Paul Juhl
September 30, 1999
Paul D. Juhl, 61, of Middlefield, died Thursday at home.
He was born in Rockwell, Iowa.
For 36 years, he worked for the Clark Foundation.
Mr. Juhl was a member of the Light of the World Christian Fellowship Church in Springfield Center.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He married Margaret Elliott July 14, 1962.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Richard Juhl of Cooperstown; two daughters, Debra Bowen and Bonnie Wayman, both of Cherry Valley; two sisters, June Fisco of Willingboro, N.J., and Marge Bowen of Dolgeville; and 12 grandchildren.
Cremation took place at Leatherstocking Crematory, Cherry Valley.
A memorial service is scheduled at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Light of the World Christian Fellowship Church, routes 20 and 80, Springfield Center.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
Arrangements are by the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

Sophie Galka
September 30, 1999
Sophie "Sally" Galka, 85, of Delmar died Thursday at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.
She was born in Amsterdam.
Mrs. Galka was an office clerk at the Montgomery Ward Co., formerly of Menands, for 18 years, retiring in 1966.
She was a communicant of the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle.
Survivors include her husband, Philip J. Galka; two sons, Philip M. Galka of Guilderland and Robert D. Galka of Rochester; a daughter, Elaine Ciulik of Delmar; two sisters, Helen Wojna of Amsterdam and Frances Zarzycki of Schenectady; nine grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle.
Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar.

Anna Mae Lyons
October 23, 1999
Anna Mae Lyons, 80, formerly of Brookside Avenue, Amsterdam, died Saturday at Montgomery Meadows, where she had been a resident.
Born on Jan. 10, 1919, she was the daughter of Edward and Ellen Groark Lyons. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute and the Amsterdam School of Commerce. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident.
Miss Lyons was employed for the Montgomery County Dept. of Social Services for over 20 years, until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and a member of its Rotary Society.
Survivors include two nieces, Sharon Wocicki of Amsterdam and Norma Toscano of New York City and a nephew, Robert Lyons of Florida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, East Main Street, Amsterdam. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church Development Fund.
Arrangements are by the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

Marian Rogers
November 5, 1999
Marian D. Rogers, 84, of Locust Avenue, Amsterdam, died Friday at her home after a long illness.
Born in Amsterdam on Oct. 28, 1915, she was the daughter of James and Bertha Smith Rogers. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident.
Mrs. Rogers worked as a home health aide until her retirement. She was a member of the former Trinity Reformer Church, Amsterdam.
She was predeceased by her husband, John McClune and by a son, John R. McClune.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Kelli McClune of Clifton Park and Glary McClune of Cincinnati, Ohio; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. Interment will be in Hagaman Cemetery.
A calling hour will precede the funeral services, beginning at 12 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home.

Domenic Hayden
November 6, 1999
Domenic Joseph Hayden, infant son of Dr. Joel and Emelie Jenks Hayden of Shrewsbury, Mass., died Saturday night at Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston.
He was born Nov. 5 along with his twin brother Anthony Thomas.
Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Andrew B. Hayden and a twin, Anthony Thomas Hayden; maternal grandparents, Lee and JoAnn Jenks of Canajoharie; paternal grandparents, Jack and Joanne Hayden of Fort Plain; maternal great-grandmothers, Angie Marcellino of Canajoharie and Eleanor Jenks of Fort Plain; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Angels will be celebrated in the spring.
Burial will be in Sts. Peter & Paul's Cemetery, Canajoharie, in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Mohawk Valley Lions Club, 152 Duesler Road, Fort Plain 13339.
Arrangements are by the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie.

Winifred DiChello
November 7, 1999
Winifred DiChello, 77, of Sharon Springs Manor, Sharon Springs, formerly of Gorski Street, Amsterdam, died Sunday evening at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County, Cobleskill, after a long illness.
She was born July 19, 1922, in Amsterdam, the daughter of Thomas and Katherine Watras Szala. She was educated locally and was a lifelong area resident.
For several years she was employed by the former Collette Manufacturing Co. before retiring in 1983.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.
Her husband Thomas DiChello, died May 17, 1974.
Survivors include two daughters, Joann Wertz of Amsterdam and Barbara Misarko of Albany; three grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam.

Anthony Dominguez
November 6, 1999
Anthony M. Dominguez, 52, of Tolland, Conn., died Saturday after a long illness.
He was born in Elizabethtown, the son of Anthony G. and Rose Dominguez. He attended Hudson Valley Community College and Western New England College in Springfield, Mass., where he received a master's degree in mechanical engineering. He lived in Ellington, Conn., for 17 years before moving to Tolland.
He was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and Northeast Utilities, and was most recently vice president of engineering at O.S. Walker in Worcester, Mass.
He was a Motorcycle Safety Foundation instructor for more than 20 years, and was an ATV instructor for the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Sandra Smitka Dominguez; his mother, Rose Dominguez; a son, Benjamin; a daughter, Sarah; a sister, Dolores Carriola of Amsterdam; several nieces, a nephew, and cousins.
The funeral is 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road, Tolland, Conn., followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Matthew's Church.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.

Theresa Sanchez
November 5, 1999
Theresa Sanchez, 97, of Schenectady, died Friday at the Glendale Nursing Home in Schenectady.
She was born in Italy, the daughter of Peter and Rose Tabbano Niglio. She lived in the area most of her life.
She worked in the restaurant at Barney's Department Store in Schenectady. She also worked at the Sanford Rug Mill in Amsterdam and the General Electric Co. in Schenectady.
Her first husband, David Catanzaro, died in 1946. Her second husband, Louis Sanchez, died in 1973.
Survivors include two daughters, Caroline DeOrazio of Schenectady and Mildred Slavis of Lauderhill, Fla.; two stepsons, Anthony and Michael Sanchez, both of California; two stepdaughters, Rosemary Mangino and Louise Law, both of Schenectady; 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Rose Prior, in 1985.
The funeral is 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, followed at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. John Rosson officiating.
Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Amsterdam.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today and beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Schenectady or St. John the Baptist Church.

Margaret Izzo
November 15, 1999
Margaret A. Izzo, 88, formerly of McClellan Avenue, Amsterdam, died Monday evening at Mount Loretto Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past six years.
She was born March 24, 1911, in Nelliston, the daughter of Thomas and Mary White O'Brien. She was educated in Canajoharie and at St. Mary's Institute.
She was employed by the former Holzheimer & Shaul as office manager, and was the proprietor of Izzo's News until retiring in 1978.
Mrs. Izzo was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of its Rosary Society, St. Mary's Seniors, St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, and Amsterdam Business and Professional Women's Association.
She married Gabriel Izzo March 23, 1934. He died in 1975.
Survivors include three daughters, Delores Callahan of Hudson, Mass., Margaret Izzo of Lancaster, Mass., and Kathleen Lysogorski of New Bern, N.C.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
The funeral is 9:15 a.m. Friday at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., Amsterdam, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 156 E. Main St.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Loretto Nursing Home, Swart Hill Road, Amsterdam 12010.

Joan Holt
November 15, 1999
Joan E. Holt, 69, of Stevers Mills Road, Broadalbin, died Monday evening at home.
She was born March 12, 1930, in Broadalbin, the daughter of Smith and Gertrude Hickok Sawyer. She was a 1947 graduate of Broadalbin High School and was a lifelong Broadalbin resident.
She was employed by the Broadalbin school district, beginning as a bus driver and then later as a dietitian for the district, retiring in 1992 after more than 25 years of service.
Mrs. Holt was a member of the Broadalbin United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, the 40 et 8 Le Femme, all in Broadalbin, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include four daughters, Pamala J. Gasner of Broadalbin, Patrice J. Norwood of Lenoir, N.C., Polly A. Putorti of Seymour, Conn., and Paula J. Holt of Waterbury, Conn.; a brother, Richard Sawyer of Johnstown; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at the Broadalbin United Methodist Church, 67 N. Main St., with the Rev. Patricia A. Bush officiating.
Burial will be in Union Mills Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 38 W. Main St., Broadalbin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kennyetto Volunteer Fire Department, Broadalbin United Methodist Church, or Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
