SISTER ELEANOR M. GUNN, (formerly known as Sr. Marie David), beloved member of the Sisters of Charity and teacher at the College of Mt. St Vincent, died Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the age of 72. Sister is survived by her loving brothers George & Angus as well as numerous cousins, nieces & nephews. Sister was predeceased by her parents George and Nora (nee Walsh) Gunn. Reposing at the Convent at Mount Saint Vincent, 6301 Riverdale Ave, Bronx, NY on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Funeral Mass Wednesday 10 a.m. at the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Yonkers, NY. HANUSIK, THOMAS
Thomas Hanusik of Yonkers, NY, died on May 29, 2010 at St. John's Hospital in Yonkers. He was 98. Thomas was born on December 20, 1911 in Yonkers, NY. In 1938 he married Anne Chisar at Holy Trinity Church in Yonkers, NY. He is survived by his wife Anne, son Thomas and wife Barbara Hanusik, daughter Patricia and her husband Leonard Stans, five grandchildren, John and Serena Hanusik, Kristin and David Gervais and Jennifer Hanusik. Sophie R. Komosinski, of Yonkers, NY, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010, at age 97. Sophie was born on January 17, 1913 in Philadelphia, PA. She married Frank Komosinski on October 23, 1938. She was active in many Polish organizations: past Vice-President of ZGODA, past Treasurer of Council 150 of the Polish National Alliance, a former member of Corpus Ladies for the Polish National Alliance and a member of the Polish Community Center. She is survived by her son, Richard (Arline), daughter, Joan (Joseph) Trimarchi, and son, Francis. She is also survived by 13 Grandchildren, 14 Great-grandchildren, and 1 Great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her Husband, Frank, and a daughter, Helen. The family will receive friends at Duchynski-Cherko Funeral Home on Monday, May 31, 2010 from 4 PM. To 8 P.M. Mildred Alice Kurutz, 92, of Woodcliff Lake, NJ, formerly of Tallman, NY, died on May 29, 2010. She was born September 1, 1917 in Bridgeport, Ct. to the late Edward and Anna Barbour Foster. Mildred did volunteer work for the American Cancer Society and the Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Stephen. Beloved mother of Nancy Gehring, Stephen Kurutz, Ann Meyer and husband Rich. Louise Llorens Marley of Pearl River, NY passed away peacefully on May 29, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was 88. Louise was born in Los Angeles, Ca. on July 20, 1921 to Louis and Josephine Canet Llorens. She has been a Pearl River residence for the past 55 years and prior resided in Nanuet. Louise was employed as a bookkeeper for the Jawonio Foundation in New City for 26 years and was also the Assistant Director of Camp Jawonio. Louise was a founding member of the Rockland County Disability Advisory Council and held all of the Executive Positions, an advocate for accessible housing, bathrooms, curb cuts and handicapped parking in New York State, a Member o the Board of Directors of the Rockland Independent Living Center, Past Treasurer of the Nanuet Lions Club, 1st Secretary of the Rockland County Parks and Recreations and a Girl Scout Leader. Louise is survived by two daughters Dale and her husband Bruno Terilli and Dona and her husband Donald, one niece Carol Ann Sutherland. Louise is also survived by six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St.Anthony's Shrine Church in Nanuet, NY with interment to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Domenico Scorza, 69, died on May 29, 2010. He was born in Cosenza, Italy to Maria Teresa and Vincenzo Scorza. He emigrated to the United States, and in 1968 he married Rosanne Via in New York. Domenico had a long career in the construction industry as a cement mason. Domenico was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He had a great love for his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards, soccer and the outdoors. Domenico also enjoyed picking mushrooms during his frequent walks in the park. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Rosanne, and his loving sister, Letizia Spena. Domenico is survived by his cherished family, including his daughter, Terry Spadaccini, her husband Frank and their sons, Marc and Paul; and his son Nicholas Scorza, his wife Kelly and their daughters, Victoria, Amanda and Gabriella. TUCKER, CATHERINE M.
Catherine M. Tucker passed away on May 28, 2010 after a long illness. She was born in New York City on June 3, 1927 to Alfred and Katherine Hauke. Cathy loved to be surrounded by family and friends and enjoyed being at home as well as the adventure of her many trips here and abroad. She will always be remembered for her love of life, bright blue eyes, and sense of humor. She graduated from St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston, MA in 1948 as a registered nurse and worked at the VA Hospital in the Bronx, White Plains Hospital and then for many years at Nyack Hospital. In her second career she enjoyed working with special needs children at Jawonio and in the Clarkstown Schools. She was always very fond of her special "kids". Cathy was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi parish serving as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing communion and visiting with the homebound. Cathy is survived by her children and their spouses Laura Tucker, Steve and Janis Tucker, Susan Tucker, and Nancy and Michael Faherty. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Ashley and Jaime Tucker, Tucker and Kate Faherty, and several nieces and a nephew. Cathy was predeceased by her much loved husband of 41 years, Raymond. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 2, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack, NY.
