Jane (nee McGregor) Metlak, age 73, of Cheektowaga, formerly of the Tonawandas, died Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Erie County Medical Center, after a long illness. Born in Big Run, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John and Nettie (nee Hirshberger) McGregor. She was the wife of the late Edward R. Metlak, who died in 1995, and mother of the late Linda Metlak and Paul Metlak.
She is survived by her four sons, Edward (Jean) Metlak, Joseph (Marlene) Metlak, David (Tina) Metlak, and William (Darlene) Smochek; six daughters, Wanda (Fred) Raymond, Ann (William) Witkopf, Sandra (Larry) Rosman, Joanne (David) Pers, Rochelle Misso, and Kelly Schunk; and was the caregiver for Danielle. Also surviving are many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends after Noon on Thursday at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets in Tonawanda, where a memorial service will be held at 1 PM Thursday; the Rev. James A. Lewis, III officiating. Interment will be cared for privately at Yorks Corners Cemetery. If desired, memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 315 Alberta Drive, Amherst, NY 14226, are preferred by the family.
Beverly A. McCracken
Member of Ascension Parish
Beverly (nee Rodier) McCracken, age 68, of North Tonawanda, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Born in North Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Verna (nee Reist) Rodier and had been a resident of North Tonawanda for the greater part of her life. A graduate of Mt. St. Mary Academy in Kenmore, she had been a health care worker and was a member of Ascension R.C. Church in North Tonawanda.
She is survived by her brother, Wilfred (Rose) Rodier of Cheektowaga; a nephew, Michael Rodier of Cheektowaga; a niece, Maria (Robert) Ruda of Depew; a grand-nephew, Dylan Ruda; and a grand-niece, Chelsea Ruda. Also surviving are her aunt, Evelyn Reist, and several cousins.
There is no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at 9:30 AM Wednesday, May 16, at Ascension R.C. Church on Robinson Street in North Tonawanda. If desired, memorials to the Erie County SPCA are preferred by the family. Arrangements by the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.
Maureen O. Glidden
Retired from Army Reserve
Maureen (nee O’Connor) Glidden, age 55, of North Tonawanda, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, after a brief illness. Born in North Tonawanda, she was a graduate of Bishop Gibbons High School and Daemen College, and was a member of Ascension R.C. Church. A lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, she served in the Army Reserve for 20 years and held the rank of Major when she retired from the Reserves in 2001, and was employed as a Registered Nurse at DeGraff Hospital for 19 years and then with United Health Care before becoming ill. She was the daughter of the late Maurice J. O’Connor, who died in 2005.
She is survived by her daughter, Amanda (A.J.) Pachucinski of North Collins; her son, David M. Glidden of North Tonawanda; her mother, Anita O’Connor; her grandson, Alex Pachucinski; and two brothers, Jack (Roz) O’Connor and Kenneth (Liz) O’Connor. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Monday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Tuesday at Ascension R.C. Church on Robinson Street in North Tonawanda; the Rev. Ted Jost officiating. Friends invited. Sheryl L. Cemane
Office Manager for Sears in Buffalo
Sheryl L. Cemane, age 60, of Tonawanda, died Monday, May 21, 2007, at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late June Wallace and had been a resident of Tonawanda for the past 35 years. Mrs. Cemane was employed as an office manager for Sears Logistics Services in Buffalo.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph F. Cemane of Tonawanda; her sister-in-law, Joann Cemane of the Town of Tonawanda; and her cousin, Susan Pantalino of Chicago, Illinois.

Paul R. Lortz
Member of Bricklayers Local 3
Paul R. Lortz, age 58, of North Tonawanda, died Friday, May 25, 2007, at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, after a long illness. Born in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Russell and Grace (nee Hoff) Lortz and had been a resident of the Tonawandas for more than 20 years. Mr. Lortz was a member of the Bricklayers Local 3 in Getzville.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine (nee Wolniewicz) Lortz; three children, Joanna, James and Janine; two step-children, Michael and Christine; and a brother, David Lortz.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM Saturday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 8 PM Saturday. Friends invited. Interment will be cared for privately at Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton. Flowers are gratefully declined.
Leland R. Berry

Leland R. Berry, age 67, of Tonawanda, died Friday, May 25, 2007 at his residence, after a brief illness. Born in Lockport, he had been a resident of Tonawanda for more than 20 years. An Army Veteran, he had been employed at the General Motors Powertrain Division in the Town of Tonawanda, before retiring in 2004. Mr. Berry was a member of the Chapel at CrossPoint, and was the son of the late Arlene Fye and brother of the late Darlene Berry.
He is survived by his wife, Laurel (nee Swartenberg) Berry; five sons, Robert Berry, Richard Berry, Jeremy Berry, Daniel Berry, and Peter Berry, all of the Tonawandas; his father, Paul Berry, Sr.; and three brothers, Paul (Sharon) Berry, Jr. of Tonawanda, Robert (Pamela) Berry of Tacoma, Washington, and Anthony Caccamise, Jr. of Buffalo. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Hannah, Emily and Marissa, and numerous step-siblings, nieces and nephews.

Lifelong Resident of Tonawandas
Shirley A. Gallagher, age 69, of Tonawanda, died Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Hospice Buffalo, after a long illness. Born in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Lucy (nee SanGeorge) Gallagher, and had been a lifelong resident of the Tonawandas. She was the mother of the late Dale A. Lands, who died in 1995, and sister of the late George Gallagher.
She is survived by five children, Marylou (Ron) Bryant of Tonawanda, Lynn (Ned) Heiss of Tonawanda, Mark A. Lands of Tonawanda, Dawn Matuszak of Buffalo, and Bill (Lisa) Lands of Tonawanda; and six siblings, Hubert Gallagher, Richard Gallagher, Gloria Rosthauser, David Gallagher, Edwin Gallagher, and Elizabeth Seabury. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
