Eleanor Levine, born in Brooklyn and a longtime resident of Yonkers, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010. She earned a Bachelors degree from Hunter College and a Master of Arts degree from Teachers College, Columbia University with a major in Home Economics. While her career included teaching for New York City Public Schools system, she spent most of her years as mother and homemaker cooking delicious meals and raising a family. She was the beloved wife of her husband, the late Norman Levine; beloved mother of Jeffrey, Alan and Lisa who live in the Washington, DC area; dear grandmother of Greg, Mark, Rachel and Carly; and loving sister of Jules Kavan and the late Murray Kavanowitz and Isabelle Felsher. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 3:00pm at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hastings, NY.
LUONGO, MICHELLE
Michelle Luongo of New Fairfield, CT, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 26th, 2010 at Danbury Hospital at the age of 54. Michelle was born in Mount Vernon, NY, October 27th, 1956. She had been constantly surrounded by family and friends as she tirelessly and courageously faced her final battle against cancer. Michelle received a Bachelor Degree in Management Information Sciences from Pace University, Pleasantville, NY, class of 1978 and Walter Panas High School in Cortlandt Manor, NY, class of 1974. In addition to being a beloved mother, daughter, sister and cherished friend, Michelle had been employed as a Vice President of Technology at Diversified Investment Advisors in Purchase, NY for nearly 25 years. She served on the Board of Directors for the American Cancer Society's Westchester Division for more 20 years. She was very instrumental at getting local corporations involved with the American Cancer Society. Ultimately, Diversified Investment Advisors became a flagship sponsor of the ACS annual fundraiser. She was honored by the ACS as a survivor at a Diamond Gala Luncheon held in White Plains, NY in June 2009. She relocated to New Fairfield in October 2009 after living her entire life in Westchester (Yorktown/ Somers), NY. Michelle is survived by one son, Mark Badi of New Fairfield; and her mother, Suzanne Antonacci also of New Fairfield. Michelle's father, Joseph Luongo, predeceased her this June. Michelle is also survived by her brother, Louis Luongo of Putnam Valley, NY and his wife Sheryl and two daughters, Keri Ellrodt of Rye, NY and Amanda Ellrodt of Putnam Valley, NY; and a sister and best friend, Gina O'Connell and her husband John and their children, LouAnna and Nicholas, all of New Fairfield. Michelle was fortunate to know the love of close friends as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Church (21 Brush Hill Road; New Fairfield) at 10:30 AM, Thursday December 30th. Carmine Marranzino of Yonkers, NY died peacefully on December 27, 2010 at the age of 93. For many years he was employed by Westchester County as a grounds keeper at the Dunwoodie Golf Course. Beloved husband of the late Marianna (De Feo) Marranzino. Devoted father of Matthew (Michela) Marranzino and Albert (Angela) Marranzino. Dear grandfather of Carmine, Marianna and Tiziana Marranzino and Maria Rosaria Pearson and great grandfather of Alexa Pearson. Thomas J. Miceli, 63, of Thornwood, N.Y. and formerly of Bronx, N.Y.died suddenly on December 26, 2010. He was born on September 3,1947 to the late Anthony and Rose (nee Migliore) Miceli in Bronx, N.Y. Tom was a self employed Physical Trainer in the Westchester County area. He is survived by his devoted wife Carol (nee Russo) Miceli of Thornwood, N.Y. and by his loving children; Anthony Miceli and his wife Lindsay of West Harrison, N.Y. and Gina Brucato and her husband Frank of Carmel, N.Y. one brother, Dennis Miceli and his wife Vita of Hawthorne, N.Y. Also survived by his six cherished grandchildren; Glen, Alyssa and Francesca Brucato and Hailee, AJ and Justin Miceli, and many good friends. NELSON, DR. IRVING
Dr. Irving Nelson, a warm and caring pediatrician for thousands of children in Westchester County for over 60 years, passed away peacefully at his home in Ardsley, N.Y. on December 27, 2010. He was 95 years old. Dr. Nelson had a long, illustrious career as a pediatrician. Following graduation from New York University in 1935 and Long Island College of Medicine in 1939, he joined the US Air Force and was stationed in Italy. He served as a Flight Surgeon from 1941-1946 and was a highly decorated Lt. Colonel. He completed his pediatrics training at Cumberland Hospital, where he was Chief Pediatric Resident in 1947. Dr. Nelson was Director of Pediatrics at White Plains Hospital from 1957 to 1971, and was Attending Pediatrician at Grasslands Hospital in Valhalla and St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains. He was elected Chairman of the Pediatrics Section of the Westchester Academy of Medicine in 1962 and 1963. Dr. Nelson proudly volunteered for several community organizations. He participated in the Westchester County Department of Health Well Baby Clinics in Tuckahoe and White Plains, volunteered for many years as the Physician for the Town of Greenville Volunteer Fire Department, and was the pediatrician for Hartsdale Public Schools. Dr. Nelson was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on June 10, 1915, and was older brother to Howard and Ruth. He is survived by his beloved wife Gloria, his devoted children Francine and Mitchell, and five adoring grandchildren Kate, Jeffrey, Josh, Scott, and Tommy. Private funeral services will be held on Friday December 31, 2010. Donations may be made to White Plains Hospital.
O'DOHERTY, DOROTHY
Dorothy May O'Doherty (nee Ries) died on December 27, 2010. She was 91 years old. Dorothy was born on March 10, 1919 and was a longtime resident of White Plains and Larchmont. She is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, former ad executive, James S. O'Doherty and her son Kevin James O'Doherty a former stock broker. Dorothy is survived by her four children Maureen, Sean, Dennis and Deirdre Ann, seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Dorothy loved music, dancing, swimming and most of all her family. Reposing Thursday from 10:00am to 12 noon at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue at South Broadway, White Plains, where a service will be held at 12:00PM. Interment will be in the White Plains Rural Cemetery.
PARIS, CLAIRE ALICE REGNIAULT
Claire Alice Regniault Paris, 71, of Bluffton and wife of Richard Joseph Paris, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010 in the Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort, SC. She was born in New York City on July 6, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Emile and Alice Piccinni Regniault. She moved to Bluffton in 2004 from Rockland County, NY and also resides in Morristown, NJ. She was a homemaker and school teacher. She battled cancer for 24 years. She was a member of Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church; a member of the Bluffton Breast Cancer Support Group and a member of the Team Couple Marriage Encounters. She was a volunteer for the Valley Cottage Library in NY. She was an avid reader and enjoyed decorating her home. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Richard J. Paris of Bluffton; one son, Richard J. (Yvette) Paris Jr. of Roswell, GA; one daughter, Valerie C. (Paul) Bishop of Madison, NJ and grandchildren, Richard J. (Joey) Paris III, James (Jimmy) Paris, John (Jack) Paris, Katie Bishop and Carolyn Bishop. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Rd., Bluffton at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 30, 2010. The family will receive friends at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton from 5:30 til 6:30 pm, Wednesday, December 29, 2010. A Wake Service will be held at 6:30 pm. Esther Mildred Sansonetti Perico of Valley Cottage, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Nyack Manor Nursing Home, at the age of 89. She was born in Triggiano, Bari, Italy to Nicholas and Angela (Massaro) Sansonetti and immigrated to the United States along with her six other siblings at the age of six. She married John Perico and had one daughter, Judith Ann. Esther was a graduate of St. Peter's School and Haverstraw High School. She worked at Carworth Farms in New City, Modern Dust Bag in West Haverstraw, and Lighting Services Inc. in Stony Point. She volunteered at United Hospice in Pomona. Esther is predeceased by her daughter, Judith Ann; her parents, Nicholas and Angela Sansonetti, tow brothers, Frank and Michael Sansonetti; four sisters, Lina Trulli, Alba Fiore, Anne Cacioppo, and Lydia Osmundsen. She is also predeceased by her godchild and niece, Fina Trulli, and her nephew, Nicholas Fiore. She is survived by her grandson, Christopher Kavanagh (Melissa) of South Carolina, her nieces, Anna Trulli, Angela (Frank) Rundell, Anne Marie Winn, Phyllis Fiore, Angela Gormley, Ann Marie Bell, and nephews, John Fiore, Vincent Cacioppo and Michael (Barbara) Sansonetti. Virginia R. Pomroy, (nee Colling) 86, on December 27, 2010 of Ramsey, NJ. Beloved wife of the late Ernest J. Pomroy Sr. Loving mother of Ernest J. Pomroy Jr. and wife Dorothy of Pompton Lakes, NJ, Virginia R. Clyne and husband Kevin of Sandy Hook, CT, Patricia R. Mercer and late husband Fredrick J. of Phillipsburg, NJ and Debra S. Michel and husband Donald of Mahwah, NJ. Adored grandmother of James, Ernest III, Michael, Steven, Kathryn and Lauren and great-grandmother of Joshua and Isabella. Virginia was a life member of the Ramsey Woman's Club. She was a member of the Model A Ford Club of New Jersey and the American Legion Woman's Auxiliary of Midland Park, NJ. Virginia was a former Sunday School Teacher at the First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey and a former Girl Scout leader in Ramsey. She will be sadly missed by her family.
