Thomas C. Mullaney, age 70, of Tonawanda, died Friday, November 15, 2002, at Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness. Born in North Tonawanda, he was the son of the late Harold and Rose (nee Mahanna) Mullaney and was a lifelong resident of the Tonawandas. A decorated Navy Veteran of the Korean War, he was a former Alderman in Tonawanda, and a member and past commander of Tonawandas Post No. 264, American Legion. He was a member of National Hose Company and St. Francis of Assisi Parish. He was employed as a salesman at Colonial Ford in Tonawanda, and currently at Colton Auto Sales in Wheatfield.
He is survived by his wife, Helen (nee Holler) Mullaney; two daughters, Laura R. Mullaney and Barbara H. (Richard) Beasock; a son, Thomas A. Mullaney; and two grandsons, Zachary and Tyler.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Sunday at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Monday at St. Francis Chapel on Adam Street. Friends invited. If desired, memorials for Vietnam Veterans c/o Tonawandas Legion Post No. 264, are preferred by the family.
Marilyn M. Schreiner
Member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish
Marilyn (nee Enright) Schreiner, age 78, of Tonawanda, died Wednesday, November 6, 2002, at the McAuley Residence after a long illness. Born in Rochester, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (nee Dever) Enright and had been a resident of Tonawanda for over 50 years. Before retiring, Mrs. Schreiner had been employed as a caregiver at a local daycare center. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph E. Schreiner; her daughter, Linda (the late Roger) Rhodes; her son, Dave (Michele) Schreiner; and 16 brothers and sisters. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Saturday at St. Francis Chapel on Adam Street in Tonawanda. Friends invited. If desired, memorials to the American Heart Association are preferred by the family. Arrangements by the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.
Earl H. Attridge
Developed first magnesium bowling pins
Earl H. Attridge, age 93, of the Town of Tonawanda, died unexpectedly Friday, November 15, 2002, at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Born January 16, 1909 in Rochester, he was the son of the late Frederick and Clara (nee Ehresman) Attridge, and was a resident of the Town of Tonawanda for more than 45 years. He was a patternmaker and engineer at Bell Aircraft for 17 years before opening his own shop and later founding the Magna-Pin Corp in Buffalo. The magna-pin was the first non-wood bowling pin to meet all ABC standards and was approved by the bowling organization in 1962. He also produced a magnesium baseball bat, golf club head and other bowling pins. Mr. Attridge was the oldest member of Valley-Simes Lodge No. 0109, F&AM, in Rochester.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Harriet (nee Levea) Attridge; two daughters, Barbara Arch and Diane (Stephen) Deck; and two sons, E. Donald Attridge and Dean (Marjorie Weber) Attridge. Also surviving are six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Services were cared for privately at the convenience of the family, followed by interment at Glenwood Cemetery in Lockport. If desired, memorials to Hospice Buffalo are preferred by the family. Arrangements by the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Tonawanda.
John Philip Janowski
Western New York Educator
John Philip Janowski, age 73, of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of North Tonawanda, died Friday, November 1, 2002 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, where he lived with his children, due to complications from cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Born in Nanticoke, PA, he was the son of the late Leon and Julia (nee Groblewski) Janowski. He graduated from Nanticoke High School in 1947, and from LaSalle University (Philadelphia, PA) in 1953. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Education from Niagara University in Lewiston in 1954. During his professional life, he served as a guidance counselor in the Niagara Falls School District, and as a professor at Niagara University. Mr. Janowski was elected to the North Tonawanda Board of Education for a five-year term in 1975. John was a noted career counselor, and avid financial investor, and in his later years, a great student and financier of entrepreneur endeavors. His passion for knowledge and education never left him. He married Madeline Fezer in 1964, with whom he had two children. His wife, Madeline, died of breast cancer in 1978, after which John Janowski successfully raised his two children.
He is survived by his daughter, Jean Madeline (Shaun) Rawls; his son, John Fezer (Stephanie) Janowski; and a grandson, Noble Rawls, all of Atlanta, GA. Also surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Frank Novak; and a niece, Juliann Novak, all of Nanticoke, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday, December 6, at Ascension Church, 168 Robinson Street, North Tonawanda, followed by a graveside service at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Elmwood Avenue, Kenmore, and a memorial luncheon at 1 PM at the Park Lane Restaurant, 33 Gates Circle, Buffalo. Friends invited. Arrangements by the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.
Anne E. Reisch
Lifelong Tonawanda Resident
Anne (nee Beringer) Reisch, age 84, of Tonawanda, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Born in Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late Wendel and Rose (nee Sieber) Beringer and had been a lifelong resident of Tonawanda. Mrs. Reisch was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, and had worked as a waitress at Loeswick's, Uncle Mike's and then Watson's Restaurants before retiring. She was the wife of the late Chief Master Sergeant Daniel E. Reisch, 107th Air National Guard, who died in 1971, and sister of the late Wendel, Joseph and Anthony Beringer.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Philip) Moudy; three grandchildren, Amy Moudy (Chris Comeau), Lisa (Bradley) Paskievitch, and Kelly Moudy (Ezequiel Gomes); five brothers, John, Frank, Nicholas (Joan), W. Robert (Elvira), and Charles (Charlotte) Beringer; and three sisters, Theresa Tomaselli, Rose (Joseph) Nowak, and Helen Beringer. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Wednesday at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where prayers will be said at 9:30 AM Thursday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Francis Chapel on Adam Street in Tonawanda. Friends invited. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Hospice Buffalo Foundation, 225 Como Park Blvd, Cheektowaga, NY 14227, are preferred by the family.

Lifelong North Tonawanda Resident
June (nee Morgan) Keeney, age 44, of North Tonawanda, died unexpectedly, Sunday June 15, 2003, at her residence. Born in Erie, PA on July 30, 1958, she was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, and had been employed as a nurse at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center. She was the wife of the late Dennis C. Keeney, who died on April 11, 1995.
She is survived by a son, Spenser M. Keeney; her parents, Willard & Marjorie Morgan; a brother, Lynn R. (Sandy) Morgan; and a sister, Cindy (Jim Hall) Morgan. Also surviving five step-children, James, Lisa, Jessi, Jamie, and Kristin Keeney, and two nephews, Kyle and Drew Morgan.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, her brother, Rev. Harold Cleckley
Army Veteran
Harold Cleckley, age 71, of Buffalo, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at his residence after a long fight with cancer. Born November 11, 1931 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Joseph and Madaline (nee Robinson) Cleckley. An Army Veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Cleckley was employed by Laborer's Union Local 210 in Cheektowaga, and he was an avid fisherman. He was the father of the late Angel Gowdy.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (nee Ball) Cleckley; and seven children, Jackie Cleckley, Sara Hill, Kerry James, Jason Cleckley, Shonda Cleckley, and Jessie (Jennifer) Beiber. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
