Kenneth Mason of Mumford, formerly of Ilion, New York, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2000. He is predeceased by his wife, Bertha. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Edward) Barkley; grandchildren, Stephen (Maryann), Timothy Barkley, Deborah (Douglas) Home, Lauren (James) Hunter; and great-grandchildren, Lisa and Rachael Home, Carrie and Shawn Barkley, Kayla, Nicholas, and Stephanie Hunter.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, October 14 at the First Baptist Church, Dakin Street, Mumford. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Steeple Fund, PO Box 279, Mumford 14511.
JULIAN J. MATLA, SR.
Julian J. Matla, Sr., of Scottsville, died on Wednesday, October 11, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Alice M.; two sons, Joseph (Lynne), Julian, Jr. (Lorie) Matla; two granddaughters, Sarrah and Sophia; a sister, Irene (Frank) Vigneri; a brother, Gerald (Carol) Bauer Matla; and nieces and nephews.

ROSE DEMARTINIS OSTRANDER
Rose DeMartinis Ostrander, 93, a West Bloomfield, native and former Henrietta, resident, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2000 at the Elm Manor Nursing Home in Canandaigua. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Robert and Maxine Lay, Patricia Read, Kim and Shirley DeMartinis; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Services were held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in West Bloomfield Cemetery. Contributions in Mrs. Ostrander’s memory may be made to the West Bloomfield Congregational Church, 9035 Routes 5&20, West Bloomfield NY 14585.
John G. Gilbert
Mr. John Gilbert, of North Fort Myers, FL, and Old Forge, NY, and formerly of Honeoye Falls, and Lima, NY, died peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2000 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. His wife of 43 years, Judy Hollister Gilbert, sons Christopher (Amy) of Greenville, South Carolina and Stewart (Corie) of Old Forge, and four grandsons survive John.
REV. KARL E. KUEBLER
The Rev. Karl E. Kuebler, of Honeoye Falls, formerly of Mattituck, New York, died on Monday, October 16, 2000. His wife, Alice, predeceases him. He is survived by daughter, Ann Louise (Gerhard) Pera; son, Charles E. (Lynn) Kuebler; six grandchildren, Mark B. (Denise) Beese, Katherine Ann Beese, Brian (Karen) E. Kuebler, Brandon E. Kuebler, John S. Kuebler, and Karl E. Kuebler; two great-grandchildren, Emily Elizabeth Beese and Benjamin Mark Beese; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, October 20 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 18 Victor-Mendon Road. Interment Pine Lawn Cemetery, Huntington, New York. In lieu of flowers friends wishing may contribute to St. Mark Lutheran Church Building Fund in memory of Rev. Kuebler.
SHARON L. RAY
Sharon L. Ray, 61, of Winmark Way, Honeoye Falls, died on Wednesday, October 18, 2000 at Strong Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born in Hartwick, New York on April 9, 1939. Surviving her are one son, John F. Ray Sr., of Amsterdam, New York; three daughters, Diane L. Wolfe of Honeoye Falls, Marie A. McNeill of Gloversville, New York, and Susan E. Ray of Amsterdam, New York; four brothers; one sister; five grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Ray was employed as a sales manager for Kaufmann’s Department Store and as a front-end associate for Wegman’s Grocery Store.
The funeral was held on Tuesday, October 24, at the Riley Mortuary in Amsterdam, New York and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Michael The Archangel Church. Interment will be at Hartwick Cemetery, Hartwick, New York.
A memorial service in the Rochester area will be held at a later date and will be announced. Gary W. Kurchyn, of Mendon, died on Saturday, October 21, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; son, Eric and daughter, Bridget; his parents, Frank and Martha Kurchyn; a sister, Gail (John Howard); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Karen and Maureen Leaderer, Jacqueline Hogan, Brian and Kevin Leaderer; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends called on Sunday and Monday, October 22 and 23 at the Zornow Hedges Funeral Home in Pittsford. A Memorial Mass was held on Tuesday, October 24 at St. Louis Church in Pittsford. JOAN L. LAROSE (CULLINGWORTH)
Mrs. Joan L. LaRose died on Friday, October 20, 2000 after a long battle with breast cancer, at the age of 55. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Roy; her mother, Virginia Cullingworth Stauber of Scottsville; her brother, James (Melanie) Cullingworth; daughters, Shelly Kane, Tracey (Stephen) Callari, Wendy (Hiko) Straut; son, Chad; step-daughter, Michelle (Joe) Spampinato; nine beautiful grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Joan was a person who dedicated her time and efforts to children and seniors. She was a board member of the Rush-Henrietta Athletic Association for 16 years, an avid bowler and league secretary for 25 years and coordinator for the senior bowlers at Olympic Bowl.
Friends called at the J.H. Cameron Funeral Home in Scottsville on Sunday and Monday, October 22 and 23. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, October 24, at the Union Presbyterian Church in Scottsville.
