U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-Current

Luskey, Bernice C. (Cary), On April 14, 2001 at the age of 92. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Francis J. Luskey; daughter, Margaret (Steven) Luskey-Feld; son, Francis Timothy (Irina) Luskey; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Prior to her marriage, she was a teacher in the Schenectady Public School System for 18 years. Graduate of Brockport State Normal School, class of 1930. During her teaching years, she took courses at night and on weekends at the New York State Teacher's College where she earned her bachelor's degree. This school is now known as the State University of Albany. In 1950 and 1951 she took a leave of absence to care for her father who was ill. During this time, she studied at Brockport State College and earned her master's degree. On September 1, 1951 she married an old acquaintance, Francis J. Luskey.
A Funeral Mass was said April 17 at the Church of the Nativity, B.V.M., Brockport. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, at a later date. Donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.

McElhany, Elizabeth V., on April 12, 2001. Predeceased by her husband, Edward D. McElhany; son, Edward V. McElhany. Survived by son, Steven (Susan) McElhany and several grandchildren. Elizabeth was a retired school teacher from the Westfield, NY school system.
Funeral Services were held April 17 at First United Presbyterian Church, Dunkirk, NY. Memorials can be made to the church, 10 West Fourth Street, Dunkirk, NY 14048.

Steffen, Earl C., Suddenly, April 4, 2001. Predeceased by his parents, Charles Steffen (1900-1985) and Arline Steffen (1902-1999); his wife, Arlene Steffen (1926-1998). He is survived by sons, David (Terri) Steffen, Wayne (Sandra) Steffen, Paul Steffen and Neil (Paula) Steffen; daughter, Diane (Dale) Cooper-Currier; sister, Rhea del Solar; grandchildren, Kelsey, Clara and Sierra Steffen; other special family members including Mark and Melanie Cooper and Alysa and Lyndsey Currier; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Mr. Steffen was active in the community as board member and past president of both the Parma Public Library and Monroe County Library System, voting member for the Rochester Public Library Board of Trustees, past member of the Town of Parma Zoning Board, member of Churchville Lodge #667 (Right Worshipful), Grotto, Damascus Shrine, Rochester Consistory and Vestry Member of St. George's Episcopal Church, Hilton.
Funeral Services were held April 17 at St. George's Episcopal Church. Contributions can be made to St. George's Church, 635 Wilder Road, Hilton, NY 14468 or Alzheimer's Association, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620.

Grastorf, Clair T., February 28, 2001 at age 85. Father of Gary (Cheryl), Judy, and Rick (Diane); also survived by two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; husband of the late Millicent.
Funeral Services were held March 3 at the H.E. Turner Funeral Home, Bergen. Memorials can be made to Patient Activities Fund, LeRoy Village Green.

Hulburt, Van Allen, At ate 63 on March 3, 2001 after a long battle with lung cancer. Survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Helen Clements Hulburt; his three children, Judy (Wayne) Holly of Honeoye Falls, Jill (David) Szydlowski of Pittsford and Jerry Hulburt of Texas; 10 grandchildren; mother, Kathryn Hulburt of York; sister, Barbara (Dr. William) Anderson of Geneseo; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was a guidance counselor, teacher and coach at Byron-Bergen Central School. He was a Past Master of the Hesperus Masonic Lodge #837 in Bergen.
A Funeral Service was held March 11 at the Byron Presbyterian Church. Memorials can be made to the Church.

Lacy, Cecil E., Age 74, on February 27, 2001. Beloved husband of the late Helen Redington Lacy; father of Deborah (Thomas Mayne) Magoffin of Albion, William (Leeanne) Lacy of Bergen, Robert (Frances Smith) of Spencerport; brother of the late Elizabeth Finch. Also survived by three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held March 2 at Weeks Funeral Home, Inc., Warsaw. Interment in West Middlebury Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Lakeside Foundation.

Bevona, Joseph J., March 3, 2001. Survived by his loving wife, Cecily Bevona; sister, Frances Minges; daughters, Cherie (Raul Fernandez) Bevona and Devra Bevona; his son, J. James (Ann Hoock) Bevona; also survived by grandchildren, Natalie and Daniel Bevona.
A Memorial Mass was said March 7 at St. Helen's Church. Interment at Grove Place Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Peter's Kitchen, 681 Brown Street, 14611.

Reynolds, Eileen E. (McGurn), March 4, 2001. Survived by her husband of 54 years, George Reynolds; sisters and brother Jean Gabrych, Agnes (Gerald) Reynolds, Teresa (Leonard) Whitcraft, Lorraine Weekes, Leona (James) Chamberlain and John McGurn; sisters-in-law, Laura Cunningham, June Reynolds and Joan McGurn; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Mass was held March 8 at St. Helen's Church. Interment private. Donations can be sent to the School of the Holy Childhood, 100 Groton Parkway, Rochester 14623.

DeRoller, Geraldine A., At age 69, on March 1, 2001 at her home in Clarendon. Mrs. DeRoller worked as a switchboard operator for Lakeside Hospital before joining her husband at Ser-Vex, an appliance repair company owned by her and her late husband.
She is predeceased by her husband, Ralph DeRoller Jr. and her son Ralph Stephen DeRoller. She is survived by her children Mark DeRoller of Holley, Laurie (Charles) Waterman of Hamlin. Also surviving are one grandson; one sister, Laney Stever of Hilton; one niece and one nephew.
A prayer service was held on March 3 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home in Holley and was followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Mary's Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Those wishing can make memorial remembrances to the Clarendon Fire Department.

O'Neill, Allen R., February 12, 2001 in Lakeland, Florida at age 61 formerly of Hamlin. Survived by wife, Joan; daughters, Mary Ann (Rich) Phillips of Florida, Diane (Rick) Eakins of Florida; son, Jim of Florida; brothers, Gene of Rochester and Paul of California. He is also survived by six grandchildren and many friends and family members. He was a retiree of Delco Products of 30 years.
Memorial Services were held on March 10 at St. Anne's Church, Rochester.
