HERKIMER - Linda Ellen Schrader, age 57. of Lake Street, passed away after a long illness on Thursday afternoon April 5, 2001 in the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion.
She was born on January 22, 1944, in Ilion, daughter of Grace Bowman Ingerham and the late Walter Ingerham.
A lifelong Herkimer resident, she was a graduate of Herkimer High School.
On May 1, 1965, she married Wayne J. "Butch" Schrader in Fort Plain.
For five years, Linda had worked as a nurses aide at the Herkimer County Home, retiring in 1993.
Linda was happiest when she was surrounded by her friends and loving family, especially her four grandchildren.
Before her illness her leisure time was spent crocheting and camping.
She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer.
Surviving are her devoted husband of thirty-five years "Butch"; a son, Wayne "Joe" Schrader and his wife Cynthia of Little Falls; a daughter, Colleen and her husband Jeffery Gross of Herkimer; three brothers, Vaughn "Mike" Ingerham, Gary Ingerham of Columbia Center, Ingram "Ingy" Ingerham of Ilion; four sisters, Jean White, Jeanette Young, Joyce Sanderson, Alice White all of Ilion; four grandchildren, Zachary Schrader of Little Falls, Jacob Gross of Herkimer, John and Jessica Irons of Little Falls, several nieces, nephews and cousins and dear friends Tom and Donna Graham of Moahwk.
Besides her father Walter she was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Richard Ingerham.
The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM.
A memorial service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer.
The Reverend Dale Dickerson pastor will officiate.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Little Falls Hospital or the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home.
Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Lura D. Maranville
HERKIMER - Lura Maranville age 90 a resident of Valley Health Services Inc., formerly of Guy Prindle Apartments Ilion, passed away on Sunday March 31, 2002 in Valley Health Services Inc.
Mrs. Maranville was born on November 3, 1911 in East Herkimer, daughter of the late John and Minnie Davis.
She was a graduate of Herkimer High School.
Her marriage to Harry S. Maranville of Poultney, VT took place in 1937.
They moved to Mohawk, where they resided for many years.
Her husband died in 1963.
She was of the Methodist faith, a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Order of the Amaranth.
She also worked with the Head Start.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Ellen and Witold Wiernicki of Mohawk, Mary and Bud Ratajack of Poland, seven grandchildren and their spouses, Susan and Todd Eisenach of NE, Wendy and Peter Scott of OR, Michael and Kim Wiernicki of GA, Alan and Michele Wiernicki of MA, Peter and Sarah Wiernicki of NH, Paul Wierniki of MD, Mary (Cathy) Williams of NY, nine great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Guido, Henry Eisenach, Alex, Lucy and Julia Wiernicki, Isabella, Molly and Jillian Scott, and Connor Wiernicki, a sister-in-law Roberta Davis of NH, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother Earl Davis, four sisters Ida Eysaman, Pearl Clark, Dessie Cornell and Stella Richardson.
There is no calling hours. Family and friends are asked to gather for graveside services at the family plot in Oak Hill Cemetery on Sunday at 2:00 PM.
The Reverend Dwayne A. Durand pastor of the Newport United Methodist Church will officiate.

James W. English
HERKIMER - James W. English, 71, of Steuben Road, died on Thursday, November 9, 2000 in Saint Luke’s Memorial Hospital Center, New Hartford.
He was born in Herkimer on June 29, 1929, son of the late Earl A. and Sarah Forsyth English.
A lifelong Herkimer resident, he graduated from Herkimer High School with the "class of 1948".
An honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran, he served our country during the Korean War.
He was in the Amphibious Forces and took part in "Operation Blue Jay" which built Thule Air Force Base in Greenland.
On February 10, 1951, Jim married Margaret Ray in the Herkimer Reformed Church.
A union of forty-nine years that has blessed them with loving children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
For thirty-three years, he was a Herkimer Fire Fighter.
He was promoted to the rank of Deputy Fire Chief in 1966 and in 1978 became Fire Chief.
He served in that capacity for eight years until his retirement in 1986.
His involvement with fire fighting went beyond his duties in the village of Herkimer.
He was a certified New York State Fire Instructor, a co-founder of Herkimer County Arson Task Force, where he was a lifetime member and had served as its chairman.
He also served on the Herkimer County Fire Advisory Board and was instrumental in the forming of the Mohawk Valley Volunteer Ambulance Corp. (MOVAC).
After his retirement, he drove the van for the Herkimer County Office of the Aging.
He was a member the Herkimer Reformed Church and had served on the Consistory Board of the church.
Surviving besides his beloved wife, Margaret, are two sons and their wives; Gary and Kathy Wilbert English of Ilion, Eric and Deborah Godlewski English of Mohawk, a daughter; Julie and her husband, Michael Cring, of Cooperstown, eight grandchildren; Ryan and his wife, Amy English, Kerry Harrold, Christopher English, Eric and Joshua English, Kaitlin, Nicole and Paige Cring, two great-grandsons; Ethan and Andrew Harrold, a sister; Elizabeth Miller of Herkimer, one uncle, Lynn English of East Herkimer, one niece, six nephews and several cousins.
Funeral service will take place on Sunday at 2:00 PM in the Herkimer Reformed Church.
The Reverend’s Donald and Christine Battjes, co-pastors, will officiate.
Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls.
The family will be present in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer to receive relatives and friends Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

Conrad C. Nielsen
HERKIMER - Conrad C. Nielsen, age 91, of 104 North Washington Street, and formerly of Dolgeville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, January 2, 2002 in Folts Home, Herkimer.
He was born on April 14, 1910, in Denmark, son of the late Niels C. and Ida Johannsen Nielsen.
Conrad came to America with his family when he was six years old, where he lived in Troy, and later, the town of Fairfield.
He was educated in both Troy and Fairfield public schools.
For ten years, he worked as a messenger for the Western Union Company and then for the National Biscuit Company.
On June 26, 1930, he married Rowena Thompson, of Fairfield and Herkimer; a devoted union of 54 years, until her passing on December 23, 1984.
A licensed New York State Funeral Director, Mr. Nielsen was a graduate of Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse, and subsequently was an instructor at the school.
His wife, Rowena, was also a licensed funeral director and together established the Nielsen Funeral Home, in Dolgeville, which they operated until 1966.
The business was sold to the Dryer family and later became the Buck Funeral Home.
He was a member of the Little Falls Presbyterian Church, former member of the Dolgeville United Methodist Church, a past President and honorary member of the Tri-County Funeral Directors Association, a 50-year member of Dolgeville Lodge #796 F & AM, Valley of Utica Scottish Rite Bodies, Ziyara Shrine A.A.O.N.M.S. of Utica, and the Salisbury Grange #596 where he had served as secretary.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Rodney and Dorothy Nielsen, of Northville, James and Ann Nielsen, of Leroy and Harry and Gabriel Nielsen, of Kingsbridge, VA; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will take place on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Wakeman Chapel of Folts Home with the Reverend David Oertel, Chaplain officiating.
Interment will be later this spring in Salisbury Rural Cemetery.
The family will be present in the Wakeman Chapel of Folts Home to receive relatives and friends Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
Members of Dolgeville Lodge # 796 F & AM are asked to meet at Wakeman Chapel at 1:45 p.m. Saturday for ritualistic services.
Memorial donations may be made to the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital in care of the Ziyara Shrine of Utica.
