Born to Morgan and Gladys (Babb) Bennett,Sr. November 21,1923 in Daytona Beach FL where he graduated the public schools and also attended Bethune-Cookman College. Served Honorably in the U.S. Army then employed as a Conductor for N.Y.C. Transit Authority. Active with Empire Lodge No.216 I.B.P.O.E.of W.(Elks). Married to Mable H. Bennett who predeceased him along with elder sister Ernestine Irving. Survived by daughter, Lee Ann Banks; twin sons, Keith (Jotaya) and Kenneth Alexander; five grandchildren; sister Farrise B. CAWLEY, MARY J.
Mary J. Cawley, 99, of Sky View, Croton on Hudson,NY and previously Mt. Kisco, NY died August 11,2010 peacefully. She was born in Shannow, Co. Cavan, Ireland on July 17,1911, the daughter of Michael and Rose Smith. She was one of six children. In 1926, at the age of 15 she boldly boarded a ship for the ten-day trip to America. She found work as a kitchen maid at the John Jay House in Katonah, working for the Islen Family. Mrs. Cawley also worked for AT&T; and was promoted to a supervisor position where she continued to work until she retired at age 65. She influenced the lives of many family members and her community with tremendous care-giving skills. As a mother and grandmother she provided love and strength. She was a remarkable woman with a bright sense of humor and a bold personality. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip; son, Michael; and granddaughter, Katherine. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Virginia; grandchildren, Jennifer Keon (Larry); Jeanne Anzalone (Michael); Philip Cawley (Gretchen); Matthew Cawley; Timothy Cawley (Lisa); Brian Cawley; John Cawley and Eileen Cawley. Great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Taylor (Christian); Michael Keon; Alec Keon; Olivia and Charlie Anzalone; Finn and Neve Cawley; Francesca, Alessia and Mia Cawley. Great-great grandchild Ava Taylor. Family Mass will be held at Holy Name of Mary Church, Croton on Hudson, NY on Friday, August 13 at 2:00 PM with burial immediately following at St. Francis Cemetery, Mt. Kisco, NY . CERBONE, VINCENT T.
Vincent T. Cerbone, aged 81 years, of Mount Kisco, New York and Fairfield, Connecticut, passed from this life peacefully on August 11, 2010. He was born May 13, 1929 the son of Thomas and Mary R. Cerbone, both deceased. Beloved husband of Elaine E. Cerbone and father to loving daughters, Lisa C. Abzum of Mount Kisco, NY and Mary Jean Erkan of Fairfield, CT. Surviving him are his beloved granddaughters, Caroline Joyce, Kathleen Joyce, Mili Abzun and Ivy Abzun, as well as his sister, Lucy A. Cerbone and brother, Joseph J. Cerbone. His sister, Marie T. Cerbone, died in 1998. Mr. Cerbone practiced law in Mount Kisco for 35 years, and was a Villiage and Town Justice of Mount Kisco for 25 years. He attended St. Francis of Assisi School in Mt. Kisco and St. Mary's School in Katonah, Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio, Iona College in New Rochelle, New York and New York Law School in New York City. Mr. Cerbone served with the First Marine Division in Korea from January 1952 to January 1954 and was a member of the American Legion Moses Taylor Jr. Post 136, Knight of Columbus of Mount Kisco and the BPOE of Mount Kisco. He loved his family dearly and he delighted to be in their company. He was master raconteur, an avid traveler and enjoyed thoroughbred racing. Friends may call at the Oelker-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 E. Main Street, Mt. Kisco on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 10 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mt Kisco. It is his wish that in lieu of flowers, friends make donations to the American Cancer Society or to the National Kidney Foundation.
FINCH, MARGARET "PEGGY"
Margaret "Peggy" Finch, 94, a life-long Peekskill/Shrub Oak resident, passed away August 12, 2010. On March 31, 1946, she married H. Ellis Finch, who later predeceased her. She was an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Peekskill, where she served in the choir and alter guild. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines, the Gaelic Society and a published poet. Peggy is survived by her three daughters and one son: Janet Grezgorek, Nancy Lynam, Betsy Rodino and Peter Finch; 11 grandchildren & 13 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Hugh "Bud" Lockhart; sisters-in-laws: Alberta Lockhart and Alice Finch; and several nieces, nephews, friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 15th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home, Peekskill. Catherine Florio, beloved Deputy Town Clerk of Pelham passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Kathy resided in Pelham for forty-five years, attending Pelham Memorial High School. Aside from being a beautiful woman, she was a wonderful daughter to Frank and Mary Cusano, a supportive sister to Frankie Jr. a loving wife to Mike Florio, and the absolute best Mom to her two boys, Michael and Nicholas. Kathy was a devoted daughter-in-law to Rose Florio, a compassionate friend to her sister-in-law Joan Florio and brother-in-law Sal Florio. She was a caring aunt to Robert and Michelle Inesta. She truly was the best friend to all. Kathy was the best friend to her two angels, Suzanne and Alexandra. She will forever be her family's Gaurdian Angel. KENYON, JOHN
John W. Kenyon, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died Thursday, August 12, 2010, a few months short of his 100th birthday. He was born November 23, 1910 on Hill Street in Sycamore Park, where lived for some 95 years. Mr. Kenyon is survived by his two sons, John (and his wife Margaret), of South Salem, NY; and James (and his wife Londa), of Bedford, NY, as well as six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret in 1996. Mr. Kenyon was a WWII veteran and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1980. Mr. Kenyon was considered by many to be something of a local historian. Blessed by an incredible memory up to the time of his passing, he would relate stories of growing up in New Rochelle, when trolley cars served the downtown, during the Great Depression, and following WWII, with anecdotes on the city's changing fabric over a century. Visiting Friday 4-8 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle. Mass Saturday 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Pelham Manor. KRAISKY, BENJAMIN P.
Benjamin P. Kraisky passed away suddenly on August 10, 2010. He was born in Mount Vernon, NY on March 17, 1966, to Frank and Susie Kraisky. Ben graduated with honors from Boston College in 1988, and immediately began his C.P.A. career at Ernst and Young, LLP in NYC. Ben left his partnership there to join with J.H. Cohn, LLP, where he was partner. Ben was known for his philanthropic spirit, donating to many worthwhile causes. He was great supporter of the theatre arts, and was on the Board of Directors of A.R.T./New York. Ben is survived by his beloved mother, Susie of Mount Vernon, sisters Stella (O'Neill), Nancy (Maselli) and Janet (Cardone), and one brother, Anthony. Ben is also survived by many loving aunts and uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 12 from 7-9 PM and Friday, August 13 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ursula's Church, 214 E. Lincoln Ave, Mount Vernon on Saturday, August 14th at 9:45 AM.
