Kathleen T. Keller, 78, of Midtown Estates, St. Johnsville, died Tuesday at Little Falls Hospital.
She was born Nov. 7, 1921, in St. Johnsville, the daughter of Howard Keller and Teresa Haggerty-Hayes. She was a 1939 graduate of St. Johnsville High School and a lifelong area resident.
She owned and operated Kay's Second Hand Store in Fort Plain for 10 years, retiring in 1982. At one time she worked for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie for many years.
She was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include three cousins, Catherine May of Northville, Jeanette "Jean" Van Valkenburg of St. Johnsville, and George Haggerty of Fort Plain.
Cremation is under the direction of the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville.
A memorial service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Sister Dolores Stevens of St. Patrick's Church officiating.
Interment will be in West St. Johnsville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Anthony Iannotti
April 6, 2000
Anthony J. Iannotti, 86, formerly of Florida Avenue, Amsterdam, died Thursday at Montgomery Meadows after a long illness.
He was born Nov. 15, 1913, in Amsterdam, the son of John and Letizia Parillo Iannotti. He attended local schools and was a lifelong area resident.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a welder for Lane Construction Co. in Fultonville until his retirement in 1974.
Mr. Iannotti was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church.
He was a former member of the Bigelow Weavers Club and John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701.
He married Inez E. Cartwright July 31, 1938. She died Aug. 20, 1991. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Jean Novak, in 1998.
Survivors include three daughters, June Cyrek, Kathy Caputo and Debra Burroughs, all of Amsterdam; two brothers, Louis Iannotti and Andrew Iannotti, both of Amsterdam; a sister, Ann Langelier of Amsterdam; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 8:15 a.m. Saturday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed at 9:15 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Foundation, or a charity of one's choice.
John Gurdak
April 6, 2000
John P. Gurdak, 76, of Park Hill Adult Home, formerly of Milton Avenue, Amsterdam, died Thursday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
He was born June 19, 1923, in Amsterdam, the son of Frank and Sophie Zeglen Gurdak. He attended Amsterdam schools and was a lifelong area resident.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a plumber for the Greater Amsterdam School District until his retirement.
He was a member of the Polish National Legion and the former St. Stanislaus Sacred Heart Society.
He was a member of the church of St. John the Baptist.
He married Helen M. Rzesos June 6, 1943. She died Feb. 15, 1988.
Survivors include three daughters, Janet Hewitt and Jean Marie Homich, both of Amsterdam, and Joan Devoe of Chester; a sister, Ann Saj of Amsterdam; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. John the Baptist.
Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of St. John the Baptist.
William Brown
April 5, 2000
William C. Brown, 75, of Veterans Drive, Fort Johnson, formerly of Enfield, Conn., died Wednesday evening at home following a long illness.
He was born Sept. 13, 1924, in Astoria, the son of William and Ann Cobis Brown. He was educated in New York City.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served aboard the U.S.S. Wyffels in the mid-Atlantic.
He was a salesman for Whitehead Metal of New York City, and retired in 1984 from Chase Metals, Waterbury, Conn.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Amsterdam, and a member of its choir and Holy Name Society.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 209 and St. Mary's Hospital Club 60, both of Amsterdam; Sir William Johnson Seniors, Fort Johnson; Moose Club 1185, Johnstown; past president of Sacred Heart Parish Council, Tribes Hill; a former trustee of Holy Family Church, Enfield, Conn.; and a volunteer patient representative at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
He was the leader of the former Bill Brown and the Red Garter Band, and for 14 years, Bill Brown and The Knights singing group.
He married Mary A. Black Aug. 11, 1946.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, William J. Brown of Manchester, Conn., Joseph J. Brown and Anthony F. Brown, both of Enfield, Conn.; four daughters, Mary Miller and Kathleen Smith, both of Fort Johnson, Nancy Arduino of Albany, and Susan Eagan of Stafford, Conn.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 9:15 a.m. Monday at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., Amsterdam, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, East Main Street, Amsterdam.
Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 40 Guy Park Ave., or to St. Mary's Church Development Fund, 158 E. Main St., Amsterdam.
Anna Scheidel
April 6, 2000
Anna Scheidel, 97, of County Route 110, Broadalbin, died Thursday at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, where she had been a resident since last month.
She was born and educated in Albany. She lived most of her life there before moving to Broadalbin in 1985.
Mrs. Scheidel was a homemaker.
She was a former member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Albany.
Her husband, Otto Scheidel, died in 1968.
Survivors include a daughter, Eva Culnan of Broadalbin; a grandson; and three great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Eagle Hill Cemetery, Albany, at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Broadalbin.
Gertrude Kennedy
April 6, 2000
Gertrude Houghton Kennedy, 99, of Peck Road, Eaton Corners, died Thursday at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County in Cobleskill.
She was born March 22, 1901, in Schenectady, the daughter of Rutherford and Luella McDuffee Houghton. She lived most of her life in the Eaton Corners area.
Mrs. Kennedy and her husband operated a dairy farm until his death.
She was a member of the Duanesburg Florida Baptist Church, the Schoharie Senior Citizens, and the Central Bridge Senior Citizens.
Her husband, Leo Kennedy, died July 11, 1972.
Survivors include four daughters, Kathleen Kendle of Mariaville, Verna Tenney of Tribes Hill, Rachael Rapp of South Berne, and Clydette Koslik of Eaton Corners; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 3 p.m. Saturday at the White-Van Buren Funeral Home, 1779 Main St., Delanson.
Interment will be in Esperance Cemetery at a later date.
Calling hours are 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Florence Clairmont
April 11, 2000
Florence E. Clairmont, 91, formerly of Oak Street, Fort Johnson, and Roosevelt Apartments, Amsterdam, and most recently a resident of Mount Loretto Nursing Home, Amsterdam, died this morning at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
She was born Oct. 23, 1908, in Amsterdam, the daughter of Lyle and Lillian Waite Burtt. She was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of Amsterdam schools, including the Amsterdam School of Commerce.
Mrs. Clairmont worked for the Montgomery County Clerk's Office for a short time. She was also a homemaker.
She was a communicant of United Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam.
She married Henry J. Clairmont Aug. 27, 1929. He died in 1972.
Survivors include three sons, David H. Clairmont of Amsterdam, Paul J. Clairmont of Schenectady, and Eric R. Clairmont of Fayetteville, N.C.; a daughter, Bettina Schmaeh of Tribes Hill; two sisters, Marion Vanduesen of Amsterdam and Catherine Golding of Albany; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Dan Wheeler officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Aucompaugh
April 9, 2000
Elizabeth "Betty" H. Aucompaugh, 81, of MacDougall Road, Pattersonville, died Sunday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 29, 1918, in Granville, Ill., the daughter of Mary and Thomas Holliday. She moved to Pattersonville in 1978 where since lived. She was educated in LaSalle, Ill., and attended Bible Training School in Chicago.
She worked at the Children's Home in Everett, Wash., for six years and served as a missionary for the BCM Ministries International for 20 years in Syracuse.
She was a member of Family Bible Church, town of Florida.
She married Emmett Aucompaugh April 22, 1978. He died Jan. 11, 2000. She was also predeceased by a step-son, E. William Aucompaugh, Aug. 2, 1999.
Survivors include two step-sons, Alfred McKinlay and Kenneth Aucompaugh, both of Pattersonville; three step-daughters, Agnes Van Patten and Janet Aucompaugh, both of Waynesboro, Va., and Patricia Isabella of Saranac Lake; two sisters, Mary Grisolano of Burlington, Iowa, and Barbara Russell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 21 step-grandchildren; 27 step-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.
Burial will be in VanVechten Cemetery, Pattersonville.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Delbert Christman
April 8, 2000
Delbert A. Christman, 75, of Third Avenue, Gloversville, died Saturday at Nathan Littauer Hospital suddenly.
He was born Jan. 19, 1925, in the town of Charleston, the son of Henry J. and Marcia Vosburgh Christman. He was educated in Fonda and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Christman was a general laborer in construction in the area.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include a son, Joseph A. Christman of Gloversville; three sisters, Evelyn H. Mahr of Canajoharie, Alice Tracey of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Irene Austin of Fort Plain; two brothers, Charles Christman of Amsterdam and Harrison Christman of Johnstown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home Inc., 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie, with Minister Jacob Crewell of Jehovah Witnesses Kingdom Hall.
Burial is in Christian Church Cemetery, Charleston Four Corners, at a later date.
A calling hour begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
