Jane Ann Blackmon, 72, of Johnstown, died Tuesday at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home after a long illness.
Born in Gloversville, she was a graduate of Gloversville High School. She attended Syracuse Nursing School and was a graduate of the Vallejo Junior College of Vallejo, Calif.
She was a clerk at the Johnstown Public Library from 1960 to 1969.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Aldine Society.
She married S.A. "Sam" Blackmon April 30, 1948.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, John H. Blackmon of Hillsboro, Ore., Richard P. Blackmon of Minneapolis, Minn., and Thomas C. Blackmon of Gloversville; a brother, Clark Easterly Sr. of Johnstown; and three grandchildren.
The service funeral is 11 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, South Market Street., Johnstown.
Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville, in the spring.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Ehle Funeral Home, 15 N. William St., Johnstown.

Leo Biltucci
December 29, 1999
Leo "Bill" A. Biltucci, 80, of Owosso, Mich., died Dec. 29 at home.
He was born April 1, 1919, in Canajoharie, the son of Albert and Concetti Ferrusi Biltucci. He attended local schools.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, 3rd Tank Division, under Gen. George S. Patton.
He retired from Interstate Truck Lines, where he was a driver.
Mr. Biltucci was a communicant of Sts. Peter and Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Canajoharie.
He was also an avid bowler and helped organize the Wednesday night mixed league at the Owosso Capitol Bowl, and also bowled at the Riverbend Bowl in Corunna, Mich.
He married Margaret Schultz April 24, 1947, in Owosso.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Susan Hunt of Westfield, Ind.; four brothers, Albert Biltucci of Canajoharie, Gene Biltucci of Fairport, Donald Biltucci of Coconut, Fla., and Rudy Biltucci of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Sally Schrader of Canajoharie and Louise Cirillo of Sebastian, Fla.; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral was Jan. 1 at the Nelson-House Funeral Homes in Owosso, Mich.
Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Owosso.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Sts. Peter and Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Canajoharie.
Local arrangements were by the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie.
Emmett Aucompaugh
January 11, 2000
Emmett Aucompaugh, 91, a resident of the Mount Loretto Nursing Home, Amsterdam, formerly of MacDougall Road, Pattersonville, died Tuesday evening at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 19, 1908, in Pattersonville, the son of William and Lena Jane Smith Aucompaugh. He was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Aucompaugh owned and operated his own farm, now known as Aucompaugh Acres Inc. in Pattersonville.
He was a former member of the Scotch Church Grange, Dairy Lee Co-op, Agway Co-op and the Bible Memory Association.
Mr. Aucompaugh was founder and member of the Family Bible Church in the town of Florida.
He married Irene Dougall in 1938. She died in 1974. He then married Betty Holliday in 1978.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Kenneth Aucompaugh of Pattersonville; two daughters, Patricia Isabella of Saranac Lake and Janet Aucompaugh of Waynesboro, Va.; a step-son, Alfred McKinlay of Pattersonville; a step-daughter, Agnes VanPatten of Waynesboro, Va.; a sister, Beatrice Lyman of Glen Carbon, Ill.; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a son, E. William Aucompaugh.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Jerry Gifford and the Rev. Ray Lydick officiating.
Interment will be in Van Vechten Cemetery, Pattersonville, in the spring.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Bible Church.
Alice Blake
January 15, 2000
Alice Jean Burke, 67, of Hudson Falls, died on Saturday at her home.
Born in Gloversville on June 25, 1932, she was the daughter of Roman and Sophie Rebisz Prokop.
Mrs. Blake was employed by the Casual Corner Group.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Blake, whom she married on July 16, 1955. He died in 1978.
Survivors include a son, William Blake of Tampa, Fla.; three daughters, Elizabeth Tomasovic of Rowlett, Texas, Barbara Blake of Roswell, Ga. and Brenda Irons of Wilton; two brothers, George and Edward Prokop, both of Broadalbin; two sisters, Marylou Blen of Amsterdam and Joan Frament of Galway; five grandchildren; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the St Mary's/St. Paul's Church, Hudson Falls, with the Rev. Barry Lonergan officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow the Funeral Mass at the Blake home at 9 School St., Hudson Falls. The Rite of Committal, in the spring, will be in Union Cemetery, Fort Edward.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 380A Glen St., Glens Falls, 12801 or to the Washington County Hospice, 1 Myrtle Ave., Cambridge, 12816.
John Nowakowski
January 15, 2000
John A. Nowakowski, 76, of Grand Street, Amsterdam, died Saturday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam on June 29, 1923, he was the son of Anthony and Anna Felinski Nowakowski. He was a 1942 graduate of Lynch High School and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Nowakowski was employed by Polyply, Inc., Amsterdam, for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a participant in the Battle of the Bulge.
He married the former Theresa Michalski on May 11, 1947.
Besides his wife, survivors include a daughter, Janet Nowakowski of Amsterdam; three sons, Dennis Nowakowski and John Novak, both of Amsterdam and William Novak of Rochester; five grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Guzielek-Pomykaj Funeral Home, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Church. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church or to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
Anna Mosher
January 14, 2000
Anna M. Mosher, 89, formerly of 23 E. Main St., St. Johnsville, died Friday at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home.
Born in Little Falls on Sept. 27, 1910, she was the daughter of Paul and Mary Kurdenski. She was educated in Little Falls schools and lived in the St. Johnsville area for many years.
Mrs. Mosher was employed for many years at the Indian Castle Restaurant. She was of the Roman Catholic faith.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Mosher, whom she married on Dec. 28, 1929 and by a son, David Mosher.
Survivors include a daughter, Louella Kazlauskas of St. Johnsville; a brother, Steven Kurdenski of Herkimer; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville with Sister Dolores Stevens officiating. Burial will take place in St. Johnsville Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Gordon La Grange
January 14, 2000
Gordon La Grange, 82, of Johnstown, died Friday at home after a short illness.
Born in Johnstown on Oct. 12, 1917, he was the son of William and Minnie Rhode La Grange. He attended local schools.
Mr. La Grange was self-employed. He was a charter member of the Sit William Johnson Vol. Fire Dept. and served on its board of directors. He was a former member of the board of directors for the Fulton County Soil Conservation and Agway.
He married the former Margaret Scott on June 24, 1939.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Christopher Savage, in 1993.
Besides his wife, survivors include a daughter, Margaret Scott La Grange of Johnstown; a son, Mark La Grange of Fonda; a sister, Virginia Coppernoll of Ephratah; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Waunetta Stiles
January 17, 2000
Waunetta Becker Stiles, 101, of Folts Home, Herkimer, died early Monday at Folts Home after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 7, 1898, in East Worchester, the daughter of William and Ella Jennings Becker. She was educated at the former Lawyersville School. She lived in Springfield Center and Starkville before moving to Folts Home in 1980.
Mrs. Stiles was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm.
She was the oldest living member of Starkville United Methodist Church.
She married Clifford Stiles Sept. 7, 1914, in Cherry Valley. He died Aug. 28, 1975.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Florence Hamblin, Nov. 8 ,1993; a son, Everett E. Stiles, Jan. 29, 1999; and a granddaughter, Tracey Ann Young, June 21, 1969.
Survivors include two daughters, Clarissa R. Young of Fort Plain and Margaret Suhocki of Richfield Springs; a son, Floyd C. Stiles of Denver; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Starkville United Methodist Church, Route 80, Fort Plain, with the Rev. David Ortel, chaplain at Folts Home, and the Rev. Joseph Timlin, pastor of Starkville United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Springfield Center Cemetery in the spring.
A calling hour will begin at 10 a.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Starkville United Methodist Church, 443 Hoke Road, Fort Plain 13339.
Arrangements are by the Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home Inc., 34 Center St., Fort Plain.
Donald Pierce
December 30, 1999
Donald M. Pierce, 91, of Sarasota, Fla., died Dec. 30.
He was born on Jan. 1, 1908, in the town of Glen, the son of M. Charles and Clara Smith Pierce. He graduated from Fonda High School with honors and from Michigan University with a degree in civil engineering and health.
He became chief engineer with the state of Michigan for 38 years, retiring to Sarasota.
Survivors include his wife, Monabelle; two brothers, Delbert S. Pierce of Fonda and C. Burton Pierce of Long Island; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at Bay Village Auditorium in Sarasota, Fla.
Gertrude Pacillo
January 17, 2000
Gertrude Pacillo, 83, of Kline Street, Amsterdam, died Monday evening at St. Mary's Hospital.
She was born in Bakersfield, N.C., Oct. 9, 1916, the daughter of Trotta and Phoebe McKinney Johnson. She was educated there and moved to this area in 1948.
She was employed by Coleco Industries before retiring in 1981.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Amsterdam.
She married Dominick E. Pacillo Sr. April 28, 1948.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Dominick E. Pacillo Jr. of Fort Johnson; two daughters, Jacqueline MacDougall of Amsterdam and Elizabeth Pacillo of Albany; a brother, Arthur Johnson of Stockton, Calif.; four sisters, Naomi Webb of Bakersfield, N.C., Ruby Gardner of Elizabethtown, Tenn., Lucille Green of Shelby, N.C., and Bessaline Johnson of Westminster, Md.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Thomas Mithen officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Calling hours 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
