Robert P. McEvoy, Sr.
LITTLE FALLS — Mr. Robert P. McEvoy, Sr. of 608 E. Gansevoort St., Little Falls, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000 surrounded with the love and comfort of his family. He was 73.
Bob was born on March 16, 1927, the son of the late James Edward and Katherine (Volz) McEvoy. He lived his entire life in Little Falls and attended St. Mary's Academy, graduating in 1945. He then went on to attend technical college in Buffalo.
On Oct. 27, 1951, Bob joined in marriage with Marian Mazgulski at St. Mary's Church with Reverend Edward Heenan officiating. He served our country with the U.S. Coast Guard, serving aboard the USS Leonard Wood in the Pacific. Bob was last employed by the New York State Department of Transportation as engineer in charge in the Utica district for 32 years of dedicated service, retiring in 1982. He also owned and operated the Northgate True Value hardware store in Little Falls, where he earned the respect, regard, and loyalty of the people he served. More recently, Bob surveyed for Talarico-Talsons Joint Venture. He was a communicant of the Holy Family Parish Church in Little Falls.
Bob belonged to numerous organizations and societies in Little Falls, including the Knights of Columbus, where he once held the elite title of Grand Knight and was most recently the financial secretary. He was also a member of the Staff Sgt. Steve Stefula VFW Post No. 4612; American Legion Post No. 31; Little Falls Historical Society; Herkimer County Historical Society; New York State Association of Transportation Engineers, Inc.; National Railway Historical Society - Gulf Curve Chapter, and was past president for the club.
One of Bob's favorite interests was trains and this was reflected buy his frequent train rides traveling cross country, enjoying scenery, and chatting with the people aboard. He was always willing to "talk train." It's through this hobby that Bob met many friends and always kept in touch with them. Bob was proud to be one of the first people on the scene at the Gulf Curve train accident, a story he loved to share with anyone. Another one of his hobbies was to ski and his dream was to own Shumaker Mountain Ski Resort in Little Falls, a dream that was eventually realized. A determined and focused individual, Bob was a successful and accomplished entrepreneur. He was proud to be co-owner and developer for the Sunset View Mobile Home Park in Little Falls. Bob enjoyed spending time listening to various kinds of music at home and in his office. He was a big fan of the New York Yankees and was very happy to watch them win the World Series last week. Bob will be remembered as a hard-working, honest, dependable businessman and friend. He will be missed by all.
He is survived by his family including his beloved wife Marian of Little Falls; his sons, Robert P. McEvoy, Jr. and wife Susan of Danvers, Mass., Michael J. McEvoy and wife Jo of Larkspur, Calif., Peter A. McEvoy and wife Debbie of Las Vegas, Nev., and Andrew J. McEvoy and wife Theresa of Little Falls; his daughters, Patricia A. VanGorder and her husband Jeffrey of Little Falls, Kathleen M. Prestopnik and husband James of Little Falls; three sisters, Mary E. Tongue and husband Richard C. of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Anne McDonald of Little Falls, and Catherine Engle of Lancaster, Pa.; his cherished grandchildren, Jocelyn and Pamela VanGorder of Little Falls; Ryan, Sara, and Zachary McEvoy of Larkspur, Calif.; two nieces, Nancy Tongue and Megan Engle; three cousins, Dr. Bernard (Frank) and wife Barbara McEvoy, Nancy DeMichelle and husband Robert, and Jean Benham.
Bob's funeral will commence with full military honors on Monday, Nov. 6 at 10:15 a.m. from the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls and at 11 a.m. from the Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main and John streets, Little Falls, with the Reverend Charles R. Celeste celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. The funeral procession will proceed to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where Bob will be laid to rest.
Friends and relatives may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday, Nov. 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The following organizations are asked to gather in body at the funeral home on Sunday: the VFW at 6:30 p.m.; Little Falls Fire Department at 7 p.m.; and the American Legion at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions in Bob's name may be made to the Holy Family Parish Restoration Fund or the Little Falls Hospital Development Fund. The family has entrusted the Enea Funeral Home, Little Falls, to handle all of Bob's funeral arrangements.
Lena (Wiczkouski) Crimmins
HERKIMER — Lena (Wiczkouski) Crimmins, 86, of Valley Heath Services, Herkimer, and formerly of 341 Eureka Ave., Herkimer, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2000, at Valley Health Services.
She was born April 21, 1914, in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Roman and Catherine Wiczkouski. Lena was a graduate of Herkimer High School, Class of 1932, and was a life long resident of the Herkimer area.
Her marriage to William Crimmins took place on September 14, 1936, at St. Mary's Rectory in Little Falls. The couple shared a blessed union of marriage for 16 years until the passing of William on October 15, 1952.
For 20 years, until her retirement in 1973, Lena was employed at the former Univac as a tester.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Crimmins of Little Falls; a son, William Crimmins and his wife, Patricia Brennan Crimmins, of Tonawanda and a special niece, Katherine Krawecki of Herkimer.
Lena was predeceased by a beloved grandson, William Scott Cimmins, in 1990 and a sister, Ohla Krawecki.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2000, at 7 p.m. from the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, with the Reverend Robert Shinos, pastor of the Church of Saints Anthony and Joseph's, officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Friends and relatives may call at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home on Saturday, November 4, 2000, from 4 p.m. until the time of the services. All memorial contributions may be made to Valley Health Services or the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Leland A. Carpenter
DOLGEVILLE — Mr. Leland A. Carpenter, 76, of 217 Sweet Hill Road, Dolgeville, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, in Little Falls Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Fultonville on Aug. 26, 1924, the son of Charles and Flossie Hotaling Carpenter, and was educated in schools in Stratford. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army with Company K 71st Infantry, from March 1943 until he was honorably discharged in October 1945 with the rank of PFC. He served in India and Burma and received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal/one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation. Leland was married to the former Dolores Mae Hall on July 6, 1953, in Williamstown, Mass. He was employed by Rawlings-Adirondack Industries of Dolgeville as the Yard and Drykill Supervisor until his retirement due to his health. Memorial services for family members will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Roberts-Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville. Burial will be in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills, in the spring. There are no calling hours. Memorials may be made to the Hilltop Fire Department or to the Oppenheim Fire Department in his memory.
Raymond Korce
LITTLE FALLS — Raymond Korce, 84, of 291 Newville Road, Little Falls, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001 at his residence.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1917 in the town of Danube, the son of the late Frank and Anna (Prevek) Korce. He attended Little Falls High School.
He was united in marriage to the former Mary Margaret Gardinier on June 17, 1944 at St. Mary's Church, Little Falls. Mrs. Korce predeceased him on Feb. 19, 1996. The couple shared a union of 52 years together.
Mr. Korce was a member of Holy Family Parish of Little Falls.
Mr. Korce dedicated a great deal of time to public service. He served at onetime as town of Danube assessor, tax collector, and town supervisor. He later went on to serve as a member of the Herkimer County Legislature and was the Herkimer County Commissioner of Jurors for nine years. He was also active in various farm organizations and, to the time of his death, was serving on the New York State Regional Forest Practice Board.
Mr. Korce was owner and operator of the family dairy farm in the town of Danube, which he began working on at the age of 14, retiring from farming several years ago.
He is survived by his two sisters, Anne Furlan and Jane Rose, both of Little Falls; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and close friends who he thought so much of.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 9 a.m. from Holy Family Parish Church, corner of Main and John sts., Little Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Charles R. Celeste. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann St., Little Falls on Tuesday, Feb. 6 from 5-8 p.m. and to attend the funeral services Wednesday morning.

Esther M. (Hoffman) Myers
DOLGEVILLE — Esther M. (Hoffman) Myers, formerly of 161 King Road, town of Oppenheim, Dolgeville, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer. She was 94.
Mrs. Myers was born on Sept. 27, 1906, in Galaway, the daughter of the late Peter and Stella (Hand) Hoffman. Esther shared 57 years of marriage with Seymour V. Myers. They were married in St. Mary's Church, Amsterdam. Mr. Myers passed away in September of 1984. She lived in Dolgeville for many years. Esther was last employed by Van Wie's Restaurant in Canajoharie for 15 years.She was of the Catholic Faith.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James E. Myers, Sr. and wife Beverly M. of Peru, Ind.; and a daughter, Noreen F. Looman of Dolgeville. Esther is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.
Esther's funeral service's will be held at the convenience of the family and are under the direction of the Enea Funeral Home, Little Falls.
Murray Robinson Lyon
LITTLE FALLS — Mr. Murray Robinson Lyon, 92, of W. Timmerman St., Dolgeville, and a life long resident of the community of Dolgeville, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2001, at Little Falls Hospital.
Murray's funeral will commence at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 5, 2001, at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls. The family will be present to greet relatives and friends and to celebrate Murray's life from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment in Dolgeville Cemetery will take place later this spring. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Dolgeville Ambulance.
Mr. Lyon was born on the Lyon farm in the town of Manheim on August 11, 1908, the son of the late Waldo Marsden and Grace (Caulkins) Lyon. He married Dorothy Doxstader on October 4, 1929, sharing over 50 years of marriage until her passing on April 12, 1986. He was last employed with the Niagara Mohawk Company retiring with over 30 years of dedicated service retiring in 1973. He belonged to Niagara Mohawk's 25-year club and was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his daughter, Eleanor Sherwood of Salisbury Center; a brother, Theodore Lyon of Cobleskill; a sister, Rosalyn Lein of Dolgeville; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Lyon of Dolgeville; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy; his son, Raymond M. Lyon; and three brothers, Lyndon, George and Cecil.
Cremation will take place under the direction of the Enea Funeral Home, Little Falls, who is handling all funeral arrangements.
Mary G.Harrill
ILION — Mrs. Mary G. Harrill, 82, a longtime resident of Forge Hills Estates in Ilion, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home in Ilion. Mary received wonderful care during her stay at Mohawk Valley and her family would especially like to acknowledge her caregivers on the third floor.
She was born on January 6, 1919, in Ilion, the daughter of the late Omer and Loretta (Morris) Losier. Mary attended Ilion schools and had been a lifelong Ilion resident. She was united in marriage to Hugh E. Harrill on August 19, 1955. Mr. Harrill passed away on August 11, 1968. She was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion.
Survivors include her sister in-law, Mrs. Bernard (Eileen) Losier of Ilion; and nieces and nephews including John and Sharon Kowalczik of Ilion, David and Katherine Williams of Ilion, Patricia Petryk of Pompey, Linda Losier of East Herkimer and Thomas and Theresa Losier of New Jersey; 13 grand-nieces and nephews and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Mr. Bernard Losier, on December 2, 1998.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a time to be announced from the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion, with the Reverend Joseph Beninetende, pastor, officiating. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. In respect of Mary's wishes, there will be no public calling hours.
Those wishing are asked to consider donations in memory of Mrs. Harrill to the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. Envelopes may be obtained from the Enea Family Funeral Home.

Norma M. Corso
ST. JOHNSVILLE — Norma M. Corso, 58, of 11 Mechanic Street, St. Johnsville, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, N.Y.
She was born August 31, 1942, in the Town of Minden, the daughter of Viola R. (Sanders) Johnson and the late Arnold B. Johnson. Norma was educated in St. Johnsville schools and lived her life in the St. Johnsville area.
Her marriage to Robert G. Corso took place on May 16, 1959, at St. Patrick's Church, St. Johnsville by Reverend Walter T. Burns.
For 35 years, Norma worked at Helmont Mills Inc. in St. Johnsville, where she last held the position of foreman.
Mrs. Corso was a member of St. Patrick's Church, and was a former member of the St. Johnsville Volunteer Fire Department, Ladies Auxiliary.
A loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, Norma considered her family to be her foremost priority and gave her full attention to their needs and concerns.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Robert; her mother, Viola Johnson, St. Johnsville; two sons, Anthony Corso of Auriesville and Michael Corso and wife Merry of St. Johnsville; two brothers, Russell Johnson of Fonda, and Richard Johnson of St. Johnsville; four sisters, Irma Service of St. Johnsville, Shirley Bowerman of Ephratah, Rosie Crosier and husband Tim of St. Johnsville and Leona Johnson of Nelliston; three grandchildren, Brandon Corso, Anthony Corso and Brittany Corso, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.
She was predeceased by two sons, Robert Corso and Wade Corso; and two brothers, Butch and Clifford Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at 9 a.m. from the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, and at 9:30 a.m. from St. Patrick's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place later in the spring at St. Johnsville Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 3, 2001, from 6-9 p.m.

Anne H. Miller
LITTLE FALLS — Mrs. Anne H. Miller, 79 years of age, beloved wife of the late James W. Miller, passed away on Monday afternoon, June 25, 2001, in the comfort of her home, 28 King St., Little Falls.
Anne was born on April 16, 1922, in Little Falls to the late Raymond and Rhoda (Sart) Hart. She received her education and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Little Falls. She lived her entire life in Little Falls. Anne was united in marriage to James W. Miller on March 7, 1944, he passed away on October 16, 1998. The two shared many wonderful years of marriage together and were blessed with a wonderful family. She was last employed as a computer technician for M.D.S. in East Herkimer for five years. She was of the Catholic faith and a dedicated parishioner of the Holy Family Parish Church in Little Falls. She became an honorary member of the Little Falls Elk's Lodge when her husband James passed away in 1998.
Anne was deeply devoted to her family and had an abiding love for her children and grandchildren; they were Anne's main focus. She also loved birds.
Anne is survived by her loving family including a son: B.J. Miller and wife Debbie of Palmyra, N.Y.; two daughters: Linda Miller of Little Falls and Faye Smalley and husband Paul of Mashpee, Mass.; a brother: William Hart and wife Kate of Greece, N.Y.; her cherished grandchildren: Derek Kleban and companion Julie Snyder of Ilion, Nicole Kleban and companion Ryan Dillon of Little Falls, Molly and Michael Miller of Palmyra, Rachel and Darcie Smalley of Mashpee, MA.; and a beloved great-grandchild: Lucas Kleban of Ilion. Also surviving are her in-laws: John Miller of Little Falls, Bernie Miller of Little Falls, Charles Miller of Schenectady, and Dorothy Malone of Little Falls; several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her circle of friends in the Little Falls area, too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Lucy Costanza
DOLGEVILLE — Miss Lucy Costanza, 90, a resident of the Folts Home since July 1999, and formerly of 3 Winton Lane, Dolgeville, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Folts Home. Lucy was born in Dolgeville on December 13, 1910, the daughter of Agostino and Thomasina Costanza and was educated in Dolgeville schools. Surviving her are her nieces and nephews, Anthony, Jr. and his wife Sue Costanzo of Dolgeville, Patricia and Ted Bowker of Herkimer, Joseph Cacia of California, Joseph Costanzo of Kansas City, Mo., John Costanzo of Atlanta, Georgia, T.J. Costanzo of California; her great-nieces and nephews, Susan Bowker, Stephanie Costanzo, Michael Bowker, Anthony Costanzo; her sister-in-laws, Patricia Costanzo and Josephine Costanzo, both of Dolgeville. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Anthony and Sammy Costanzo, and a sister, Frances Cacia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 28, 2001, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Helmer Ave., Dolgeville. Rev. John F. Riley, former pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours are on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Roberts-Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Avenue, Dolgeville.
