HERKIMER - Mary E. Lowery, 83, formerly of 80 East North Street, Ilion, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 in Little Falls Hospital.
She was born on January 5, 1918 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Murray Albert and Electa Ann Newman Parks.
A lifelong area resident, she was raised and educated in Herkimer.
On October 23, 1936, she married John W. Lowery in Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer.
A loving union of forty-one years, until his passing on July 3, 1978.
Mrs. Lowery had worked for William Scialdo at the General Herkimer Hotel and, later, worked in Quality Control at Mohawk Data Sciences, retiring in 1983.
After her retirement, she did private home health care work.
She had a strong belief in God and lived a devoted Episcopalian life.
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer, and Saint Mary's Guild of the church.
Also, she belonged to the American Legion Post #38, Herkimer, Ladies Auxiliary.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #502, Ilion, Ladies Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose Club #31, Ilion.
Mary will always be remembered as a loving, caring person and will be greatly missed by many friends and family.
Surviving are a daughter; Ann and her husband, Donald Waller, of Ilion; one brother, Herbert Parks, of Herkimer; a daughter-in-law, Karen Lowery, of Herkimer; twelve grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, John, she was preceded in death by a son, John W. Lowery, Jr.; two brothers, Robert and Vernon Parks.
Burial Office and Celebration of the Holy Eucharist according to the Book of Common Prayer will be offered on Friday morning, at 11:00 AM in Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer.
The Reverend Brian Kellington, Rector, will officiate.
Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery later this spring.
The family will present to receive relatives and friends in Fenner Funeral Home Inc, 115 Court Street, Herkimer, on Thursday, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Memorial donations may be made to the Christ Episcopal Church Herkimer.
Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Members of the American Legion Post # 38 Herkimer, Ladies Auxiliary are asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday evening for services at 6:45 PM and members of VFW Post #502, Ilion, Ladies Auxiliary are asked to meet at the funeral home for services at 7:00 PM that evening.
Gary K. Lowell
HERKIMER -- Gary K. Lowell, 61, of Richfield Springs, formerly of Herkimer, died Monday night, Dec. 17, 2001, in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.
He was born Jan. 20, 1940, in Herkimer, a son of the late Guy and Sarah Helmer Lowell.
He was raised and educated in Herkimer.
Besides his parents, his brother, Ralph Lowell, preceded him in death.
His surviving relatives include an uncle and aunt, Ralph and Wanda Helmer, of East Herkimer; three aunts, Ida Fuller and Ada Miller, both of Herkimer and Myrtle Lowell of Ilion; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be present in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court St., on Thursday evening, from 5-7 p.m., to receive relatives and friends.
The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. William Otis, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Herkimer, officiating.
Interment will take place next spring in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls.
Merrill D. LaCelle
HERKIMER - Merrill D, LaCelle, "Frenchy", 80 of Eureka Avenue, died on Wednesday, January 2, 2001 in Little Falls Hospital.
A son of the late Henry A. and Gertrude M. Olyer LaCelle, he was born on January 22, 1020.
A lifelong area resident, he was raised and educated in Mohawk.
On January 24, 1941, he married Jeannette Mills in Mohawk.
He had worked as a machinist for various local companies including UNIVAC, Bendix, and the Standard Furniture Company.
He also worked as a self-employed contractor retiring in 1985.
He was of the Baptist faith and an honorary member of the American Legion Post #38.
Surviving besides his wife, Jeannette, are two sons and their wives, Riley and Corliss LaCelle, of Herkimer, Merrill, Jr. and Alice LaCelle of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three daughters, Bonnie Zobrist of Ilion, Carol and her husband, Donald Elthorp, of Mohawk, Melanie and Mario Gazzilli of Ilion; fifteen grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, one aunt, Hedwige Gour, of FL; two nieces and two nephews.
Funeral Service will be on Monday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer.
The Reverend Jeremy L. Spencer, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Herkimer will officiate.
Interment in Mt. View Memorial Gardens will take place later this spring.
The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Monday, one hour prior to the funeral service (from 10 - 11 am)
Thelma I. Krenichyn
Thelma I. Krenichyn, age 83, of Walnut Avenue, passed away on Sunday afternoon, September 30, 2001 in Little Falls Hospital.
She was born on April 22, 1918, in Gloversville, daughter of the late Lee and Irene Eglin Corman.
A lifelong area resident, she was raised in Mohawk and graduated from Mohawk High School.
Mrs. Krenichyn was first married to Voris Davis, who died in 1990.
On October 11, 1997, she married Daniel Krenichyn in Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Herkimer.
Mr. Krenichyn passed away on August 25, 2001.
For 38 years, she was employed as a clerical worker for the Montgomery Ward Store, in Herkimer, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of the Mohawk Reformed Church, a Past Matron of Myrtle Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and current member of Evening Star Valley Chapter #82 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Rebekahs, where she held various chairs.
Surviving her are a son, Eric Davis, of Kansas City, KS; a daughter, Deborah and her husband, Paul Beaudoin, of Arizona; three stepsons and their wives, Lane and Kathleen Krenichyn, of Herkimer, Daryl and Vicki Krenichyn, of Ilion, and Scott and Susan Krenichyn, of Herkimer; three stepdaughters, Carolyn Dunckel, of Utica, Danalee and her husband, Leon Capone, of Syracuse, and Lisa Holynski, of Herkimer; two brothers, Leonard and Raymond Corman; three grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and a cousin who resides in Syracuse.
Funeral service will be on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Herkimer Reformed Church with the Reverend Donald Battjes, pastor officiating.
Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery.
