Bernice B. Frazier

HERKIMER - Bernice B. Frazier, 86, of 315 North Prospect Street, and formerly of McCoons Road, Richfield Springs, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2001 in Faxton-St. Luke's Medical Center, New Hartford.

She was born on November 18, 1914 in Herkimer, a daughter of the late Peter and Victoria Krolewicz Bukatko.

A lifelong area resident on May 18, 1932, she married Floyd Junior Frazier, in the town of Columbia.

The shared a devoted union of 52 years until his passing on August 11, 1984.

During WW II, she had worked in Remington Arms Company and, later, as a knitter for Duofold Mills in Mohawk.

For a few years, she held the position of dog enumerator for the town of Columbia.

She was a member of the Cedarville Fire Department Auxiliary, Herkimer County Fire Auxiliary, the Burger World Senior Citizens, and AARP.

She made crafts for enjoyment, delighted in playing cards and had a special love for animals.

Her family filled her life with happiness, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bernice had an enduring strength, and was a helpful person.

Throughout her lifetime, she had touched the lives of many with her gracious manner and kindness and will not be forgotten.

She is survived by four children, Evelyn Petriski of Jordanville, Robert and his wife, Donna Frazier, of Chehalis, Wash, Carol and her husband, John Brewer, of Richfield Springs, and Victoria Bronner of Mohawk, ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, a sister Helen and her husband Rudolph Karasek of Syracuse; a brother-in-law, Francis Frazier of Oriskany Falls, several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne Eckler on April 24, 1970 and a sister Mary Kline in 1994.

Funeral service will be on Monday at 10:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer, with the Reverend Hans Drews, pastor of Columbia Center United Methodist Church officiating.

The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m.

In lieu of floral tributes, Bernice had requested those wishing to make a remembrance may do so through donations to Cedarville Volunteer Fire Department or the Columbia Center United Methodist Church.

James R. Gagnon

HERKIMER - James R. Gagnon, 58, of Perry Street, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, April 10, 2001, in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.

He was born July 22, 1942, in Herkimer, son of the late Robert J. and Ruth A. Pardee Gagnon Miller.

A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of West Canada Valley High School.

An honorably discharged U.S. Air Force veteran, he had served in Germany during the Vietnam War.

After returning home from his military service, he worked as a custodian for the Herkimer Central School System.

Jim was a friend to many and will not be forgotten.

Surviving him are two brothers, William Gagnon of LaCrescenta, Calif. and Ronald Gagnon of Wichita Falls, Texas; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

His brother, Gary Gagnon, preceded him in death in 1994.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer.

The Very Rev. James Jadick, United States Air Force chaplain, will officiate.

Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Joseph Giachetti

EAST HERKIMER - Joseph Giachetti, age 80, of Pine Grove Road, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 11, 2001 at his home.

He was born on March 21, 1921 in Little Falls, son of the late Vincent and Mary Donadio Giachetti.

A lifelong area resident, he was raised and educated in Little Falls.

He proudly answered the call of his country in World War II and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Air Force after serving in China, Burma and India.

He was a mason by trade and for over fifty years, a member of Local Union #2 International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers. .

For thirty years, working with the Roger McKay Construction Company, New York City, and later with the Gaetano Construction Company, doing work at both Griffiss and Plattsburgh Air Force Bases, retiring in 1983.

He was of the Methodist faith.

Joe had a love for the outdoors and was a life member of the East Herkimer Fish and Game Club.

His special interest was raising racing Pigeons and was a member of the Mid-State Sportsman Racing Pigeon Club.

He was a member of the East Herkimer Memorial VFW Post #6531, and the China, Burma, India Veterans Association.

Surviving him are his companion and partner of twenty-eight years Barbara LaRowe, two sons; William and his wife Wendy Giachetti of Mohawk, Vincent Giachetti of Sanford, FL, one daughter; Mary and her husband, Robert Slack, of Herkimer, his extended family, Gary LaRowe, of Gloversville, Linda and her husband, Clifford Munio, of Herkimer, four sisters; Catherine Millette of Pittsfield, MA, Carmella Paul, Rose Giachetti and Josephine Taylor all of Herkimer, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert J. Giachetti, in 1989, three brothers; Amadeo "Armen", Angelo and Henry Giachetti, two sisters, Irene Vogt and Louise Gregg.

Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer.

The Reverend William Otis, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Herkimer, will officiate.

Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.

The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.

Memorial donations may be made to MOVAC.

Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Members of the East Herkimer Memorial VFW Post #6531 are asked to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM for services.

Katherine A. Gleason

HERKIMER - Katherine A. Gleason, age 86, formerly of 105 Protection Avenue, Nathan Galinsky Apartments passed away on Monday morning, July 23, 2001 in Folts Homes, Herkimer, where she has resided since 1999.

She was born on October 6, 1914 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Leroy and Mary French Gleason.

A lifelong resident of Herkimer, she was a graduate of Herkimer High School.

For thirty-seven years, she worked for UNIVAC retiring in 1976.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Herkimer.

Katherine was happiest when she was with family and friends and will be greatly missed by all of them.

Surviving are two nephews, Bruce A. Gleason of East Herkimer, Gary Gleason of Lawrenceville, GA; a niece, Pamela Green of Herkimer, several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas R. Gleason, in 1991 and a nephew, Edward Gleason, in 1993.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Katherine s family wish to extend their deep gratitude to the fourth floor staff of Folts Homes for their care, compassion and understanding during her stay.

Memorial donations may be made to Folts Homes.

Envelopes will be available at Fenner Funeral Home, 115 Court Street, Herkimer.
