Patrick F. Solan, 83, of Tuckahoe, died on June 29, 2010. Beloved husband of Marie Mahon Solan. Dear brother of John Solan, Nora "Dolly" McNella, and the late Mary Josephine "JoJo" O'Neill and Christopher Solan. Brother-in-law of Frank Mahon. Patrick was born in County Mayo, Ireland on March 12, 1927 to Thomas and Bridget Clinton Solan. As a youth he was a champion handball and tennis player. He married his wife Marie in Ireland, and they would have been married 50 years this October. He was a volunteer with the St. Vincent DePaul Society, a Eucharistic Minister at Immaculate Conception Church and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in Westchester County for volunteerism. The family will receive friends at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC. Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday July 2nd at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe. Pearl Zall passed away on June 28, 2010 at the age of 88. Born in Brooklyn NY, to the late Morris and Mary Podolsky she graduated from City of New York Board of Education- Commercial Course in June 1936. She lived in Brooklyn prior to moving to Rockland County. Mrs. Zall was employed by Sheffield Dairies in Brooklyn, as a bookkeeper before leaving for Rockland County to marry her late husband David and raise her family. She was a long time member of the West Clarkstown Jewish Center. She is survived by her loving children Sharon Zall and Martin and his wife Anita Zall. ALBARELLI, JOSEPH
Joseph "Joe Furniture" Albarelli of Nanuet passed away peacefully June 11, 2010 at home surrounded by his family. Joe was born March 3, 1932 to Louis and Genevieve Albarelli in East Harlem, NY. He served in the Korean war with the U.S. Army. In 1955 he married his sweetheart Lucille DeNome and moved to the Bronx where they started their family. They moved to New City in 1972. Joe was the owner of Sanfred Furniture Factory in New York for 40 years. Joe was a devoted husband and father whose greatest joy was being surrounded by his family and countless friends. Nothing made him happier than having all his family over for Sunday dinner. Joe's grandchildren were the light of his life. He fought a courageous battle, never losing his sense of humor. Joe will be missed more than words can say. Joe is survived by his loving wife Lucille, his children Ginnie Parisi, Lisa Marie Albarelli, Louis Albarelli and his wife Annette, his grandchildren Joseph Parisi, Danielle Parisi, Marissa, Joey and DJ Albarelli, his sister Wanda DeNome and her husband Pasquale and many loving nieces and nephews. Hildegarde Bacino, April 27, 1922-June 12, 2010 Blauvelt, NY. Hilda Bacino, a longtime resident of Blauvelt and owner of Hildegard's Antique Shop in Nyack, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2010 at St. Teresa's Nursing Home in Middletown. She was 88. One of 13 children, she was born on April 27, 1922 in the providence of Wehlah, Germany. At the age of 14, she was chosen to work as one of Queen Elizabeth's Ladies in Waiting. During that time, she learned all about the finer things in life. She met and married her first husband in Germany, and together they raised two daughters, Barbara and Judy. A War survivor, she came to America after meeting her second husband Anthony, who was a U.S. soldier. Hilda ran her Antique shop for many years in the Franklin Antique Center on Main and Franklin Street in Nyack She was both an exceptional cook and a smart businesswoman. She prided herself in her fairness in business dealings. She was a determined woman, so determined that she applied for, and was granted her first driver's license at the age of 74. She was our family's Matriarch and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Didden of North Bergen, NJ; her sisters, Meta and her husband Kurt of Naples, Fl and Gerta of Germany; her granddaughters, Theresa Fix and her husband Walter of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Jennifer Knapp and her husband John of Middletown, Diane Dipalma of Ft. Montgomery, NY and Melody Petraglia of North Bergen, NJ and her grandson, Duke Dupont and his girlfriend Nancy of West Haverstraw. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Jett and Ayla DiPalma,. Forest, Matilda and Delilah Knapp and Alyssa and Kianna, as well as several nieces and nephews. Marjorie V. Baker, a longtime Tarrytown resident died June 6, 2010 at St. Cabrini Home. She was 89. Marjorie worked at the Ardsley Country Club for many years as a floral arranger as well as a personal assistant to the women members of the club. She is survived by her children Marjorie Coletti of Scotia, NY, John Baker of Miami, FL and William Malahy of Yonkers. She is also survived by five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Jay. Grace Irene Carpenter, age 85,passed away peacefully on May 27,2010 in Waynesville, NC. A native of Thornwood, Grace was the daughter of the late Jacob Watson and Anna Helen Florian Carpenter. A graduate of Pleasantville High School, she had a career in banking, mainly as the Hawthorne branch manager of NBW Bank. She is survived by her sister Mildred Eichhorn of Waynesville, NC; her brother, Robert Carpenter of Thornwood; and her sister-in-law Kathy Carpenter of Briarcliff Manor. She is predeceased by her brother Bruce Carpenter. She was a loving aunt and beloved great-aunt. Grace was a beautiful and intelligent person with a kind heart and a gentle soul. She will be forever remembered. The interment of ashes will be held at Kensico Cemetery on Friday, June 18,2010 at 1PM.

Bernadine Castronovo of Mahopac, NY died Sunday June 13, 2010. She was 60. She was born in Peekskill, NY on October 17, 1949, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Bosick Marro. Bernie graduated from Peekskill High School and earned her Masters in Music Education from WestConn. She was a music teacher, teaching at all levels in the Mahopac Central School system. She retired in 2005 after 34 years with the district. Bernie was a member of the WestConn Alumni Association and a former member of NYSSMA. On August 14, 1982 she married Charles Castronovo at Assumption Church in Peekskill. She is survived by Charles and her two kitties, Marcello and Frankie. Matthew F. Conachey of Pomona NY passed away on June 13, 2010 at age 78. He was born in the Bronx to the late Patrick and Agnes (Gallagher) Conachey of Co. Louth Ireland. A graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School. He was a retired printer and a member of the NY Typographical Union. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and enjoyed seeing the world. He loved music and played the clarinet. He marched with his high school band in the NY St. Patrick's Day Parade. He is survived by his loving wife Eileen, sons Robert (Shirley), Thomas (Barbara), daughter Susan (Kajetan), and five grandchildren; Andrew, Kajetan, Fiona, Amara and Markus. Myra De Simone passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 12, 2010. She was born in Manhattan May 12, 1918 to Mary and John Grassi. On November 22, 1942 she married Joseph De Simone who predeceased her in 1992. Myra was proud member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was a dressmaker. She loved to cook and sew. Her home was always open to everyone. Myra was dedicated to her family. She was a loving wife and mother and caring friend to all. She enjoyed doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Myra is survived by her daughters Yolanda D. De Simone and Angela Morgan; son-in-law Joseph; her grandchildren Joseph and his wife Jennifer; Jeffrey and his wife, Marijeanne; her great-grandchildren Amanda, Abigail and Joseph Robert. DONAHUE, JAMES
James P. Donahue, 79, of Larchmont, NY, formerly of Greenwich, CT, passed away Sunday morning, June 13, 2010 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania surrounded by his three children. He succumbed to injuries sustained in an automobile accident three weeks prior. Jim was born October 27, 1930, the youngest of three children, to Anne (Cullinan) and James T. Donahue. He was born and raised in The Bronx and Manhattan but spent summers at his family's home in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey. A graduate of The Fordham Preparatory School and New York University, he spent over 25 years as a sales executive at Pendleton Woolen Mills where he met his wife Catherine who was the love of his life. Those who knew and loved him best remember his passion for the stock market, Irish wit and the twinkling charm in his eyes. Above all, it is his devotion to his wife, family, friends and his faith in God for which he was most admired. He is predeceased by his wife Catherine (Raftery). He is survived by his three children Catherine Donahue Fugazy (Roy) of Larchmont, NY, James P. Donahue, Jr. (Melissa) also of Larchmont, NY and Patricia Donahue Eagan (Bret), of Rye, NY; his five grandchildren Catherine, Rory and Scarlett Fugazy and Anna and James P. Donahue III "JP".
