Evelyn Motala
May 19, 2000
Evelyn M. Motala, 85, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Floral Avenue, Rotterdam, died Friday at Blake Memorial Center in Bradenton, Fla.
She was born and educated in Amsterdam and moved to Schenectady as a young adult. She moved to Bradenton in 1993.
She worked as a secretary at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna for many years.
Mrs. Motala was a member of the Young Men's Polish Association and a longtime member of St. Joseph's Church, both in Schenectady.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leo J. Motala, in 1982.
Survivors include a son, Robert Motala of Clifton Park; a daughter, Maureen McCarthy of Bradenton; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Church, State Street, Schenectady.
Burial is in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph's Church Restoration Fund, 225 Lafayette St., Schenectady 12305.
Arrangements are by the Daly Funeral Home, Schenectady.

Stacia Draus
May 23, 2000
Stacia A. Draus, 87, of Roswell, Ga., formerly of Hagaman, died Tuesday at North Fulton Hospital in North Fulton after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 2, 1913, in Lithuania, the daughter of Felix and Anna Abrasonis Karpaitis. She moved to Amsterdam as a small child and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She moved to Georgia two years ago.
She worked for Mohawk Carpet and later as an assembler for Consolidated Novelty, retiring in 1972.
Mrs. Draus was a communicant of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church and was a member of its seniors group.
She married Adam S. Draus June 24, 1934. He died April 6, 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Johnson of Roswell, Ga.; a sister, Sophie Varsoke of Pine Island, Minn.; two granddaughters; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 8:15 a.m. Saturday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Casimir's Church with the Rev. Stanley J. Swierzowski officiating.
Interment is in St. Casimir's Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of St. Casimir's Church.

Clarence Collins
May 5, 2000
Clarence L. Collins Jr., 66, of the Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown, died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Broadalbin on Nov. 9, 1933, he was the son of Clarence and Carolyn Roosevelt Collins Sr. He attended Broadalbin schools.
Mr. Collins was employed by Lexington Center, Johnstown, until his retirement. He was a member of New Covenant Community Church, Johnstown.
Survivors include two sisters, Norma LaRowe and Almeda Sutliff, both of Johnstown; two brothers, Leland Collins of Belmont and Theodore Collins of Mayfield; nieces; nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main St., Johnstown, with the Rev. Richard Snider officiating. Burial will be in Fish House Cemetery, Broadalbin.
Calling hours are Sunday at 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lexington Center or to the American Cancer Society.

Shirley Kuhne
May 5, 2000
Shirley E. Kuhne, 65, of Gloversville, died Friday at Nathan Littauer Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam on May 26, 1934, she was the daughter of harold and Alzina Razzano Shults. She was a graduate of Johnstown High School.
Mrs. Kuhne was employed by Ed's True Value Hardware at the time of her death. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Johnstown; St. Patrick's Rosary Society and a past president and a former Woman of the Year of the Johnstown B.P.W.
She married Fred Khune on June 30, 1956.
Besides her husband, survivors include a sister, Betty Green of Johnstown; a brother, Ronald Shults of Arlington, Texas; nieces; nephews and cousins.
A memorial Mass will be conducted at St. Patrick's Church at a time and date to be announced. Burial will be in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Arrangements are by the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.

Doris Lawyer
May 24, 2000
Doris L. Lawyer, 72, of Bridge Street, Broadalbin, died Wednesday at Albany Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born June 4, 1927, in Springfield, Mass., the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Goupie Miner. She moved to Albany as a child and lived in Broadalbin since 1963.
She was a homemaker.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank A. Lawyer, March 26, 1961.
Survivors include a son, Frank A. Lawyer III of Albany; a daughter, Helen L. Lawyer of Gloversville; a sister, Florence Valason of East Greenbush; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; one niece; two nephews; and four great-nephews.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 38 W. Main St., Broadalbin, with the Rev. Patricia A. Bush officiating.
Cremation is at Parkview Crematorium, Schenectady.
Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Joyce Zimmerman
May 25, 2000
Joyce A. Hickok Zimmerman, 75, of 256 County Route 146, Mayfield, died Thursday at Albany Medical Center after a short illness.
She was born April 10, 1925, in the town of Perth, the daughter of Wesley and Harriet Richard Hickok.
She was a member of TOPS.
She married Raymond E. "Jake" Zimmerman July 3, 1953.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Darlene J. Demarest and Eleanor Zimmerman-Nikollaj, both of Mayfield; three brothers, Leo Hickok of Perth, Leonard Hickok of Waterford, and Donald Hickok of Waynesboro, Pa.; three sisters, Beatrice Frederick and Christina Ellis, both of Perth, and Erna Brownell of Gloversville; five grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Rev. David C. Newkirk, pastor of the Mayfield United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment is in Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 50 Colvin Ave., Albany 12206; or to a charity of one's choice.

Nicolina Amorosi
May 25, 2000
Nicolina M. Amorosi, 76, of Rotterdam, died Thursday at home.
She was born in Amsterdam.
She worked as a glove maker in Amsterdam. She later worked at Alfred's Bakery, Rotterdam, and at Augie's Deli for many years, retiring in 1986.
Mrs. Amorosi was a communicant of Our Lady of Assumption Church
She was a member of VFW Post 1895 and the South Schenectady Fire Department Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Julius Amorosi; a son, Anthony Amorosi of Rotterdam; a daughter, Toni Marie Amorosi of Duanesburg; a sister, Marylou Galeazza of Amsterdam; and four grandchildren.
The funeral is 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Assumption Church.
Interment is in St. Cyril's Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Community Hospice.

Susan Beach
May 24, 2000
Susan B. Beach, 48, of Loonenburgh Turnpike, Sharon, died Wednesday at home.
She was born Nov. 22, 1951, in Cobleskill, the daughter of Louis and Elsie Walker Snyder. She graduated from Cobleskill High school in 1970 and attended both Syracuse Beauty School and the Austin Beauty School in Albany.
She moved in the town of Sharon in 1973.
Mrs. Beach was the owner-operator of The Beach House, a beauty shop on Loonenburgh Turnpike, for many years. She was a licensed beautician for more than 30 years.
She was a communicant of St. Matthew's Chapel in Leesville and a member of the Sharon Springs Central School Booster Club.
She married Robert A. Beach Aug. 21, 1971.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Alison W. Rorick of Vestal; a son, Robert A. Beach II of Sharon Springs; her mother, Effie Garner of Cobleskill; two brothers, John Garner of Lee, N.H., and Thomas Garner of Cobleskill; two sisters, Gwen Moffre of Malta and Beth DelSignore of Troy; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 70 E. Main St., Cobleskill, with the Rev. Bert Mayne officiating.
Burial is in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew's Chapel in care of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 70 E. Main St., Cobleskill 12043.
Arrangements are by the Langan Funeral Home, 227 Main St., Schoharie.

Edna Sorval
May 24, 2000
Edna Sorval, 80, of State Route 80, Fort Plain, died Wednesday at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, after a long illness.
She was born Aug. 23, 1919, in Fonda, the daughter of Crawford and Maude Schultz Kneaskern. She was educated in Canajoharie and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a machine operator at Beech-Nut Nutrition Corp. in the gum department.
Mrs. Sorval was a member of the 25-year Club of Beech-Nut.
She married Thomas R. Sorval Oct. 25, 1941.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Barbara L. Austin of Queensbury and Renee K. Nellis of South Glens Falls; a son, Thomas R. Sorval II of Kissimmee, Fla.; two sisters, Esther Krohn and Regina Northover, both of Johnstown; a brother, Crawford Kneaskern of Summerfield, Fla.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday at Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain, with the Rev. Carl Hawyer officiating.
Burial is in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Albina Liggero
June 11, 2000
Albina Liggero, 81, formerly of Essex Street, Amsterdam, died Sunday at the Wilkinson Health Care Facility, Amsterdam.
She was born Jan. 6, 1919, in Naples, Italy, the daughter of Ferdinano and Anna Salerno Antinolfi. She moved to Amsterdam as a child, attended local schools, and was a lifelong area resident.
She worked at Hanover Dress Co. and later with Mohawk Sportswear, retiring in 1965.
Mrs. Liggero was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church.
She married Ernest Liggero June 28, 1938. He died May 4, 1987.
She was predeceased by a son, Ronald Liggero, in 1949.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Liggero and Lawrence Liggero, both of Amsterdam; three daughters, Anna Marie Raila and Cynthia Machold, both of Amsterdam, and Elaine Loomis of Schenectady; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at the DeStefano Funeral Home, Route 5S, Amsterdam, followed at 9:15 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church.
Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church or to The Liberty House Foundation.
