REV. ERWIN H. F. STECHHOLZ
The Rev. Erwin Stechholz, of Victor-Mendon Road, Pastor Emeritus of St. Mark Lutheran Church, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 5, 2000. He was pastor of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Mendon, from 1953 to 1982 and later Pastor Emeritus. He also conducted a 30-year ministry in local nursing homes. He was 87.
The son of the late Rev. Hugo F. R. Stechholz and Louise Breisch Stechholz, and grandson of the late Rev. H. C. W. Stechholz, Rev. Stechholz was born in Patterson, New Jersey, on September 21, 1913. After attending public schools in Manchester, Connecticut, he graduated from Concordia Preparatory Institute and Concordia College, Bronxville, NY, in preparation for his ministerial career. He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Illinois, and was ordained into the ministry of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod in 1946.
Prior to his 29-year tenure at the Mendon church, Rev. Stechholz served as an Assistant Pastor in St. Albans, Queens, and as Pastor at parishes in Angola, NY, and New Kensington, PA. During his local pastorate, he became involved in cooperative ecumenical efforts with St. Catherine’s of Siena Roman Catholic Church and Mendon Presbyterian Church, conducting joint Vacation Bible School programs between the three churches for several years. He retired as pastor of St. Mark’s congregation in 1982.
In 1978, he was honored by his alma mater, Concordia Seminary, for his service to the Church of Christ. He celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination in 1996.
In addition, the Rev. Stechholz conducted monthly Christian services and visitations at some 30 nursing and proprietary homes in the Greater Rochester Area under the auspices of the then Rochester Lutheran Mission Society, beginning in 1969 and concluding at the end of 1999.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Myra H. Behland; daughter, Claudia (Michael) Chiaro, of Griffith, IN; two sons, the Rev. David (Janet) Stechholz, of South San Francisco and Jonathan (Debra) Stechholz, of Levittown, NY; three sisters, Pauline (Grover) White of FL, Almeda Stechholz and Sylvia Stechholz, of Manchester, CT; and brother, Ewald (Edith) Stechholz, of Vernon, CT; five grandchildren, Andrew, Mary and Sarah, of South San Francisco, Dennis, of Manchester and Melissa, of Griffith; and three step-grandchildren, Brian, Nicholas and Rebecca Casasola, of Levittown, as well as his church family at St. Mark’s congregation.
Funeral Services were held in St. Mark Lutheran Church, in Mendon, on Friday, December 8, 2000. Interment Mendon Cemetery. Friends wishing may contribute to St. Mark Lutheran Church in his memory.

MARY K. KLEINHANS
Mrs. Mary K. Kleinhans, 77, died Wednesday, December 6, 2000 at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Kleinhans was born March 5, 1923, the daughter of John Leonard, and Mary (Pendergast) Leonard. She was a member of the Lima Golden Agers. She was predeceased by her husband Herman Kleinhans in 1996.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Sheila (Robert) Emmert, of Fairport; three sons and daughters-in-law, Herman "David" (Jan) Kleinhans, of Central Square, New York, John (Karen) Kleinhans, of Honeoye Falls, and Robert Kleinhans, of Rochester; brother and sister-in-law John (Laura) Leonard, of Lima; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held at the O’Connell-Drowne Funeral Home, Lima. Her Funeral Mass was held at St. Rose Church. Contributions may be made to the Adult Health Day Care (Livingston County Campus Bldg #1 Mt. Morris, NY 14510) in her memory.
Interment St. Rose Cemetery, Lima, NY.

RICHARD W. HOLMES,
Mr. Richard W. Holmes, 85, died on Thursday, November 30, 2000 at the F. F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, New York.
Mr. Holmes was born December 20, 1914 in Corning, New York, the son of James Holmes, and Lora (Tevis) Holmes. Mr. Holmes was retired from Kadis Manufacturing Company in Honeoye Falls. He was a World War II Army veteran where he served in the 353rd Bomb Squadron. He was predeceased by his wife Ellen Holmes in 1987.
He is survived by his daughter Tevis E. (Holmes) Maurer of Lima; two granddaughters Tevis K. and Melody Maurer; great granddaughter Tevanna; special friend Sheila Kotwas; and sister Elinor Weinberg of Rochester.
His Memorial Service was held at the Lima Presbyterian Church. Rev. Kay Michelinie officiating. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 10609 Rochester, New York 14610) in his memory. Interment Oakridge Cemetery, Lima, New York. Arrangements by the O’Connell - Drowne Funeral Home, Lima, NY.

AUSTIN J. (JERRY) SMALLIDGE, JR.
Mr. Austin (Jerry) Smallidge Jr., originally from Honeoye Falls, died on Sunday, November 26, 2000 at the age of 67 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Jerry graduated from Honeoye Falls High School in the Class of 1951, and from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in 1955. He was employed at Gleason Works in Rochester, where he met his wife. The couple had six children.
Mr. Smallidge and his family moved to Florida, in 1964 where he was employed by General Electric in the Apollo Space Program. He transferred to the Space Center in Houston, Texas, in 1965, and then came to Phoenix, in 1969. He also worked in Iran and Saudia Arabia for several years, before coming back to the Phoenix area.
Jerry was predeceased by his daughter, Marilyn, in 1979. He is survived by his sister, Joanne (Manuel) Franco of Rochester; daughters Roseann, Lenore, Kathryn (Jack) McCormack; sons, Gregory (Susan) and Jeffrey; and two grandchildren.
A Memorial Service was held on December 4, 2000 at S.S. Simon and Jude Cathedral in Phoenix, Arizona.

JAMES H. BROKAW, JR.
James H. Brokaw, Jr., of Rochester, formerly of Honeoye Falls, died suddenly on Tuesday, January 2, 2001. He is survived by his parents, James and Katharine Brokaw; a sister, Christine, Brokaw; his paternal grandmother, Arlene Brokaw; his maternal grandfather, J. Henry Ford; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Friends called on Sunday, January 7, at the Merton H. Kays Funeral Home in Honeoye Falls, where Services were held on Monday, January 8. Interment at North Bloomfield Cemetery.
Friends wishing to may express their sympathy with a donation to a children’s charity.

HELEN M. HEALY
Mrs. Helen M. Healy, formerly of Honeoye Falls, died on Tuesday, January 2, 2001. She was predeceased by her husband, Milton Healy. She is survived by her son, John (Dorothy) Healy, of Leland, North Carolina; daughter-in-law Rose Healy, of Oregon; six grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements made through the Merton H. Kays funeral Home in Honeoye Falls.

DELORES (MAMOONE) JARVIS
Delores (Mamoone) Jarvis, 70, formerly of Honeoye Falls, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2000 in Milton, Delaware, where funeral services were held.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Norman L. Jarvis; her daughters, Barbara, Karen and Janet; her sons, David and William; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her mother Mary Mamoone of Honeoye Falls; her sisters Shirley (Henry) Besanceny, of Honeoye Falls, and Virginia (Joseph) Conn, of Wesley Chapel, Florida; her sister-in-law Beverly Mamoone, of Victor; her brother Thomas (Catherine) Mamoone, of Canandaigua, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father Joseph Mamoone, Sr. and her brother Joseph Mamoone, Jr.
