Retired from Erie County Community College
Betty (nee Heider) Scullion, age 76, of Lockport, formerly of the Tonawandas, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at her residence after a long illness. Born August 16, 1927, in North Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late William and Louise (nee Luescher) Heider. Mrs. Scullion had been employed at the Erie County Community College North Campus in Amherst for more than 20 years, before retiring in 1996.
She is survived by five daughters, Sharon Love, Diane Youra, Debra Love, Bonnie (Larry) Muscoreil, and Karen (Bill) Love-Eckrote; and three brothers. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM Tuesday at Acacia Park Cemetery Chapel on North Tonawanda Creek Road in Pendleton. Friends invited. If desired, memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094, are preferred by the family.
Ronald J. Williams
Vietnam Veteran & Naval Seabee
Ronald J. Williams, age 55, of Wheatfield, died Monday, June 7, 2004, at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, after a brief illness. Born February 27, 1949, in North Tonawanda, he was the son of the late Edward and Dorothy (nee Dolpp) Williams and had been a lifelong resident of the North Tonawanda area. Mr. Williams served in the Navy Seabees from 1967 to 1973, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion, Tonawandas Post No. 264, and was employed at Delphi-Harrison Radiator for 33 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy (nee Neubauer) Williams; proud and loving father of Carrie, Stacey and Kelly Williams; dear brother of Roger “Skip” (Judy) Williams, Sharon (James) Schuetz and Richard Williams; brother-in-law of Diane (Joe) Quinn; and devoted son-in-law of James and Ann Neubauer. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, a great-niece, and a great-nephew.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Thursday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday at St. Albert the Great R.C. Church on Niagara Falls Blvd in North Tonawanda. Friends invited. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, PO Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240-0631, or Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094, are preferred by the family.
Andrew Schinas
Retired from Anaconda American Brass
Andrew Schinas, age 78, of Tonawanda, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, after a brief illness. Born July 29, 1925, in Lockport, he was the son of the late Constantine and Helen (nee Parker) Schinas. A Navy Veteran of WWII, he was employed at Anaconda American Brass until retiring in 1988.
He is survived by his wife, Rose M. Schinas; two sons, Richard (Deborah) Schinas and Micheal (Heidi) Schinas; two daughters, Susan (Roger) Green and Carol (Dennis) Andersen; a brother, John (Betty) Schinas; and a sister, Penny Randolph. Also surviving are six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM Sunday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets in Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday at Acacia Park Cemetery Chapel on North Tonawanda Creek Road in Pendleton. Friends invited. Interment at Acacia Park Cemetery.
Mary A. Sheldon
First "Meter Maid" in Tonawanda
Mary (nee Dion) Sheldon, age 88, of Tonawanda, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at her residence. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Adelard and Bessie (nee Caldwell) Dion and had been a lifelong resident of Tonawanda. She was the first meter maid in the City of Tonawanda and then a school crossing guard at Main and Broad Street before retiring in 1972. Mrs. Sheldon was a volunteer at the Veteran's Hospital Pharmacy for many years, and had been a member at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Tonawanda. She was the wife of the late William J. Sheldon.
She is survived by a son, William (Martha) Sheldon; a granddaughter, Susan (Brian) Gawley; and a great-granddaughter, Devon E. Gawley.
Services were cared for privately at the convenience of the family, followed by interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.
Robert A. Lynch
Army Veteran of Korean War
Robert A. Lynch, age 74, of North Tonawanda, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at the Veterans’ Administration Medical Center in Buffalo, after a long illness. Born in Ozone Park, a suburb of New York City, he was the son of the late George and Helena (nee Seewaldt) Lynch and had been a resident of North Tonawanda for the past 45 years. An Army Veteran of the Korean War, who served from 1952 through 1953, he was very patriotic. Mr. Lynch was a local industrial contractor and multi-level marketer before retiring. He worked to establish Our Lady of the Rosary Traditional Catholic Church in Buffalo, and was a life member of the John Birch Society.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (nee Kelly) Lynch of North Tonawanda; four children, Michael (Rose) Lynch of Conklin, NY, Steven Lynch of Buffalo, Patrick Lynch of North Tonawanda, and Kelly (Paul) Labonte of North Tonawanda; a sister, Joan Lynch of Las Vegas, Nevada; and two brothers, Don (Mary) Lynch of Chaffee, and George Lynch of Arcade. Also surviving are four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated at 10 AM Friday, June 18, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 231 McKinley Parkway, Buffalo. Interment was at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Arcade. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Tonawanda.
Martin T. Sefranek
Lifelong Tonawanda Resident
Martin T. Sefranek, age 91, of Tonawanda, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at Williamsville View Manor after a long illness. Born January 16, 1913, in Pilsen, Checkslovakia, he had been a lifelong resident of Tonawanda. Mr. Sefranek had been employed at American Standard in Buffalo before retiring and was a member of the Tonawanda Senior Citizens. He was the husband of the late Madalen (nee Gall) Sefranek, who died December 6, 1975.
He is survived by three daughters, Marilynn (Ronald) Newton, Nancy (William) McDonald and Mary (Richard) LeVoy; and two sons, Martin (Sandy) Sefranek and Mark (Joann) Sefranek. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 PM Wednesday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where a prayer service will be held at 4 PM Wednesday. Friends invited. Interment will be cared for privately at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. If desired, memorials to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049, are preferred by the family.
Dorothy Miller
Lifelong Resident of Tonawanda
Dorothy (nee Baltes) Miller, age 82, of Tonawanda, died Sunday, June 27, 2004, at her residence after a long illness. Born August 26, 1921, in Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late W. Frank and Mary (nee Gardner) Baltes and was a lifelong resident of Tonawanda. Mrs. Miller was a member of St. Andrew’s Parish in the Town of Tonawanda and the Multiple Sclerosis Club of the Tonawandas. She was the mother of the late Janet Martin, and sister of the late Robert, Peter, Lawrence, and Neil Baltes, Frances Marshall, and Helen Williams.
She is survived by her husband, Richard W. Miller; two sons, Robert (Elizabeth) Miller and Alan (James) Miller; two daughters, Carol A. Miller and Kathleen (Gerald) Morgan; and ten grandchildren, Brenda, Melinda, Phillip, Deanna, Thomas, Kelly, Brian, Joshua, Samantha, and Sabrina. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Alexander, Jada, Josephine, and Morgan; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7-9 PM Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 PM Tuesday at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.
