Harold Johnson
April 27, 2000
Harold W. "Wink" Johnson, 83, of Hewitt Street, Amsterdam, died Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam after being stricken at home.
He was born April 14, 1917, in Fort Johnson, the son of Arthur and Anna Wohlgemuth Johnson, and was educated locally.
He was a machine operator for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady for 30 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the union and the GE Quarter Century Club.
During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army and was present at the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Johnson was a member of John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701 and also a member of the United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Harold "Bill" Johnson of Birmingham, Ala., and Donald E. Johnson of Amsterdam; a daughter, Carole L. Johnson of Amsterdam; his companion, Jeanne Sutch; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Dan J. Wheeler officiating.
Interment is in Greenhill Cemetery at a later date.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, during which members of American Legion Post 701 will conduct a service at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Northeastern Association for the Blind.

Catherine Strauss
May 4, 2000
Catherine P. Strauss, 99, of Kingsboro Avenue, Gloversville, died Thursday at home after a long illness.
She was born in Granby, Conn., and moved from Richmond, Va., to Gloversville in 1992.
She was a high school graduate and attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. She was also a homemaker.
Mrs. Strauss was a former grand officer of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was a member of Trinity Anglican Episcopal Church.
She married Norman F. Strauss Dec. 12, 1927. He died in 1985.
Survivors include two sons, J. Frank Strauss of Westford, Mass., and Bishop Norman F. Strauss of Gloversville; a sister, Meredith S. Ragan of Richmond; a foster son, the Rev. Edward Budnick of Gloversville; and five grandchildren.
Private services will be scheduled.
Burial is in Glove Cemetery, Sussex, N.J., Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Anglican Episcopal Church, 14 Grand St., Gloversville 12078.
Arrangements are by the Finocan Funeral Home, 13 Prospect Ave., Gloversville.

Milton Seeger
May 3, 2000
Milton Paul Seeger, 89, of Warrenton, Va., died Wednesday at home.
He was born in Carlstadt, N.J.
He was a minister at the the Mayfield Presbyterian, West Galway Presbyterian and Northville Presbyterian churches. He was also assistant pastor at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in West Palm Beach, Fla., retiring in 1991.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Hanora Lineburg.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Beryl Flanger of Warrenton, Va.; a sister, Ethel M. Szot of Lompoc, Calif.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church.
Burial is in Mayfield Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St., Northville.

Claire Garrison
May 2, 2000
Claire Macklin Garrison, 85, of Locust Park, Colonie, died Tuesday at Eden Park Nursing Home in Albany.
She was born in Hoboken, N.J. She lived in Schenectady before moving to Colonie 47 years ago.
She was a saleswoman for Sears. She was also a homemaker.
Mrs. Garrison was a member of Colonie Senior Citizens, a member and past sergeant at arms of the Colonie Village Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and participated in the Little League and Babe Ruth.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, William G. Garrison; a daughter, Elaine Garrison Webb of Loudonville; a son, William A. Garrison of Rochester; a brother, Arthur J. Macklin of Broadalbin; and a grandson.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 1200 Central Ave., Colonie.
Burial is in Memory's Garden.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Town of Colonie Emergency Services, Memorial Town Hall, Box 506, Loudonville 12128; American Heart Association; Colonie Village Fire Department, Central Ave., Colonie 12205; or a charity of one's choice.

Martha Dildilian
May 2, 2000
Martha Howard Sisson Dildilian, 91, of Hyde Park, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Rachel, with whom she lived for nine years.
She was born Nov. 8, 1908, in Machias, Maine, the daughter of the Rev. Howard and Lydia Susan Staples Sisson. She received a bachelor's degree from Simmons College, a master's in psychology and guidance from Springfield College, and a master's in education from Columbia University.
She was a school psychologist for the Fonda-Fultonville and Johnstown school districts. She was an AKC fox terrier dog breeder for several champion dogs. She was also a genealogist with several books published and compiled a bibliography of Lafadio Hearn, which is in the Library of Congress.
Mrs. Dildilian was a member of the Mayflower Descendants, the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants, Daughters of the American Revolution, Simmons College Alumni Association, Springfield College Alumni Association, lifetime member of New England, AARP of Hyde Park, and the New York State Retired Teachers Association. She was also a Girl Scout leader and trainer, and former president of the League of Women Voters in Connecticut and a member of the Maine Historical Society.
She married Ara Tsolag Dildilian July 7, 1932. He died Aug. 22, 1986.
Survivors include a son, Tsolag Ara Dildilian of Graham, Texas; three daughters, Miriam Sue Dildilian Hinnant of HoHoKus, N.J., Ruth Melinna Dildilian Traa of Somers Point, N.J., and Rachel Carol Dildilian of Hyde Park; a brother, James Sisson of Braintree, Mass.; a sister, Mary Sisson Ireland of Wollaston, Mass.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday at Sweet's Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park.
Interment of ashes will be in Suffield, Conn., at the convenience of the family.

Stanley Tokarowski
April 20, 2000
Stanley E. Tokarowski, 78, of Chester, Pa., died April 20 at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center.
He was born in Amsterdam, the son of Joseph and Mary Silka Tokarowski.
He was a welder for Chalbers Kubck in Aston. He previously worked for Baldwin Locomotive in Eddystone for 10 years.
Mr. Tokarowski was a member of St. Hedwig's Church and the church choir.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the Mission Bay from 1944 to 1946.
He was a member of the Szymanski-Rywacki Post 546 of Chester.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mildred "Honey" Domzalska Tokarowski; a daughter, Nancy Tokarowski; a brother, John Tokarowski of Hagaman; three sisters, Helen Kris of Amsterdam, Millie Januszewski of Hagaman, and Monica Decker of Rotterdam.
Burial was in Lawn Croft Cemetery in Linwood, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Polish-American Heritage Association of Delaware County, St. Hedwig Society, P.O. Box 1164, Brookhaven, Pa. 19015.
Arrangements were by the Kaniefski-Kendus-D'Anjolell Memorial Home, 9900 W. Ninth St., Trainer, Pa.

Anthony Ferlazzo
May 3, 2000
Anthony J. Ferlazzo Sr., 73, of Glenville, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon at Ellis Hospital after being stricken at home.
He was born Dec. 12, 1926, in Amsterdam, the son of Gaetano and Jenny Liccardo Ferlazzo. He was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Mr. Ferlazzo lived in Glenville for the past 18 years, moving from Rotterdam Junction.
He was a truck driver for Mohawk Carage in Albany and for Pilot Freight Carrier in Albany for 35 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Company E, 1st Infantry regiment, Philippines and Korea.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 294 of Albany and at one time served as shop steward for a number of years.
Mr. Ferlazzo was a communicant of St. Margaret of Cortona Roman Catholic Church in Rotterdam Junction.
He was a foster parent for the past 25 years.
He married Marion Smith June 19, 1949.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Anthony J. Ferlazzo Jr. of Stillwater and Gaetano C. Ferlazzo of Amsterdam; two daughters, Johann C. Miller of Milton and Pamela A. Viedt of Burnt Hills; two brothers, Thomas Ferlazzo of Rotterdam and Angelo Ferlazzo of Florida; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 9 a.m. Saturday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret of Cortona Roman Catholic Church in Rotterdam.
Burial is in St. Michael's Cemetery in Amsterdam.
A calling hour begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the River Cancer Treatment Center, Riverview Road, Rexford 12148.

Dominick Sampone
May 4, 2000
Dominick A. Sampone, 85, of Hover Avenue, Amsterdam, died Thursday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
He was born Oct. 1, 1914, in Amsterdam, the son of Nicholas and Pauline DeCarlo Sampone. He was educated in Amsterdam and was a lifelong city resident.
He worked for the city of Amsterdam's Water Department for 29 years, retiring in 1975.
Mr. Sampone was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church.
He married Josephine D'Alessandro April 22, 1934.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Pauline Matthews of Amsterdam; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at the DeStefano Funeral Home, Route 5S, Amsterdam.
Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
The calling hour is 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Rosswell Ramsey
May 4, 2000
Rosswell P. Ramsey, 88, of Earl Towers, Hudson Falls, formerly of West Summitt Street, Fort Edward, died Thursday at home after being stricken.
He was born in Corinth.
He worked for Arkell and Smith in Canajoharie. He moved to Washington County when the company was purchased by the Chase Bag Co. of Moreau. He retired from Chase Bag Co. in 1976 as a supervisor.
Mr. Ramsey attended the First Presbyterian Church.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Mousin Ramsey.
Survivors include a son, Ronald L. Ramsey of Burnt Hills; a daughter, Marilyn S. Morrill of Hudson Falls; three sisters, Sarah "Sallie" Brazie of Hudson Falls, Vera Talbot of Utica, and Christie Smith of New Hartford; a brother, Warren Ramsey of Wilton; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.
Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Edward, at a later date.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fort Edward Rescue Squad, Box 226, Fort Edward 12828.
