Elizabeth E. Dodzweit, 45, formerly of Lima, died suddenly on Thursday, June 14, 2001, in Delray Beach, Florida. She was predeceased by her parents, Siegfried and Esther Dodzweit, and her brother, Philip Dodzweit. She is survived by daughter, Melissa Campese of Delray Beach, FL; three brothers, Arthur Victor (Joy) Dodzweit of Florida, Benjamin (Sarah) Dodzweit of Lima, and Hugo Dodzweit of Switzerland; three sisters, Sharon Rose (Bernard) Evans of Lima, Joy (John) Stutzman of Elmira, and Gloria Dodzweit of Switzerland; stepmother, Mathilda Dodzweit of Germany; aunt, Hannah Stewart of Montana; and nieces and nephews.
Friends called Monday at the O’Connell-Dougherty Funeral Home in Lima. Services were held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Elim Gospel Church, Lima. Interment was held at Oakridge Cemetery, Lima.

JOHN P. DUNN
John P. Dunn, 71, of Mt. Morris, died Thursday, June 28, 2001. Beloved husband of Suzanne "Suz"; beloved father of Deborah (John) Schmidt, of Mt. Morris; Mark (Cynthia) Dunn, of New Hartford, NY; Christine (William) Fortune, of Avon; Thomas (Elizabeth) Dunn, of Honeoye Falls; Christopher (Lisa) Dunn, of Tampa, FL; Olinda (Warren) Bailey, of San Francisco, CA; beloved grandfather of Jennifer, Matthew, Allison, Lauren, Lainey, Vanessa, Brennan, Caitlin, Jeffery, Jonathan, Savannah and Andrew; brother of Robert P. Dunn, of Rochester.
Mr. Dunn was a graduate of Potsdam Teachers College and received his MS in Education from Brockport State College. He began his teaching career in 1958 in Waterloo, NY, where he taught for 18 years. During his tenure at Waterloo, he coached football and multiple Section 5 basketball teams. Active in school and community organizations, Mr. Dunn devoted himself to the mentoring and nurturing of the local youth. In 1976, he became Superintendent of Schools in Springfield, NY. From 1977-86, he led the Mt. Morris Central School District until his retirement. Districts in many areas sought Mr. Dunn’s expertise and he began a new career as Interim Superintendent in various districts in the Oneida, Herkimer, Madison BOCES and Livingston, Steuben, Wyoming BOCES. In all, 12 school districts benefited from his experience and leadership.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Dunn recognized the great importance of family and enjoyed the activities of his children and grandchildren with great pleasure. He regarded his large extended family his greatest achievement.
Friends called on Sunday, July 1, at the John W. Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. A Memorial Service was held on Monday, July 2, at the United Church of Mt. Morris. Memorials may be made in John’s memory to the Livingston County Hospice Fund, 2 County Campus, Mt. Morris, NY 14510.
SUZANNE J. (COLLINS) DAVIS
Suzanne J. Davis, of Honeoye Falls, formerly of Springwater, NY, died recently. She is survived by her daughter, Maria Davis; and son, Michael Davis; her parents, Daniel and Judith Patrick Collins; two sisters, Barbara (James) Grisiom and Janet (William) Bauer; grandmother, Thelma D. Patrick; three aunts, Kathleen (Joe) Norman, Carol Collins and Terry Campbell; two great aunts; two nieces and one nephew; and many cousins.
Friends called on Monday, July 2 at the Merton H. Kays Funeral Home in Honeoye Falls. Services were held on Tuesday, July 3 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Episcopal Avenue in Honeoye Falls.

ROLAND R. HILL
Roland Roe Hill, 85, died on Sunday, July 1, 2001, at the F.F. Thompson Memorial Hospital in Canandaigua. Born December 21, 1915, in Goshen, Mr. Hill was the son of Frank and Ruth (Roe) Hill. He is survived by his children, Melodye Mack of Rochester, Heather Roll of Webster, Robert (Debbie) of Lima, Holly (John) O’Shaughnessy of Bartonsville, PA, and Martha (Richard) Chase of MA; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was a retired parts manager from Pacesetter Nissan in Rochester. He was WW II Navy Veteran and a member of the VFW Kenneth Keating Post No. 29 in Lima. As a member of the Post, he served as Quartermaster and Post Commander. In 1985, Mr. Hill was instrumental in starting the Lima Down-Hill Derby, which he ran for the last 15 years.
Calling hours and funeral services were held at the O’Connell-Dougherty Funeral Home in Lima with the Rev. Corey Keyes officiating. Interment was held at the Oakridge Cemetery, Lima.
LORETTA E. (VANHALL) HOOKSTRA
Loretta E. (VanHall) Hookstra, 62, died Monday, July 2, 2001. She called both Sodus Point and Sun City Center, Florida, her homes. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Gary M.; a daughter, Julie Hookstra, of Rochester; two sons, Gregory (Beth) of Virginia, and Eric (Janet) of Honeoye Falls; grandchildren, Caleb, Jeffrey and Brian Hookstra; and many more family and friends.
She was a retiree of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District’s Department of Transportation. She was a member of the Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club, the Cypress Greens Golf Club of Florida, and the Sodus Bay Historical Society.
Services were held at the Grace Baptist Church in Marion. Private interment was held at Lake View Cemetery, Pultneyville. Expressions of sympathy may be directed in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 1400 Winton Rd. N., PO Box 10609, Rochester, NY 14610.
PATRICIA W. NORTHRUP
Patricia W. Northrup, of Spring Water, formerly of Honeoye Falls, died suddenly on Saturday, June 30, 2001. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald E. Northrup; three daughters, Mary (Henry) Rose, Barbara (Louis) DiMartino, and Beverly (Dale) Lovejoy; three sons, Donald (Karen), Craig (Lori), and Paul J. (Teresa); grandchildren, Tracy (David) Poole, Brent Rose, Chip Northrup, Nichole Northrup, Kyle DiMartino, Shawn Lovejoy, Ariel and Kelly Lovejoy, and Michael Northrup; step-grandchildren, Rachel Coye, and Kevin and Kurt Peri; one great-granddaughter, Amelia Rose Poole; brother, John Wood; nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Services were held at the Merton Kays Funeral Home in Honeoye Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Paul of The Cross Church in Honeoye Falls. ALICE J. SCHMITT
Alice J. Schmitt, of Rush, died Monday, July 2, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Joseph; children, Joseph Schmitt, Patti Smith, Judy (Harry) Burnett, and Kenneth (Debbi) Schmitt; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass was held at Henry D. Halloran Son, Inc., Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Rush. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 320 Lexington Ave., Rochester, NY 14613.
DIMYTRO BANACH
Dimytro Banach, of Avon, 81, died on Wednesday, July 18 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.
Mr. Banach was born on October 29, 1919 in Manhattan, NY, the son of James Banach and Mary (Kupchuk) Banach. He was retired from his position as a custodian at the Smith Town School System in Long Island, NY. He was also a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by his daughter, Annette Savastano of Ronkonkoma, NY; son, Donald Banach of Florida; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Teresa Holub of Avon and Lillian (Jake) Bontrager of Alaska; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Ruth) Banach of LaGrangeville, NY, and Daniel (Ruth) Banach of California; nine grandchildren, Seth and Luke Banach, and John, Charles, Donald, Douglas, Louis, Cindy and Deborah Savastano; 16 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
