Carol Bever, 48, of Clifton Park, died early this morning at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.
Arrangements by the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, are incomplete and will be announced.
Ena Vadakin
February 9, 2000
Ena Nicos Vadakin, 91 of 541 Union St., Northville, died Wednesday at home after a long illness.
She was born Dec. 14, 1908, in Wilton, the daughter of Harvey W. and Maybell Deyoe Ellithorpe.
She retired from New York Telephone Co. 37 years of service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and was a past president of the Troy Life Member Club. In 1953, she helped organize the Capital District Telephone Company Employees Credit Union.
Upon her retirement, she and her husband, Chester A. Vadakin, who died April 15, 1972, settled in Batchelerville.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Northville. She was vice president of the Gleaners. She was financial secretary for several years and held other offices in the church and the United Methodist Women's organization.
She was active in the Fulton County Sacandaga Grange, serving as membership chairwoman and stewardess. She was also a member of the New York State Pomona Grange. She was the first person in Fulton County to receive a membership award from the Centennial Club of the New York State Grange.
She was a member of the Republican National Committee and served as a member of the United States Task Force. She was a member of the Saratoga County Republican Club and served as an executive committee member for 21 years in the town of Edinburg. She also served on the Saratoga County Office of the Aging Advisory Council for seven years.
For four years, she was matron in the Juanita Chapter of the Eastern Star and also served as chaplin for many years. She was a member of the Saratoga County District of the DAR and served as regent for six years and treasurer for six years; she was a member of the Past Regents Society. She was also a member of the White Shrine, the Order of the Amaranth Court 197, Amsterdam, the Edinburg and Wilton historical societies, the Dabbers' Craft Class of Gloversville, and the Sacandaga Senior Citizens. She was a past member of the Sacandaga Garden Club. For many years, she was a crafts instructor for the Lansingburg Boys Club.
She was active in the American Cancer Society of Saratoga County and was presented with several awards.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St., Northville.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Idola LaBree
February 15, 2000
Idola L. LaBree, 95, of Pine Lane, Northville, died Tuesday at home after a short illness.
She was born and educated in Lewiston, Maine.
Mrs. LaBree worked in New York City for many years and lived in Northville since 1966.
She married Thomas LaBree Sept. 7, 1942. He died in 1974.
Survivors include a niece, Connie Cleary of Trumbull, Conn.
The funeral is 8 p.m. today at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St., Northville.
Burial will be in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.
A calling hour will begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville.
Myrtle DelliVeneri
February 16, 2000
Myrtle Corrine DelliVeneri, 59, of Nashville, Tenn., died Wednesday at home after a long illness.
She was born Dec. 14, 1940, in Los Angeles, the daughter of Charles and Myrtle Catherine Stewart Crist. She was educated in Los Angeles.
Mrs. DelliVeneri was a homemaker.
Her husband, Thomas P. DelliVeneri, died Sept. 20, 1999.
Survivors include four sons, Thomas P. DelliVeneri Jr. of Perth, Sean DelliVeneri of Pompano, Fla., and Lawrence and Darren DelliVeneri, both of Amsterdam; nine daughters, Theresa A. Vandermark and Ann Marie Masters, both of Perth, Mary Ellen Francisco of Broadalbin, Diane Flores and Lisa DelliVeneri, both of Amsterdam, Kathy Oscaniec of Memphis, Tenn., Christine Bowers and Tina Pucket, both of Nashville, Tenn., and Corrine McGuigan of Canajoharie; two brothers, Robert Crist of Mission Veijo, Calif., and Stewart Crist of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Loretta Crist of Morongo Valley, Calif.; 29 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., Amsterdam, followed at 10:15 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 156 E. Main St., Amsterdam.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.

Kathleen Pedrick
February 15, 2000
Kathleen Pedrick, 84, of Gloversville, died Tuesday at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home.
She was born in Wells, was a lifelong area resident and attended Glovers-ville schools.
Mrs. Pedrick worked at the former Harding & Harris Fur Shop, the former Topps Lambskin Co. in Johnstown, and the St. Thomas Co. for 20 years before retiring.
Mrs. Pedrick was a member of Fremont Street United Methodist Church.
She married Kenneth Pedrick July 14, 1934. He died in 1990.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth W. Pedrick of Gloversville; a daughter, Carol Ann Pedrick of Gloversville; a brother, Edward Craig of Atlanta; a sister, Wilhelmina Perrone of Gloversville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville.
Burial will be in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
Nancy Tobler
February 15, 2000
Nancy S. Tobler, 63, of Momrow Road, Sand Lake, died Tuesday at Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood, Calif., after being stricken while on vacation.
She was born in Syracuse and lived in Sand Lake for the past 35 years. She received a master's degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania and a master's and doctorate in social work from the State University of New York at Albany. She previously lived in Syracuse and taught school there.
She was a chemistry, physics and mathematics teacher in Averill Park schools during the 1960s.
She was president and principle investigator of Tobler Research Association. During her career, Mrs. Tobler conducted research for various organizations, including the National Institute on Drug Abuse, Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, and New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.
She was a member of the Covenant United Methodist Church in Averill Park.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Tobler; a daughter, Lisa J. Tobler of Nelliston; a son, Matthew A. Tobler of Fort Collins, Colo.; a stepson, David P. Tobler of Rhode Island; a stepdaughter, Deborah A. Morse of Massachusetts; a brother, David W. Kittlaus of Skaneateles; her mother, Thelma Gildemeyer Kittlaus of Cohoes; and four step-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Covenant United Methodist, Averill Park.
Arrangements are by Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, Averill Park.
Mary MacElroy

Mary MacElroy, 90, of 7 Timmerman Ave., St. Johnsville, died Monday at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home.
She was born March 14, 1909, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Charles and Martha MacRay MacElroy. She was educated in Brooklyn and lived in the St. Johnsville area for the past 10 years.
Funeral arrangements, under the direction of the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, are private and at the convenience of the family.
The Rev. Orville Hine
February 15, 2000
The Rev. Orville Jay Hine Sr., 83, of the Town of Sanford, died Tuesday at the Susquehanna Nursing Home in Johnson City following a long illness.
He was born Feb. 11, 1917, in Chicago, the son of Richard and Jennie Smith Hine. He received a bachelor's degree from Hope College, a master's degree from Boston University and his master's of divinity from New Brunswick Theological Seminary.
The Rev. Hine was ordained in June 1943.
He served the Charleston Reformed Church in Staten Island; First Reformed Church of New Brunswick, N.J.; Warwick Reformed Church of Warwick; Union Church, Balboa, Panama Canal Zone; Reformed Church of Saugerties; Reformed Church of New Paltz; and the Broad Avenue North Presbyterian Church in Binghamton.
He was a board member and president of the former Board of World Missions, Reformed Church of America. He also operated Hine's Pines, a Christmas tree farm.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Jeanette Douma, whom he married Sept. 15, 1941. He was also predeceased by a son, Franklin Hine.
He married Gladys E. Gustafson Sept. 1, 1979.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Orville Jay Hine Jr. of Fonda; two daughters, Janet Ann Widell of Auburn, Ala., and Cheryl Sue Hine of Trumansburg; three stepchildren, Terry Paul Gustafson of Warwick, Jean E. Rosenberg of New York City, and Craig A. Gustafson of Sudbury, Mass.; two brothers, Richard Hine and Glen Hine; a sister, Evelyn Sutch; four grandchildren; and four step grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Broad Avenue North Presbyterian Church, Binghamton, with the Rev. Dr. Stephen W. Starzer officiating.
Interment, following cremation, will be at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours will precede the service at the church.

Zigmund Powajbo
February 15, 2000
Zigmund "Ziggy" C. Powajbo, 82, died Tuesday in New Orleans.
He was born in Amsterdam and was a graduate of St. Stanislaus School.
He was a member of the Army Air Corps in Biloxi, Miss., during World War II.
He was a sporting goods salesman for Sutcliffe Sporting Goods of Louisville, Ky. In, 1967 he joined Stratton-Baldwin Co. in New Orleans as a sporting goods buyer. He continued his career with Folsom Louisiana Inc. and retired in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Erena B. Powajbo; three daughters, Constance E. Maurer, Linda E. Bosco and Robbe K. Stillman; two sons, John Z. Powajbo and Richard A. Powajbo; and five grandchildren.
A funeral mass is scheduled at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John's Church in Biloxi, Miss.
Interment will be in Biloxi Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Ave., Biloxi, Miss.
John Costello
February 16, 2000
John M. Costello Jr, 79, of 111 Osborne Road, Sacandaga Park, Northville, died Wednesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a short illness.
He was born Dec. 29, 1920 in Utica, a son of Francis and Josephine Higgs Costello. He moved to Sacandaga Park from Piscataway, N.J. last year.
Mr. Costello served in the Air Force in World War II.
He was first employed at Remington Arms in Utica. After the war he was an electronics engineer at WENT Radio Station in Gloversville. IN 1950 he worked for Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, Calif. and was transferred to Edison, N.J. in 1960, retiring in 1986. He then worked at Victory Engineering in Springfield, N.J. until he finally retired again in 1993.
Mr. Costello was a member of St. Francis of Cabrini Church, the VFW Post and the Senior Citizens Center, all of Piscataway, N.J.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Allen Costello of Gloversville; a daughter, Janice E. Allen Costello of Northville; a brother, Francis "Bud" Costello of New Hartford, Conn.; three sisters, Patricia Costello of Utica, Rosemary Charbonnaue of Florida and Maryanne Fitzgerald of Canandaigua; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sons, John M. Costello Jr. in 1986 and James E. Costello in 1989.
A prayer service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville.
A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating.
Spring interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Walter Smith
February 16, 2000
Walter J. Smith, 83, of Lassellsville, died Wednesday at Little Falls Hospital after being stricken at home.
He was born Nov. 30, 1916 in the Town of Ephratah, the son of Alpha and Bertha Spencer Smith.
Mr. Smith attended Scotch Bush Free Methodist Church, a member of the Western Fulton County Senior Citizens and a charter member of the Rockwood-Caroga-Lassellsville Volunteer Fire Department.
He was the Ephratah town councilman from 1950 to 1965.
Mr. Smith was a self-employed farmer and was employed for 35 years as a bus driver for Oppenheim-Ephratah schools, retiring in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, the former Helen A. Cretser whom he married May 11, 1941; two sons, Ken Smith and Stan Smith, both of Lassellsville; two brothers, Robert Smith of St. Johnsville and Thomas Smith of Rockwood; two sisters, Lena Christman of Lassellsville and Helen Alysworth of Hamilton, Madison County; four grandchildren; several foster grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Scotch Bush Free Methodist Church, Church Road, Scotch Bush with the Rev. R. W. Williams officiating.
Spring burial will take place in Fical Cemetery, Lassellsville.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.
Memorial contributions may be made to Scotch Bush Free Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
