Ruth Vanderbilt
Aug. 24, 1996
Ruth J. (Sloan) Vanderbilt, 82, of Birchwood Ave., Rensselaer, died Saturday after a short illness at her residence.
Born in Brattleboro, she was the daughter of the Edward and Louise Sloan. She was a homemaker all of her life and a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church, Rensselaer, where she served as a trustee and flower chairperson; and member of the Get-Together-Girls of the Watervliet Reformed Church.
Survivors include her husband, Chester W. Vanderbilt two daughters, Dawn Marie Coon of Troy, Tracie Lynn Anderson, Colonie; brothers Frank Sloan of Schoharie, and William Sloan of Oregon, sisters, Ethel Sloann of Waterford, and Rita Hafer of Albany, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Broadway United Methodist Church in Rensselaer.
Calling hours are Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the William J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer. Interment will be in the Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Scholarship Fund of the Broadway United Methodist Church or the St. Peter's Hospice of Rensselaer County, 8 North Lake Ave., Troy, 12180.

Charles Pamadora
Aug. 24, 1996
Charles P. Pamadora, 79, of Holland Gardens Apartments, Amsterdam, died late Saturday evening at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Utica, Sept. 11, 1916, he was a son of Salvatore and Vennera Marchese Pamadora. He was educated there and moved to Amsterdam in 1937. He was employed for 27 years by the former Octavio's Shoe Hospital in Amsterdam, and later for 17 years as a driver for the State University of New York at Albany, retiring in 1979.
Mr. Pamadora was an Army veteran during World War II and served in the Pacific Theater, receiving four battle stars and the Amphibious Landing Medal.
He was a communicant of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church and was a member of its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Columbian Social Club and the Post 55 Veterans Of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, the former Nancy Salamack, whom he married Jan. 9, 1944; one daughter, Mary Rose Turo of Saratoga; one son, Salvatore C. Pamadora of Gansevoort, NY.; three sisters, Josephine Ciruzzi, Christina Gigliotto and Alvera Capuana all of Utica; six grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Michael The Archangel Church.
Interment is in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the Columbian Social Club will meet at 6:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Amsterdam or to the Make a Wish Foundation in care of the Rossi Funeral Home.

Carl Dunham
Aug. 24, 1996
Carl G. Dunham, 68, of Beaver Street, Gloversville, died Saturday at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Gloversville, Mr. Dunham attended Gloversville schools and was a lifelong area resident.
He was employed by several area companies as a truck driver, retiring from the former Crushin Construction Company in Johnstown in 1970, due to ill health.
Mr. Dunham was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans of Fulton County and the Lazy 8 Model Airplane Club.
He served in the Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Meher Dunham, whom he married Feb. 26, 1949; a son, Kenneth G. Dunham of Gloversville; two daughters, Sharon Brasure and Deborah M. Purcell, both of Johnstown, 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

John Crocitti
Aug. 30, 1996
John Crocitti, 90, of Highland Gardens, Amsterdam, died late Friday evening at the Montgomery County Infirmary after a brief illness.
Born in Radicena, Province of Calabria, Italy, Oct. 8, 1905, a son of Domenico A. and Mary Montarelli Crocitti, he came to the U.S. in 1921 and lived in Amsterdam most of his life.
Mr. Crocitti was employed as a weaver for Mohasco Corp. and later as a clerk for the New York State Teachers Retirement System in Albany, retiring in 1975.
He was a trumpet player and played in the former Mohawk Mills Band and the Wyszomirski Post Legion Band at one time.
He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and served at one time as an usher.
He was the last surviving charter member and past president of the Columbian Social Club. From 1922 to 1927, he served with Company G. 105th Infantry of the National Guard.
His first wife, the former Louise Squillace, died in 1938. He married the former Helen Calvano in 1948.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary A. Stachnik of Amsterdam; two sons, Louise Crocitti of Rochester and John Crocitti of Miami; three brothers, Samuel Crocetti of Watertown, Mass., Dominic Crocetti of Louisville, Ky., and Joseph Crocetti of Amsterdam; five grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are Monday at 8:30 a.m. at the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Calling hours are today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the Columbian Social Club will gather for prayers at 6:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Church or to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps in care of Rossi Funeral Home.

Anthony Milewski Sr.
Aug. 30, 1996
Anthony S. Milewski Sr., 85, of Kline Street, Amsterdam, died late Friday evening at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born in Mechanicville April 16, 1911, a son of Stanley and Alice Milewski, he moved to Amsterdam 78 years ago and lived here since.
He was employed by the former Collette Manufacturing Co., Sanford Carpet Mills and the American Locomotive Co. in Schenectady. He most recently worked for General Electric in Schenectady for 10 years as a pipe fitter, retiring in 1976.
An avid bowler, he was a member of several Amsterdam leagues.
He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and a former member of the Community Seniors.
Survivors include his wife, the former Philomena Costanza, whom he married Dec. 2, 1939; a son, Anthony S. Milewski Jr. of Amsterdam; a daughter, Marie Carter of Corvallis, Ore.; a brother, Joseph Smith of Plymouth, Mich; a sister, Freida Zak of Southfield, Mich.; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Calling hours are Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Memorial Fund.

Michael Morrone
Aug. 30, 1996
Michael P. Morrone, 79, of Mary Street, Tribes Hill, died late Friday evening at the Samuel Stratton Veterans Medical Center in Albany after a brief illness.
Born in Amsterdam Jan. 21, 1917, the son of Paul and Maria Sista DiCaprio Morrone, he was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools.
Mr. Morrone was employed for 48 years by Santos Construction Co., retiring in 1980.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and served with the Medical Corps in Africa and Italy.
He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
Survivors include his long-time companion, Antoinette Cantiello of Amsterdam; a sister, Carmella Harrison of Amsterdam; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Memorial Fund or the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Arrangements are by the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place, Amsterdam.

Alice Jankowski
Aug. 31, 1996
Alice W. Jankowski, 90, formerly of 191 Mohawk Drive, Tribes Hill, died Saturday at the Palatine Nursing Home.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and under the direction of Boice Funeral Home, 124 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

Courtney Blowers
Aug. 27, 1996
Courtney M. Blowers, 29, of South Windsor, Ct., died Aug. 27 in South Windsor. Born June 23, 1967 in New London, Ct., she was the daughter of Janice M. and Willard G. Blowers.
Miss Blowers holds degrees from the Watkinson School in Hartford, a paralegal certificate from the Hartford College for Women, Hartford; and a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Hartford, West Hartford.
Survivors, including her parents, are her fiance, Brian Zawodniak of South Windsor, formerly of Wethersfield; her sister, Robin L. Blowers, of Hartford; her grandmothers, Ruth E. Frasier of Fultonville, and Mary R. Blowers of Johnstown; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Courtney Blowers Animal Adoption Fund at Valley Veterinary Hospital, 47 Patria Road, South Windsor, 06074; The Courtney Blowers Memorial Prize in English at the Watkinson School, 180 Bloomfield Avenue, Hartford, 06117; The Last Post (animal shelter ) 95 Belden St., Falls Village, Ct. 06031.
A celebration of her life will be held at The Watkinson School, 180 Bloominfield Ave., Hartford, at 3 p.m. Sept. 8.

Lewis Frederick
Sept. 2, 1996
Lewis S. Frederick, 72, of Argersinger Road, Fultonville, died Monday at home after a long illness.
Born in Tribes Hill, on Feb. 14, 1924, he was the son of Lewis S. Frederick Sr., and Marion Albrecht. Mr. Frederick attended local schools.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Frederick was a truck driver for Randall Implement, retiring earlier this year, due to the onset of illness.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Williams Frederick, whom he married Aug. 1, 1970; three daughters, Cindy Monk of Fultonville, Rose Palmer of Rochester and Kathy Thompson of Wichita, Kan.; four sons, Roger Frederick of Amsterdam, Scott Frederick of Fultonville, Joseph and Lewis Paul Frederick, both of Rochester; four sisters, Beverly Dutcher of Gloversville, Marie Doyle of Johnstown, Susan Bailey of Hope, Hamilton County, and Shirley Van Lone of Indiana; three brothers, Gene Frederick of Johnstown, Charles Frederick of Gloversville and Richard Frederick of Fonda; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown, with the Rev. Williams officiating. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Fern Dale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.

Gladys Birdsong
Sept. 3, 1996
Gladys E. Birdsong, 78, of the Palatine Nursing Home, died Tuesday at the nursing home.
Born Nov. 19, 1917 in the Town of Canajoharie, she was the daughter of Earl and Ethel Wessels Vosburgh. She was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, Class of 1935.
For 46 years, Mrs. Birdsong lived in Perrine, Fla., before moving back to Canajoharie.
She was married to Stephen Birdsong. He died in 1992.
Mrs. Birdsong was last employed at Burdine's Clothing Store in Miami, Fla. At one time, she worked in the office at Beech Nut in Canajoharie.
Mrs. Birdsong was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include her brother, Earl W. Vosburgh of Canajoharie; four sisters, Beatrice Voght and Marian Stevens, both of Canajoharie; Jean Peterson of St. Johnsville, and Norma Wells of Canajoharie; her step-father, Hyman Wasserman of Canajoharie; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, with the Rev. Wayne Cole, officiating. Burial will be in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery, Canajoharie.
Calling hours are from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Canajoharie Ambulance Corps or to a charity of one's choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

John O'Connor
Sept. 3, 1996
John F. O' Connor, 86, formerly of Willow Street, Gloversville, died Tuesday at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, after a long illness.
Born in Gloversville, Mr. O' Connor was a1929 graduate of Gloversville High School.
He was a clerk for the U.S. Post Office, retiring in 1976 after many years of service.
During World War II, Mr. O'Connor was a sergeant with the U.S. Army's 871st Ordnance Maintenance Company, serving in the Persian Gulf, New Zealand and Australia.
Many years ago, Mr. O'Connor worked at the Navy Depot in Scotia and for the General Electric Company in Schenectady.
Mr. O'Connor was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church.
He was a member of the American Postal Workers Union and the National Association of Postal Clerks. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include a sister, Lucinda Olsinski of Jackson Heights; and a brother, Emmett D. O'Connor of Johnstown.
A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the John W. Finocan Funeral Home, 13 Prospect Ave., followed at 9:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery in Fonda.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity.
