Charles E. Hilbert, Jr., of Honeoye Falls, died on Wednesday, June 7, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary (Caccamise) Hilbert; five daughters and sons-in-law, Caren E. (Frank) Nichols of Michigan, Margaret R. (Skip) Lewis, Deborah A. (Jon) Hoeft, Jeanine M. (Bruce) Velan of Chazy, New York, Maria G. (Michael) Lustyk; foster daughter, Heather E. Lynch; one son, Robert S. Hilbert; father, Charles E. Hilbert, Sr., of Dallas, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara A. (Harold) Clark, of Callas, Texas; 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson, Mathew A. Nichols and brother, Gerald L. Hilbert.
Calling hours were held on Friday, June 9, 2000 at the O’Connell Drowne Funeral Home in Lima. A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, June 10, 2000 at St. Paul of the Cross Church.
Mr. Hilbert was born October 16, 1923 in Rochester, NY and had been a resident of Honeoye Falls for over 50 years. He was the son of Charles E. Hilbert, Sr. and the late Marguerite (Lawrence) Hilbert.
Mr. Hilbert was an Army Veteran of World War II, and received the American Service Medal, EAME Service Medal, World War Victory Medal and the Purple Heart. He was a past member of the American Legion Post #664 in Lima, NY. He was also a past volunteer of the Honeoye Falls Fire Department.
Mr. Hilbert attended St. Paul of the Cross Church where he and Rose Mary were married 55 years ago. Charles and Rose Mary served as foster parents for many years.
Mr. Hilbert had been currently employed at Agway in Hemlock, NY.
Contributions maybe made to the American Cancer Society (PO Box 10609, Rochester, NY) in his memory. Interment, St. Paul of the Cross Cemetery.
VIRGENE D. HARRIS
Virgene D. Harris, of Honeoye Falls, died on Thursday, June 8, 2000. She was predeceased by her husband, Orson Harris. She is survived by her niece, Sharon (David) Hafenstiner; great-nieces, Lisa (Tom) Buschang, Wendy (Michael) Sereno; great-nephew, Timothy (Karin) Garrett; sisters-in-law, Ruby Rumsey, Ferne Fires, Joyce Lozier; and special friend, Carolyn Moffitt.
Calling hours were on Saturday, June 10, 2000 and services were held on Sunday, June 11, 2000 at the Merton Kays Funeral Home in Honeoye Falls. Interment, Mendon Cemetery.

RUTH REBMAN STRAUB
Mrs. Ruth Rebman Straub, of Bloomfield, died on Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at the Clifton Springs Hospital.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce (James) Buck; her son, Roger (Lucy) Straub; her sisters, Elizabeth Ford, Florence Lewis and Margaret Snoddy; a sister-in-law, Barbara Rebman; a brother-in-law, Everett Lewis; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, June 10. Contributions may be made to the East Bloomfield-Holcomb Volunteer Ambulance. Arrangements were made by the Kennedy & Son Funeral Home in East Bloomfield.
LUCILLE ANN WHITE
Lucille Ann White, of Honeoye Falls, died on Friday, June 9, 2000. She is survived by one son; Paul (Gerry) White; daughter-in-law, Helen White; four grandchildren, Gerrianne (Andy) Mroczek, Steven (Pat Brooks) White, Kenneth (Diane) White and Richard (Laura) White; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Miller; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence M White; and two sons, Clarence C. and Elton.
Friends called at the Merton H. Kays Funeral home in Honeoye Falls, where services were held on Wednesday, June 14. Interment at Honeoye Falls Cemetery.
LEONARD L. MENZ
Mr. Leonard M. Menz, of Honeoye Falls, died on Saturday, June 10, 2000. He is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Kim) DeMartinis; four grandchildren, Vickie (Steven) Coykendall, Linda DeMartinis, Barbara Statt and Shaun (Andrea) DeMartinis; two great grandsons, Timothy Coykendall and Derek DeMartinis; and nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Merton H. Kays Funeral Home in Honeoye Falls, on Monday. Services were held there on June 13. Interment at Honeoye Falls Cemetery. Friends may express their sympathy to the Lima Fire Department in memory of Mr.Menz.
DR. MICHAEL J.R. LARSEN
Dr. Michael Larsen died unexpectedly the week of June 4, 2000 at the age of 62. He was born in London, England to Ann Larsen and John Futter and raised in Honeoye Falls by his parents Gerard and Ann Larsen. As a child, Mike was very active in sports and scouting where he achieved the title of Eagle Scout; later he went on to become a scoutmaster. He attended Syracuse University where he attained a doctorate degree in Forest Mycology in 1965. While at university, Mike was part of a crew that won a gold medal in rowing at the 1959 Pan American games.
He began his career with the Canadian Department of’ Fisheries and Forestry. In 1970, he transferred to the Forest Products Laboratory in Madison, Wisconsin. He was a key member of the Poison Control Center in Madison. In 1993, Mike joined the Rocky Mountain Research Station in Moscow, Idaho. He pioneered research efforts that were critical in understanding the effects of logging in the Pacific Northwest; as a result several world monographs were published on various fungi and he has had numerous refereed journal publications. He contributed to many graduate student committees, is a member of several national and international societies and was an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin. Mike also provided botanical consulting services in South America.
Among his favorite pastimes were trout fishing, hunting, downhill skiing and raising Labrador Retrievers. He was a member of the National Ski Patrol at Devil’s Head Resort for 10 years.
He is survived by his parents Ann and Gerard Larsen of Cambridge, Wisconsin; siblings Elizabeth Laird, Peter Futter and Ian Futter of Canada; eight children, Scott Larsen of Garden City, Kansas, Audi Johnson and Steven Larsen of St. Paul, Minnesota, Ernily Larsen of Lodi, Wisconsin, Caitlin Larsen of Seattle, Washington, John and Christopher Persike of Lodi, Wisconsin, and Jaime Radtke of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren, David, Devin, Morgan, Garrett, Brandon, Sarah, Christian, Caleb, Hailey, Casey, and Riley; and his beloved dog "Cad."
Memorial services were held on Thursday, June 15, 2000 at Willerup United Methodist Church in Cambridge, Wisconsin. Burial will be at the church cemetery. A memorial fund has been set up at the M & I Bank South, P.O. Box 7, Cambridge, WI 53523 in Dr. Larsen’s name. The family requests that memorials be given in lieu of flowers. We all love him dearly and will miss him so much. Nitardy Funeral Home of Cambridge is assisting the family.
NANCY (HUNT) (EMBLIDGE) MAMDANI
Mrs. Nancy Mamdani died on Monday, June 12, 2000 in Omaha, Nebraska, at age 52 after 10 years of courageously living with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Called an angel by those whose lives were touched with her kind and gentle ways, she now rests in God's loving arms.
Nancy was born in Rochester, and attended Elmira College. She also attended the International Christian University and Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan, where she majored in Asian studies. In Tokyo, she met her future husband, Nizar Mamdani of Tanzania. They were married in Nairobi, Kenya in 1969 and moved to the US in 1971, eventually settling in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dearly loved by her family and friends, she is survived by her husband, Nizar; daughter and son, Amira and Jamil Mamdani of Atlanta, Georgia; mother and stepfather, June and Roger Emblidge of Rush; father, William M. Hunt (Marilyn Yeager) of Churchville; brothers and sisters, David (Debra) Hunt of Livonia, Laurie (Ronald) Salladin of Rochester, William H. (Julianne) Hunt of Churchville, Carolyn (Hunt) Robinson of Richmond, Virginia, Douglas (Coleen) Emblidge of Pittsford, Mark Emblidge of Penfield; many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends. She is predeceased by stepmother, Barbara B. Hunt.
A celebration of her life is planned for July 8, time and place to be announced. Pictures and remembrances are welcomed.
