Wanda Clara Kowalski Jablonski, 77, of State Route 30, town of Florida, died Friday evening at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after being stricken at home.
She was born May 22, 1922, in the town of Florida, the daughter of Marian and Mary Jankowska Kowalski. She was educated locally and a lifelong resident of the town.
She was employed by the General Electric Co. in Schenectady for several years. She was also a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and a former member of AMVETS Auxiliary of Fort Hunter.
She married Alexander Jablonski Jan. 27, 1946.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Dennis Jablonski of Las Vegas, Nev., and David Jablonski of Amsterdam; a daughter, Denise Quist of Minaville; two brothers, Henry and Boleslaw Kowalski, both of Minaville; two sisters, Regina Lomnicki and Isabelle Sasowski, both of Minaville; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Church.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Marie Shults
February 18, 2000
Marie J. Shults, 91, of Fredericks Street, Canajoharie, died Friday evening at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 24, 1908, in Delaware, Mich., the daughter of William and Nellie Cleland Pomella. She attended local schools. She returned to the Canajoharie area about nine years ago after living in Florida since 1961.
Mrs. Shults was employed by the Beech-Nut Packing Co. in Canajoharie and at the Palatine Post Office. She and her husband managed condominiums in Daytona Beach and Naples, Fla.
She was a former member of the Stone Arabia Reformed Church.
She was an avid bowler, belonging to leagues in Orlando, Fla., and in Canajoharie.
She married Harold Shults Oct. 23, 1933. He died March 20, 1986.
Survivors include a sister, Eleanor Brundage of Canajoharie; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home Inc., 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie, with the Rev. Robert C. Dievendorf, pastor of Grace Congregational Church, St. Johnsville, officiating.
Burial will be in Fort Plain in the spring.
Calling hours begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Edward Bronk
February 19, 2000
Edward Bronk, 87, formerly of Maple Avenue, Canajoharie, and most recently a resident of the Palatine Nursing Home, Palatine Bridge, died Saturday morning at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after a long illness.
He was born Feb. 17, 1913, in the town of Danube, the son of Edward and Mabel Bronk. He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was employed by the Beech-Nut Nutrition Corp. for 46 years, retiring as supervisor in the shipping department.
He was a member of the American Legion in Canajoharie and the Elks Lodge in Johnstown.
His first wife, Carmetta Gardinier, died in 1965. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Sue Herron.
He married Clara Bell April 7, 1967.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Edward V. and Howard Bronk, both of Atlanta; two stepsons, Gerald and William Shaul, both of Canajoharie; a stepdaughter, Lorraine Shaul of Canajoharie; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie.
Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery in the spring.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

L. Ilene Bixby
February 18, 2000
L. Ilene Bixby, 64, of First Avenue, Broadalbin, died Friday at home after a long illness.
She was born in Amsterdam and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School.
She was a licensed hairdresser, working in Scotia and Schenectady, and retired from GTE in Florida after many years of service.
She was a member of the Lady Elks in Hudson, Fla.
Survivors include her mother, Josephine Burke of Broadalbin; two daughters, Kathleen Bixby and Susan Webster, both of Broadalbin; a sister, Ruth Eisenacher of Mesa, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.
There is no funeral service or calling hours.
Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
Arrangements are by the Richard J. Ryan Funeral Home, Galway.
Ethan Boice
February 19, 2000
Ethan Daniel Boice, 12, of Ballston Spa, died Saturday after a long illness.
He was born Oct. 1, 1987, in Glens Falls, the son of Daniel Boice and Chantel Rossi. He lived in Ballston Spa and North River, and was a fifth-grade student at Wood Road Elementary School, Ballston Spa.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his maternal grandparents, Sam and Sharon Madej of Amsterdam, and his paternal grandfather, Edward Boice of Amsterdam.
The funeral is 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 25 Hyde Blvd., Ballston Spa.
Calling hours begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National MPS Society Inc., 1102 Aspen Drive, Dowingtown, Pa. 19335; or the Ethan Boice Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Marshall A. Leggiero Sr., 83, of John Street, Amsterdam, died unexpectedly Saturday at home.

Cecelia Bara
February 27, 2000
Cecelia Furman Bara, 87, of Grand Street, Amsterdam, died Sunday afternoon at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after being stricken at home.
She was born June 18, 1912, in Amsterdam, the daughter of Albert and Katherine Dybas Furman. She was a graduate of St. Stanislaus School and was a lifelong city resident.
Mrs. Bara was a burler by the former Mohasco Industries for 42 years, and later worked for Coleco Industries before retiring.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and St. Stanislaus Seniors.
She married Michael Bara Nov. 9, 1983.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Catherine DeVoe of Amsterdam; a sister, Katherine Skrzynecki of Amsterdam; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Church.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Doris Haff
February 26, 2000
Doris L. Haff, 63, of Dublin, Ga., died Saturday in a hospital there.
She was the daughter of Bartlett and Blanche Plank of Fort Plain and was a native of St. Johnsville. She lived in Dublin for the past 34 years.
Mrs. Haff was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dublin and Women of the Moose Chapter 121.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, of Fort Plain, include her husband, Robert B. Haff of Dublin, Ga.; a son, Jason Haff of Dublin, Ga.; a daughter, Denise Jump of Dublin, Ga.; three sisters, Shirley Wittmann of Albany, Kathy Meehan of Scotia, and Marshia Seeley of Fort Plain; and four grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Dublin, Ga., with the revs. C. Dick Reese and Jack Key officiating.
Burial will be in Northview Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Townsend Brothers Funeral Home, 302 W. Gaines St., Dublin, Ga.
Rosanne Neznek
February 7, 2000
Rosanne H. Neznek, 81, of Apache Junction, Ariz., died Feb. 7 at home.
She was born May 18, 1918, in Amsterdam, the daughter of Henry and Mary Gahen Hartmann. She lived in Scotch Bush and Amsterdam and moved to the Mariaville Lake area after World War II. In 1983 she moved to Colorado and moved to Arizona in 1995.
Mrs. Neznek retired from the New York State Tax Department. She previously worked for Mariaville school as a clerk, and during the war years at the General Electric Co.
She married William A. Neznek June 6, 1943.
Survivors include two sons, David Neznek of Longmont, Colo., and Mark Neznek of Arizona; and a daughter, Diane Corrigan of Lafayette, Colo.
The funeral was in Arizona.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mariaville Volunteer Fire Department or a charity of one's choice.
Emily Loomis
February 26, 2000
Emily Barbara Loomis, 76, of Ten Eyck Apartments, Broadway, Schenectady, died Saturday at Ellis Hospital after being stricken.
She was born in Utica and attended St. Stanislaus School.
For several years, Mrs. Loomis was a private duty nurse's aide in Schenectady.
Her husband of 31 years, James E. Loomis, died in 1986.
Survivors include three daughters, Debra Hilton of Rotterdam, Barbara Palleschi of Broadalbin, and Carol Schmidt of Rome; three sons, Scott Loomis of Rotterdam, Mark Loomis of Schenectady, and Martin Fox of Syracuse; four sisters, Stella Vacca and Josephine Kulesa, both of Rome, Pauline Gubbins of Utica, and Rosalie Shaheen of Yorkville; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday at Family Funeral Care, 40 N. Brandy-wine Ave., Schenectady.
Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
A calling hour will begin at noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Earl F. Schaufelberg, 86, of Route 30S, town of Florida, died Sunday evening at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness.

Harold L. Ballou, 99, formerly of Broadalbin, died Sunday evening at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility.
