Madeline Scarcelli, known also as "Zizi" and "Chippy" (nee Cajano) formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y. passed away on June 13, 2010 at age 98 at the Michael Malotz Nursing Home in Yonkers with her niece Maria by her side. She was a resident of Yonkers for the past twelve years at her niece's home. She was known for her positive and hopeful attitude and never failed to make friends wherever she traveled. She was born September 16, 1911 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to Vincent and Maria Cajano and was married to her late husband, Joseph on June 12, 1937. She worked at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for forty-seven years as supervisor in the loan division. She was a devoted Aunt to Maria (Marco) Minasso of Yonkers, Vincent (Karen) Cajano of Boca Raton, Frank (Angela) Calabria of Schenectady, Marilyn (Alfred) Chiarella of Del Ray Beach, Anna Maria Baffa of Italy, Michele (Caterina) Baffa of Italy and her late nephew Totonno (Maria) Baffa of Italy and many grand and great grand and great-great grand nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Anna and her brother Pasquale Cajano. While in Yonkers, she was a member of Christ the King Parish, past member of the Rosary Altar Society and attended Senior Citizens Group 7 regularly. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00P.M. & 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 17th at Christ the King Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, Long Island. BALDASSARE, JEAN
Jean Baldassare died Tuesday, May 25, 2010 after a courageous year long battle with cancer. Jean was a guidance counselor at North Rockland High School for many years and more recently was the Director of Disability Services at Manhattanville College. She had a big heart and always tried to make a tangible difference in the lives of her students. One of those students became her son and others were known to call her "Mom". They made her very proud. All her life Jean had a love of jewelry and gems and formed her own business which she continued up until her death. She also loved animals, particularly cats, and was devoted to her cat Vladimir, a certified therapy pet that she took to hospitals and nursing homes. Jean is the daughter of Edna K. Baldassare and the late Joachim "Jack" Baldassare. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her son Andre Newsome, her siblings Ann Baldassare of Albany, NY; Rita Galbraith (Peter) of Tyler, Tx; Michael Keenan (Joyce) of Manassas, Va; four nieces and nephews and her beloved Vladimir. The family would like to formally thank Jean's caregivers: Sharon Eldridge, Patricia O'Dell and Robert Schriener for making it possible for Jean to spend her last days at home. BULGER, ELISE
M. Elise Bulger, a lifelong resident of Valhalla, passed away at Rosary Hill Home surrounded by her loving family on May 29, 2010. Born to the late Mabel and Edward Ohlrich on December 17, 1922, Mrs. Bulger was a devoted wife and mother. She married the late John Joseph Bulger on July 7, 1949 and had five children. She is survived by her son, John F. Bulger of Valhalla, her daughters, Gail Harney (James McGimpsey) of Mechanicville, Karen (Tyler) Grant, of Poughquag and Linda (Michael) Krawec of Mahopac. She is pre-deceased by her son Edward and his wife, Catherine, and her son-in-law James Harney. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and their families, including four great-grandchildren, who brought joy to her life. She was a long-time member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Valhalla Fire Department. Chiara Palma Carrafiello, "Grandma Claire", 77, of Ossining, N.Y., passed away on May 27, 2010. She was born in Bridgeport, Ct. on April 10, 1933. Chiara was predeceased by her loving husband of 35 years, A. Louis Carrafiello who passed away November 1, 1993 and her brother Michael Campopaino. She is survived by her sister Helen Farrell and brother Joseph Campopaino (wife Ginger) and her children Deborah Wilson (husband Jeff) of Stuart, Fl., Gerald A. Carrafiello (wife Kim) of Briarcliff Manor, NY., Elaina Penix (husband Adam) of Boca Raton, Fl., and Alisa Carrafiello of Williston, VT. Ronald Warren DeLuca, Jr. sadly on May 28th at age 46. Ronald was a former resident of Rye, currently living in Easton, Pa. Born March 16, 1964 in Queens, NY to Ronald W. Sr. and the late Grayce (nee Beigler). Mr. DeLuca was a special risk account manager for The Flood Agency in Larchmont. He is married to Ann Marie (nee Bertorelli) DeLuca and is the father of Jack Jovi. Ronald loved to travel. Anyone who knew him knew he loved music and was a devoted fan of Bon Jovi. Lisa J. DiLorenzo (nee Pelinger) of West Nyack, NY, passed away with her family at her side on May 26, 2010. Lisa was born on July 17, 1964 to Jerry Pelinger and Elaine Fuchs Baron. Lisa is survived by her loving Husband Chris DiLorenzo and sons, Jamie and Danny. Beloved sister Robbin Shorr, and brother Joel Pelinger. She loved animals, gymnastics and her family. Helen (Collishaw) Fauchere of New City, NY passed away on May 26, 2010. Born October 31, 1922 to William and Elizabeth (Hyson) Schultz. Helen retired after 30 years of service from Helen Hayes Hospital in 1982. She is survived by her loving husband Paul L. Fauchere, two daughters Lillian Collishaw Bryan (Harry) and Helen Collishaw Straub (Joey). She will be missed dearly by her four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. John served in the US Navy from 1967-1971 and lived in Lake Ariel, PA for the past 20 years. Retired from the Department of Environmental Protection. George Frentsos, of West Nyack died Friday, May 28, 2010 at home after an extended battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Born in Pilos, Greece in 1935, George came to the US alone at 18 years of age. He worked his way through the restaurant business to pay for schooling & graduated from Mondell Institute in 1958 before becoming a successful proprietor of his own taxi service. George is remembered to those he loved for his utter dedication and devotion to the Lord. He is survived by his devoted wife Sophia; his sons Dennis, Jason and wife Melissa; his grandchildren Josiah and Lydia; and his sisters Mitza Panagiotopoulus and Lele Kehahiaz of Greece. The viewing will be on Monday, May 31 2-4 PM and the Memorial Service at 7 PM at Sorce Funeral Home in West Nyack, NY.

Beverly Harris Gettenberg, a 55 year resident of Sloatsburg, NY, passed away May 27, 2010 at home. Born February 19, 1929 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Anna Diamond and Millard P. Harris. Beverly is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Sidney, and their daughters Denise Harris Ray of Tennessee and Sarah Anne Schles (Robert) of Suffern, NY. She was a loving grandmother to Amy, Matthew, Jesse, Rachel Anne, Laura Amanda and Samantha Michelle. She is also survived by her nieces Andrea Braid and April Roscoa of Baltimore, Md. She will be greatly missed by all. She was predeceased by her sister Helen Elaine. Beverly attended Illinois Wesleyan College as well as Marjorie Webster University where she earned her degree. She was a teacher for the disabled in Miami, Fl. as well as at The Institute for the Blind in NY. She was a founding member of The Rockland Mental Health Assoc. and was involved in Community Concerts as well as local and state politics. She retired from Weichert Realty. In recent years she was a trustee of the Sloatsburg Historical Society and a member of the Friends of the Library in Sloatsburg.
