U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-Current

Clyde N. Lux
Clyde N. Lux of Glenwood, died a August 7, 2003.
He was born March 7, 1924 to Marcus and Mildred Lux.
He was a private first class in Company C 299th Engineers Combat Battalion, and took part in the battles of Ardennes, Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland, and received the American Service Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Service Medal with bronze Arrowhead, and the Good Conduct Medal. He drove a two-and-one-half ton Army truck which hauled engineering equipment and materials. He served in England, France, Belgium, Germany and Holland.
He was the husband of the late Irene Nina Lux (nee Parsons); father of Linda (James) Goodemote, Clyde (Sue) Holmes, Sharon (Ted) Buffaloe, William Lux, Laura Beath Schinzel and the late Valerie Kendall; brother of Martha Case, Maurice (Mabel) Lux, Pauline (Lucian) Zielinski, Arthur (Dolores), Albert Lux, Florence (Kenneth) Rothenberg, Maxine (Donald) Linton, Marcus (Rita) Lux and the late Edna Blakely, Doris Ivon, Theressa, Nicholas, Gordon, Frank, Harold, Floyd and Herbert Lux. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 11 o'clock from the Smith-Weisman- tel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Springville. The Rev. Richard N. Keel officiated. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, town of Concord.

Loretta M. "Laurie" Welty (nee Schuteker)
Loretta M. "Laurie" Welty (nee Schuteker) of Boston, September 11, 2003. Wife of Robert E. Welty Sr.; mother of Kim (Jay) Welty, Peggy S. (Robert) McCloud, Robert Welty Jr. and Sandy L. (Dale) Ball; grandmother of Robert Jr., Kelly, Joe, Tylor, Dakoda, Jaramiah and Seth; daughter of Catherine (Streit) and the late Edgar Schuteker; sister of Diane Lysiak and Paul (Janet) Schuteker; also survived by nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made by the Erie County Cremation Service, 824-6435.

Ruth Marion Reed (nee Mayerat)
Ruth Marion Reed (nee Mayerat), September 9, 2003, of Colden. Wife of the late Ray W. Reed; mother of Thelma (late Carl) Stachewicz, Linda (Richard) Ahles and Barbara (late Robert) Kane; grandmother of 11, great-grandmother of 14, and great-great-grandmother of three; sister of the late Grace, Lorna, Robert, Jean and Richard Mayerat; dear friend of the late Edward Moore. Funeral services were private. Mrs. Reed had been a resident of the Jennie B. Richmond Chaffee Nursing Home for two years. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the ASPCA. Arrangements were made by the Wurtz Funeral Home, 9287 Boston State Road, Boston.

James L. Murray
James L. Murray of East Concord, August 30, 2003, husband of Marie (Kindel); father of Donald (Susan), Robert, Lynn and Jeanette (Santos) Hernandez; survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother of Jerome (Ruth). No prior visitation. Memorial Services will be held Friday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. from St. Jude R.C. Church, Genesee & Savage rds., Sardinia. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Arrangements by Kenneth Howe Funeral Home.

Ronald Bird King
Services were held from the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Springville, Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock, for Ronald Bird King, 81, of Springville, who died Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at home. The Rev. Ronald R. Sprehe officiated. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, town of Concord.
A native of Springville, King had been a cattle dealer and past director of the New York State Cattle Dealers Association. His father and grandfather were cattle dealers, and he started in the business at age 16, working as a cattle dealer for 65 years.
He was a lifetime member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Fellowship and the Lions Club. He received the Lions Club Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated humanitarian services.
King was known to farmers and their families for his cattle canes, maple syrup and the gum he carried for children. He also enjoyed taking children to the Lions Club Christmas party and participating in the club's annual pancake breakfast.
He was the husband of Dorothy King (nee Wigent); father of Charlotte (Richard) Hill of Durham, NH, Elaine (Clark) Taylor of Webster and Deborah King of Lancaster, and the late Bird I. King; father-in-law of Mary King (Agen); also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother of Josephine (Frederick) Agle of Homosassa, Fla. and Arthur P. (Nancy) King of Springville.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Springville Lions Club; Salem Lutheran Church; or Suburban Adults Services Inc., 13339 Route 39, Sardinia, NY 14134.
Arrangements were made by the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Springville.

Wilfred J. Krebs
Wilfred J. Krebs, a retired certified public accountant who was in practice for over five decades in St. Louis and Buffalo, died Monday, October 20, 2003 in Bertrand Chaffee Hospital, Springville.
Born in Breese, Illinois, he graduated from St. Mary's Preparatory School in St. Mary's, Kansas, and St. Louis University, both Jesuit institutions. He had a lifelong zeal for Jesuit liberal arts education.
He joined the accounting firm of Peat, Marwick Mitchell in 1941 and moved his family to Buffalo in 1951 to open the Peat, Marwick Mitchell office in Buffalo. He was a partner in the Clarence Rainess accounting firm and most recently with Fox and Company, from which he retired. As an accountant he specialized in federal and state taxes and estate planning. He conducted many seminars in tax preparation over the years, and was known for developing the professional skills of junior accountants.
Krebs was a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Missouri State Society of CPAs, the National Association of Accountants, and Estate Analysts of Western New York. He was past president of the Buffalo Area Chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs.
Active in his community, Krebs was a trustee for St. Leo the Great Parish in Amherst. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. An avid golfer, he was a past member of the Park Country Club. Other hobbies included gardening, upland game hunting, and fishing.
He was the husband of Virginia Ann (nee Coad) Krebs; father of Mary T. (Thomas) Adams of Hartford, Connecticut, William J. (Virginia M.) Krebs of Springville, and Suzanne M. (David) Mervine of Kenmore; grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother of Marcella Bechtold and Lawrence Krebs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock from St. Leo the Great Church, Sweethome Road, Am- herst. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kenmore. Arrangements were made by the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Spring- ville.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital, Springville.

Edward M. Hall
Edward M. Hall, Born April 24, 1934 in Buffalo to Myron and Helen (Davis) Hall, died at Buffalo General Hospital at age 69 on October 20, 2003. He was a physical education teacher at Springville-Griffith Institute.
He is survived by his wife Linda B. (nee Schlade) Hall; children Beth A. (Julius) Aebly and Sally H. (Peter) Crowe; also five grandchildren, Garrett, Hannah, Trey, Jillian and Collin.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Springville. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from the Salem Ev. Lutheran Church, 91 West Main Street, Springville. The Rev. Ronald R. Sprehe will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Springville. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Salem Ev. Lutheran Church, 91 West Main St., Springville, NY 14141.

William Linde
William Linde of Collins Center, October 16, 2003. Son of the late Lloyd and Bernice (Mattice) Linde; father of Corinna Linde, Michelle (Kim) Abbey and Brandy (Antonio) Cruz; also survived by five grandchildren; brother of Betty (Bernard) King, Tina Schichtel, Cathie Dunkleman and the late Delton and Arlene Linde. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 11 o'clock from the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Springville. The Rev. Frank Woods officiated. Burial was in Collins Center Cemetery.

Joseph James Suja
Joseph James Suja, October 15, 2003, of Boston. Husband of the late Helen (nee Sebo) Suja; father of the late Paul (Carol) Suja of Washington State; grandfather of Cheryl, Michael and Thomas; brother of Dorothy (Russell) Homme, Mary (Steve) Baco and the late Julia Munch, Mary Alves, Peter Suja, Helen Halaby and Margaret Suja; beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews. Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made by the Wurtz Funeral Home, 9287 Boston State Road, Boston.

Corinne Comisarek (nee Lingenfelter), November 3, 2003, of Springville. Wife of the late Edward Comisarek; loving mother of Phyllis (late John) Kowalske, Vera (late Frank) Minati and Donald (Joanne) Comisarek; proud grandmother of John (Tracy) Kowalske, Robert Kowalske and Patricia Kowalske, Christina Comisarek, Keith (Mandy) Comisarek, Rebecca (Luis) Juarez and Lynda Comisarek; fond great-grandmother of Devin, John, Erin and David Kowalske, Laura Juarez and Tyler and Aaron Davis; sister of Thelma (late Wilbur) Fuller, Masie (late Miner) Everets, Laura (late John) Hoch, Lorna Block, Ronald (Barbara) Lingenfelter, Donald (Barb) Lingenfelter, Grace (Robert) Rosier, and the late John (late Joyce) Lingenfelter; also survived by several nieces and nephews. John Joseph Hogan
John Joseph Hogan, 83, of Kinston, NC, formerly of Springville, died Saturday, October 25, 2003 at his home.
He was the husband of the late Betty; brother of the late Marie (late Walter) Fox; father of Beverly Hogan of Farmville, NC, Sharon (Joe) Keith of Wake Forest, NC and Dennis (Debbie) of Kinston; grandfather of six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Mr. Hogan was a graduate of the Griffith Institute Class of 1939. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from DuPont. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Kinston, where funeral services were held Oct. 29. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 709 West Vernon Ave., Kinston, NC 28501.

Betty C. Fellows (nee Miller), October 30, 2003, of Boston. Wife of Donald S. Fellows; mother of Richard (Barbara) Czerniak and Jody Fisher; sister of the late Dick Miller; cousin of Joan Artez. Harold A. Bragg
Harold A. Bragg, suddenly, of West Falls, December 18. 2003. Beloved husband of Carol M. (nee Welsted); dearest father of Tammy Bragg (Richie), Diane (Dan) Gentner, Barbara (Allen) Haver- nick, and Sandra (Tim) Czerwin- ski; also survived by nine grandchildren and a great-grandson; beloved brother of Phyllis (Ed) Reinhard, Joan Darszewski, Deane Bragg and Sharon (Dave) Hawley. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock from the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Spring ville. The Rev. John S. Kwiecien- officiated. Burial was in Colden Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the West Falls Fire Company.
