Jean (nee Olmstead) Theel, age 85, of Tonawanda, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at Hospice Buffalo, after a long illness. Born in Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Coral (nee Holdridge) Olmstead and was a lifelong resident of Tonawanda. A member of Salem United Church of Christ, she had been employed as a sales clerk at Jenss Twin-Ton, and then at Bern’s Childrens Shop for 27 years, before retiring in 1983.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice (Gary) Doane and Jaretta (Al) Awaldt; 10 grandchildren, David (Leesa) and Scott (June) D’Orazio, Robert (Cheryl) Frey, Kim (Brian) Yohe, Lisa (Gary Eckis) Godios, Mark (Kim) Doane, Todd (Ann), Lance (Janet) and Christopher (Tina) Awaldt, and Allyson (Lewis) Edens; and two sisters, Dolores (George) Anthony and Marilyn Colvin. Also surviving are 31 great-grandchildren, 8 great, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Thursday and Friday at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday at Salem United Church of Christ, Morgan & Main Streets, Tonawanda, the Revs. Alice McDermott and Lisa Drysdale officiating. Friends invited. Interment at Elmlawn Cemetery. Charlotter M. Rose
Member of St. Francis Parish
Charlotte (nee O'Dea) Rose, age 82, of Tonawanda, died Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at Riverwood Health Care Facility on Grand Island after a long illness. Born April 16, 1921, in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (nee Hess) O'Dea and had been a resident of Tonawanda since 1955. Mrs. Rose was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and enjoyed bowling. She was the wife of the late Walter F. Rose, who died on June 17, 2000.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth "Sis" (Walter) Latacki; four sons, Richard (Paula) Rose, Kenneth (Elisa) Rose, Robert (Carolyn) Rose, and James Rose; and 12 grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Friday at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday at St. Francis Chapel on Adam Street in Tonawanda. Friends invited. Interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. David F. Meyers
1993 Heart Transplant Recipient
David F. Meyers, age 55, of Tonawanda, died Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, after a long illness. Born April 11, 1948, in North Tonawanda, he was the son of the late Richard and Aldean (nee Challgren) Meyers and was a lifelong resident of the Tonawandas. A graduate of Tonawanda High School, Mr. Meyers was a skilled artist who enjoyed pen and ink sketching and woodworking. He attended St. Peter's United Church of Christ in North Tonawanda and was a heart transplant recipient in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; two brothers, Richard (Nancy) Meyers and Michael (Paula) Meyers; a sister, Pamela Meyers; and an aunt and uncle, Vritta and Herman Sparks. He was the loving papa of Tyler, Hunter, Logan, and Zander. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 3-5 PM Saturday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where a prayer service will be held at 5 PM Saturday. Friends invited. If desired, memorials are preferred by the family.
Jeffrey T. Lynch
Vietnam War Veteran
Jeffrey T. Lynch, age 51, of North Tonawanda, died Thursday, December 11, 2003, at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born November 27, 1952, in North Tonawanda, he was the son of the late Thomas and Georgiana (nee Fuller) Lynch and was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda. A Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Lynch had been employed at the Niagara Falls Air Base before becoming disabled in 2002. He was the brother of the late Maureen Len.
He is survived by his wife, Janet A. Lynch; a son, Shane Lynch; three brothers, Daniel (Mary) Lynch, Mike Lynch and Gig Spann; and four sisters, Brenda Elin, Jennifer Lynch, Lori Stone, and Pam (David) Braun. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where a prayer service will be held at 8 PM Saturday evening. Friends invited. Interment will be cared for privately at Friedens Cemetery in Wheatfield. Raymond J. Fedeson
Former dock master at Buffalo Yacht Club
Raymond J. Fedeson, age 85, of Tonawanda, died Sunday, December 14, 2003, at DeGraff Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. Born May 29, 1918, in Sloan, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (nee Kraczyk) Fedeson and had been a lifelong resident of the Tonawandas. Mr. Fedeson was an Army Veteran of WWII, and a member of Union Hook and Ladder Company, No. 1. He had been the dock master at the Buffalo Yacht Club before retiring in 1983, and was husband of the late Margaret M. Fedeson, who died in 1999. He was the brother of the late Dennis, Benjamin and Edwin Fedeson and Camile Bylenok.
He is survived by two sons, Jay (Barbara) Fedeson and Timothy (Lynn) Fedeson; a daughter, Susan R. Fedeson; three grandchildren, Karen, Steve and Kristen Fedeson; four brothers, Henry, Chester (Elizabeth), Joseph and Alfred Fedeson and a sister, Dorothy Renskowski. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Lucienne Yvonne Bloom
Longtime Buffalo Resident
Lucienne Yvonne Bloom, age 90, of Buffalo, died Monday, December 15, 2003, at Williamsville View Manor. Born September 26, 1913 in Chalons Sur Marne, France, she was the daughter of the late Lucien and Marie Louise Yvonne Oury Mahoudeaux, and had been a resident of Buffalo since coming to the United States in 1946. She was the wife of the late Andre Charlier and the late Samuel L. Bloom, who died in 1968.
She is survived by her children, Evelyn Hoffman, Alain Charlier, Claudette Lester, John Bloom, and Jeannette Pritchard. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There is no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in the Town of Tonawanda; the Rev. Msgr. Robert Golombek officiating. Interment at White Chapel Cemetery, Town of Amherst. Arrangements cared for by Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam & Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.
George F. Schneider
WWII Coast Guard Veteran
George F. Schneider, age 83, of Tonawanda, died Sunday, December 21, 2003, at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital after a brief illness. Born November 18, 1920, in Tonawanda, he was the son of the late Jacob and Esther (nee Eisle) Schneider and was a lifelong resident of Tonawanda. Mr. Schneider was a disabled Coast Guard Veteran of WWII and had been member of the American Legion, Tonawandas Post No. 264 for more than 53 years. He was a steadfast supporter of other disabled veterans. Mr. Schneider was employed at Pivot Punch Corp in the Town of Lockport, where he trained many new employees, before retiring in 1985 and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the Senior Citizens in Tonawanda. He was the husband of the late Margaret A. Schneider, who died September 12, 1997.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Sam) Giargiano of Martinsburg, West Virginia and Diane (Mike) Hornblas of Boston, Massachusetts; a son, Jay G. Schneider of Northhampton, Massachusetts, who is also a disabled veteran; and four grandchildren, Amy, Aaron, Anthony, and Laura.. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Daynishia, Avery and Jaden, and many nieces and nephews.
