HERKIMER - Chester F. Fulmer, age 74, of West End Road, passed away on Wednesday afternoon July 24, 2002, in Faxton Hospital, Utica, with the comfort of his family around him.
He was born on February 12, 1928, in the town of Fairfield, son of the late Frank S. and Margaret McPherson Fulmer.
A lifelong area resident he was educated in Fairfield Academy.
On July 7, 1945 he married Cecelia Mae Stauring in Fairfield.
A loving and devoted union of fifty-three years until her passing on March 24, 1999.
For most of his life Chester was a self-employed Dairy Farmer and in later years, he worked for B.O.C.E.S. retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the Dairyman's League, the West Canada Grange and the East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department.
Chester was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.
Surviving him are a son, Robert and his wife June Fulmer; one daughter, Barbara and her husband, Wayne Hartman, Sr., all of Little Falls; two brothers, Harold J. and his wife Donna Fulmer, Earl H. Fulmer all of Little Falls; seven grandchildren, Christa Ackley and her husband Mark, Trisha Fulmer-Grogan, Debra Comstock, Judi Patterson and her husband Michael, Carolyn Morris and her husband Sheldon, Wayne Hartman and his wife Joyce, and Kenneth Hartman, and eleven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the First United Methodist Church, 127 N. Prospect St. Herkimer, on Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at 10:00 a.m.
Reverend Wrightson Tongue, Pastor, will officiate.
Interment will follow in Mt. View Memorial Gardens in Little Falls.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

EVELYN T. HARNEY
HERKIMER - Evelyn T. Harney, age 85, of 104 North Washington Street, formerly of Gray Street, passed away on Friday morning, April 26, 2002, in Little Falls Hospital.
She was born on June 9, 1916 in Stafford Springs, CT, daughter of the late Ralph Gile and Jessie Campbell Taylor.
She was raised and educated in Moira, NY.
On September 6, 1944, she married John Joseph Harney in Utica.
They were residents of Herkimer since 1947.
For twenty-seven years, she worked at Marcy State Hospital, retiring on January 18, 1973.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer, The Civil Service Employees Association, Crestwood Golf Club, Mohawk Valley W.B.A., The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, A.A.R.P and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees AFL-CIO.
She had many loving friends here and in Ormond Beach, FL, where they maintained a winter home for twenty years, she was always looking to her next adventure especially if it included country music, bingo card games, clothes, "eating out" or dancing.
Her husband will remember their travel and cruises.
She was the life of many a party and places and often said her life was a good one.
Surviving are her husband of fifty-seven years, John Joseph, her daughter and son-in-law; Patricia and James Peta of Hartford, CT, a granddaughter, Jayme Lynn Peta, of Boulder, CO, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, James, in World War II and her grandson, James Joseph Peta, III, in 1994.
Funeral service and interment are private at her request.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to Claxton Manor, 104 North Washington Street, Herkimer, NY 13350, where she was nurtured and loved by staff and residents for the past two years.
She loved them in return.

Hilda F. Rowan
rowan.jpg (13945 bytes)EAST HERKIMER - Hilda M. Rowan, age 92, of Folts Road passed away on Friday March 2, 2001 in Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica, with her loving family at her side.
She was born on July 4, 1908 in Hartwick, daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel Finch Chittenden.
As a young girl, her family moved to Ilion, where she graduated from Ilion High School and furthered her education at the Utica School of Commerce.
On June 7, 1930, she married George F. Rowan in the First Baptist Church, Ilion, a devoted union of over fifty yearsc, until his passing on January 1, 1981.
Mrs. Rowan had first worked at the Herkimer Memorial Hospital.
Then, for twenty years with the Herkimer Central School District, where she served as treasurer of the school, retiring in 1973.
She had a strong belief in God and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Herkimer, as well as the 100% Class of the church.
She was a life member of Evening Star Valley Chapter #82 Order of the Eastern Star and a member and past Royal Matron of the Order of the Amaranth.
She will always be remembered as a loving, caring and helpful person.
She will be missed by many, especially her family.
Surviving her are two sons, George E. Rowan, Robert J. and his wife, Sylvia Rowan all of East Herkimer; a daughter, Lois and her husband, Robert Wiegand of Frankfort, a sister; Louise Chittenden of Ocala, FL; fourteen grandchildren, Candace and her husband, Gene Hnydowitz, Traci Lynch, Donna and her husband, James Hartman, George E., Jr. and his wife, Michele Rowan, Cregg A. Rowan, Lynda and her husband, David Kuehnle, Cheryl and her husband, John Wheelock, Patricia and her husband, Todd Griffin, Thomas Wiegand, Timothy and his wife, Stephanie Wiegand, Christine Rowan, Jeffery Rowan, John Rowan Teresa Rowan, twenty-four great-grandchildren and several cousins.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 9:00 AM in the First Baptist Church Herkimer with the Reverend Jeremy Spencer, church pastor officiating.
Interment will be later this spring in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer, Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Herkimer, the East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department or the Mohawk Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The family wishes to thank the third floor Orthopedic staff of Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center for the care and compassion shown to Hilda during her hospital stay.

Edmund A. Hugick
RICHFIELD SPRINGS -- Edmund A. Hugick, 73, of County Highway 22, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2002, in his home.
He was born Jan. 6, 1929, in the town of Columbia, son of the late George and Mary Bukatko Hugick.
A lifelong area resident, he was educated in Columbia and Richfield Springs schools.
An honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran, he served his country during the Korean War.
He was married to the former Isabelle Grube VonDauber.
She preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 1969.
For over 20 years, he worked for the town of Columbia Highway Department and the Herkimer County Highway Department.
Mr. Hugick had a strong belief in God and was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving him are three brothers, Theodore Hugick of Blossvale, Bernard and his wife Nancy Hugick of Mohawk and George Hugick of Richfield Springs; his aunt, Helen and uncle, Rudolph Karasek of Camillus; several nieces and nephews, including his favorite nephews, Mark and Michael Hugick, and several cousins.
Besides his parents and wife Isabelle, a sister, Frances Yaworski, predeceased him.
Funeral service with military honors will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer.
The Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer, will officiate.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Thursday evening, from 7-9 p.m.
