Juanita (nee Kohler) Humphreys, age 87, of Tonawanda, died Friday, August 2, 2002, after a brief illness. Born in Tonawanda on June 21, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Hilo and Evelyn (nee DeCoursey) Kohler and had been a lifelong resident of Tonawanda. She was an active lifelong member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, and had been employed at the former Ranburn Box Factory in Tonawanda until 1952. She was the loving wife of the late Bliss "Red" Humphreys, who died in 1985, and sister of the late Mary, Joseph, Jerome, and Prosper Kohler.
She is survived by 2 loving daughters, Patricia (Thomas) Somerville and Karen (Charles) Collura; two devoted grandchildren, Kevin and Kelly Collura; a dear sister-in-law, Betty Kohler; and her special friend, Mildred Barile. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Monday at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM Tuesday at St. Francis Chapel on Adam Street in Tonawanda. Interment will be cared for privately at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in the Town of Tonawanda.
Anna V. Sergiej
Lifelong Tonawanda Resident
Anna (nee Fiala) Sergiej, age 80, of Tonawanda, died unexpectedly, Friday, August 2, 2002. Born in Tonawanda on March 10, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John and Virginia (nee Keller) Fiala and had been a lifelong resident of Tonawanda. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and was the wife of the late Adam "Whitey" Sergiej, who died in June of 1993.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Judy (Gary) Green, Jeanne Baldauff, and Susan (Joe) Perrotta; a sister, Betty Wrege; and seven grandchildren, Michael, Lisa, Mark, Sadie, Jesse, Shayleen, and Adam. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Tuesday at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM Wednesday at St. Francis Chapel on Adam Street in Tonawanda. If desired, memorials for breast cancer research are preferred by the family.
Margaret Leuthe
Formerly of Cheektowaga
Margaret Leuthe, age 94, of Buffalo, died Wednesday, August 7, 2002, at the Niagara Lutheran Home in Buffalo, after a long illness. Born in Buffalo on September 2, 1907, she was a resident of Cheektowaga for most of her life. She had been employed at the Westinghouse Plant in Cheektowaga, before retiring and was the mother of the late Mary A. Leuthe and the late David W. Leuthe.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Sherri Leuthe, James G. Leuthe, and Scott D. Leuthe.
Friends are invited to attend a graveside committal service at 1 PM Friday, August 9, at Elmlawn Cemetery, Deleware Avenue and Brighton Road in the Town of Tonawanda. Arrangements by the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam & Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.
Gloria Abbata
Gloria O. Abbata, age 73, of Apache Junction, AZ, formerly of Port Charlotte, FL, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo. She was a resident of Buffalo until moving to Florida in 1977 and had been employed as a manager at K-Mart before retiring. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elks Aerie 2153, and the American Legion, George F. Lamm Post No. 622. She was the sister of the late Rita Vangilder and "Bootsie" Wolfe.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Carmello J. Abbata; three children, Sandra Demler (Sherry Desimone), Melanie (Darwin) Horton, and Nicholas (Michele) Abbata; a brother, Walter (Fran) Schiffmaker; a brother-in-law, Don Wolfe; and 6 grandchildren, Denise (Ron) Walker, Christine (Jimmy) Jones, Donna (James) Brunn, Darwin Horton, Jeremy (Sandra) Abbata, and Nicole Abbata. Also surviving are 3 great-grandchildren, Kayla and Jacob Brunn and Noelle Walker, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 10 AM - 2 PM Saturday at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, the Rev. Paul Koehn officiating. Friends invited. Interment will be cared for privately at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Niagara Falls. If desired, memorials to the American Legion, George F. Lorraine C. Mahoney, age 67, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Monday, August 26, 2002, at Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Victoria (nee Stronka) Chrzastowski and had been a lifelong resident of Tonawanda. She was the wife of the late Francis "Rod" Mahoney, and mother of the late Vicki J. Mahoney..
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Dennis) Waldron; and two grandsons, Paul and Nathan Waldron.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday at Good Shepherd Cemetery on North Tonawanda Creek Road in Pendleton. Friends invited. David Horvath
Retired from Courier Express
David Horvath, age 87, of Tonawanda, died Sunday, August 25, 2002, at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Franklin, Manitoba, Canada, he was the son of the late Steve and Jullianna (nee Tziladzi) Horvath and had been a resident of Tonawanda for more than 40 years. A Marine Corps Veteran of WWII, Mr. Horvath had been employed as a printer at the Courier Express before retiring. He was the husband of the late Isobel E. Horvath, who died in 1993.
He is survived by his son, Robert D. Horvath; and dear friends, Florence Kubala and Bill and Holly Morgan. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Ruth Henle
Lifelong Tonawanda Resident
Ruth (nee Krauss) Henle, age 89, of Tonawanda, died Wednesday, September 4, 2002, at her residence. Born on September 11, 1912, she was the daughter of the late George and Louisa Krauss and had been a lifelong resident of Tonawanda. Mrs. Henle had close ties with First Presbyterian Church, Salem United Church of Christ, and St. Francis of Assisi Church, all in Tonawanda. She had been a member of the Polar Bear Association, the Birthday Belles, and the American Legion Tonawandas Post No. 264 Auxillary. She was the wife of the late Raymond F. Henle, who died in 1982, and sister of the late Mildred "Amy" Krauss.
She is survived by several cousins, nieces, and a nephew, and a dear friend, Sue Hall Gardner.
