Maria A. Saraceni Previdi passed away Thursday at her daughter's home in Madison, N.J.
Born in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Charles and Dora Donofrio Saraceni. She was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Maria attended Michigan State University and then moved to New York City where she began her career as a physician's assistant at the Park Avenue office of Dr. Frederick Bailey, chief resident of Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.
Following her marriage, she moved to northern New Jersey where she lived for 20 years until 1993 when she made her home in Madison.
Maria was of the Roman Catholic faith and was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church when living in Amsterdam.
Survivors include her three loving children, Richard Previdi of Summit, N.J., Stephen Previdi of Santa Monica, Calif., and Marisa Marks of Madison; two dear sisters, Clorinda Kaylor of Delray Beach, Fla., and Livia Saraceni of Amsterdam; and five grandchildren, Alexandra, Sloane, R.J., Kayla and Nile.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated August 14 (Tuesday) at 11:15 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Grove Street, Amsterdam., with the Rev. Pascal A. Iannotti as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the National Shrine of St. Jude, Chicago, in care of Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 1717 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, to whom the family has entrusted the arrangements.
Winifred Mac
August 1, 2001
Mrs. Winifred Mac, 83, of Milton Avenue, Amsterdam, died Wednesday morning at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
She was born May 19, 1918 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Teofil and Frances Karp Malinowski.
Mrs. Mac attended Amsterdam schools and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a setter for Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Mills and later was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.
Mrs. Mac is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Leo E. Mac of Amsterdam; her dear sister, Isabelle Schaeffer of Amsterdam; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, Frank Malinowski and two sisters, Stella Olander and Mary M. Cerserlitch.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held this morning at St. Stanislaus Church. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation was private and at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Guzielek-Pomykaj Funeral Home, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam.
Vera E. Anderson
July 31, 2001
Vera E. Anderson, 86, formerly of Fort Hunter, passed away July 31, 2001, at her daughter's home in Tempe, Arizona, where she resided for the past four years.
She was born January 21, 1915 in Marietta, Ohio, daughter of Delmar and Addie Nelson.
Her beloved husband, Uri (Doc) Hammond passed away March 31, 1957 and her beloved husband Ambrose (Bum) Anderson passed away December 18, 1996.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Hammond of Westminster, S.C., and Robert Hammond of Tarpon Springs, FL; two daughters, Kay Fisher of Tempe, AZ, and Joyce Brach of Fort Collins, CO; a stepson, David Anderson of Galway; a brother, Harry Nelson of Oak Park MI; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life is being held August 30 at Shalimar Golf Club, 2032 East Golf Ave., Tempe, from 6:30 to 9 p..m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 222 S. Dobson Road, Suite 401, Mesa, AZ 85202.
Roman Bielawa

A graveside service will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2001, at St. John's Cemetery in Amsterdam for Roman E. Bielawa of Stratford, Connecticut, formerly of Amsterdam, who died February 25, 2001.
Local arrangements are by The Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam.
Mary Rivera
August 1, 2001
Mary Rivera, 45, of Division Street died Wednesday as the result of an apparent homicide in her home.
She was born in Amsterdam on June 6, 1956, a daughter of Pedro and Carla Villanueva Rivera. She was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Mary was currently employed as a kitchen aide for Liberty Enterprises in Amsterdam.
She was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons: Nelson Langford of Scotia and Michael Rivera of Amsterdam; her father, Pedro Rivera of Amsterdam; a brother: Edwin Rivera and his wife Tracy of Amsterdam; a sister Nilda and her husband David Newell of Fort Johnson; a grandson: Jared Langford of Scotia; two aunts, one uncle and many cousins also survive.
She was predeceased by a daughter Carla Maria Martin who passed away in 1995.
Services are Monday at 8:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Father Pascal A. Iannotti celebrant. Interment is in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the fund established for her sons care of the funeral home.
Edward E. Carron
August 14, 2001
Edward E. Carron Jr., 47, passed away August 14, 2001 in Jonesboro, Tenn., where he had recently relocated. He was a former resident of Amsterdam.
He attended Fonda-Fultonville Central School and had worked for numerous area farms and the Martyr's Shrine, Auriesville.
He was a sports enthusiast and an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Laura, of Jonesboro; one son, Clay; two daughters, Rebecca Fae and Jamie Faith, also of Jonesboro. He is also survived by his mother, Ferne L. Carron of Tribes Hill; his father, Edward E. Carron Sr. of Charleston; one sister, Gayle of Tri-Cities, Washington; three brothers, Gary of Waterville, Joseph of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Mark of Baltic, Ohio; his maternal grandmother, Luella Jones of Palatine Bridge; several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, William.
Visitation and burial will take place August 18 in Jonesboro. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Martyr's Shrine, 136 Shrine Road, Auriesville, N.Y. 12016.
A local memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Jane W. DiCruttalo

Jane W. DiCruttalo, 81, of Mathias Avenue, Amsterdam, passed away Friday morning at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam on Oct. 26, 1919, she was the daughter of Feliks and Agnes Trybeck Wienckowski.
Mrs. DiCruttalo received her education in the Amsterdam school system and was employed by the State of New York's departments of Labor, and Taxation and Finance until her retirement in 1983.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Church.
Mrs. DiCruttalo is survived by her daughter, Audrey Gutheil and her husband Richard F. Gutheil of Amsterdam and one cousin, Edmund Sulkowski of Niskayuna.
Reposing at the Riley Mortuary Inc., where the funeral will be held Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock, followed at 11:15 o'clock by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Stanislaus Church, Amsterdam.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam.
Calling hours will be Sunday evening from 5 to 8 at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. DiCruttalo's name may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, 50 Cornell St. or GAVAC, P.O. Box 11, both of Amsterdam, 12010.
David W. Kopec
August 16, 2001
David W. Kopec, 41, of Pioneer Street, Amsterdam, died Thursday afternoon at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after being stricken.
Born on Feb. 15, 1960 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Daniel F. and Patricia Majewska Kopec. He attended Amsterdam schools and was a 1978 graduate of the Amsterdam High School.
Mr. Kopec was self-employed at the time of his death. He owned and operated DK's Cleaning Service in Amsterdam. He was a member of the Church of St. John the Baptist. He was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Great Sacandaga Lake Fisheries Federation.
Mr. Kopec is survived by his parents, Daniel F. and Patricia Majewska Kopec of Amsterdam; a daughter, Deena Kopec of Amsterdam; a brother, James Kopec of Broadalbin; his companion, Teri Istle of Amsterdam; nieces; aunts; uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. John the Baptist. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of St. John the Baptist or the Great Sacandaga Lake Fisheries Federation, both in care of the funeral chapel.
Rose Marie Reksc

Rose Marie Reksc, formerly of Crane Street, Amsterdam, died Thursday afternoon at Montgomery Meadows.

Catherine Jobin Neuberger
August 20, 2001
Catherine Jobin Neuberger, 39, of Horstman Drive, Scotia, died August 20, 2001 in Rosenhien Klinikun Hospital in Germany.
Cathy was born in Amsterdam, to Richard and Mary Jobin. She was a 1979 graduate of Amsterdam High School and received an Associate's Degree in 1981 from Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Cathy also attended Oneonta State University. She worked in food service for over 20 years as a deli supervisor for the Golub Corporation at their various locations. Until the onset of her illness, Cathy worked for six months as a data entry clerk at the main office for the Golub Corporation.
Cathy was a Girl Scout leader for Troop 148 in Glenville and was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville.
Cathy is survived by her husband, John W. Neuberger, whom she married in 1983. She is also survived by a son, John W. Neuberger III, and a daughter, Christina C. Neuberger, both of Scotia; her loving parents, Richard and Mary Jobin of Amsterdam; two brothers, David Jobin and Richard Jobin, both of Amsterdam. A sister, Carol Mellon of Fultonville as well as her grandmother, Catherine Sinicropi Galluccio of Australia, also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 31, at 9:45 a.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road in East Glenville, followed at 10:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church, 236 First Street in Scotia. Calling hours will be at the Glenville Funeral Home Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions in Cathy's name are requested to be made to the John W. Neuberger III and Christina C. Neuberger College Trust Fund, in care of Hudson River Bank and Trust Co., attention Paul McEwan, 290 Saratoga Road, Scotia, New York 12302 or to Riverview Cancer Care Medical Associates, 896 Riverview Road, Rexford, New York 12148-1399.
Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery on Glenridge Road in East Glenville.
Terrence J. Sheppie
August 25, 2001
Mr. Terrence J. Sheppie, 42, of State Highway 30, Perth, died Saturday at Saratoga Hospital, Saratoga Springs. He had been missing on the Great Sacandaga Lake near Edinburg since August 17, 2001.
He was born June 30, 1959 in Amsterdam, a son of Thomas A. and Eleanor M. Gomula Sheppie.
He was a graduate of Perth Central High School, Class of 1977 where he was an honors student. He always resided in the area.
He was the owner/operator of Shep's Home Improvement in this area and Florida.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church He was also a member of the Sons of the Legion Amsterdam Post 701 and Post 337, Broadalbin, for 17 years.
He was an avid sportsman who loved fishing, camping and visits to the ocean.
He took great pride in his workmanship and the conduct of his business. Most of all, he enjoyed his children, family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Thomas A. and Eleanor M. Gomula Sheppie, New Port Richey, FL; his two daughters, Katie Guisti, Fonda, and Simmone Marie Sheppie, Amsterdam; two brothers, Thomas M. and Timothy S. Sheppie, St. Petersburg, FL; two sisters, Brenda S. Sheppie-Mickus, Broadalbin, and Bonnie L. Sheppie, New Port Richey, FL; aunts; uncles; one niece, Shayla Jean Mickus; one nephew, Zachary Thomas Sheppie; cousins and many friends.
A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 9:15 Thursday morning at St. Mary's Church, Main Street, Amsterdam. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are 5 to 8 Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Shriner's Hospital 516 Carew Street, Springfield, Mass., 01104 or to a trust fund for Mr. Sheppie's children, in care of the funeral home.
Pearl Crews
August 26, 2001
Mrs. Pearl Edna Crews, 99, Elm Street, Cortland, died Sunday, August 26, 2001 at Cortland Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born July 23, 1902 in Jordanville, to Herbert and Mary Andrews, Mrs. Crews was educated at the former Cranes Corners School.
Mrs. Crews was a homemaker and mother. She was formerly employed at Beech-Nut in Canajoharie and previously at Norad Mills in Massachusetts.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She married Cecil R. Crews June 2, 1923 in North Adams, MA. He died in 1980.
She was also predeceased by two sons, Richard C. Crews and Clifford D. Crews and a daughter, Helen Katovich.
Survivors include two sons, Robert R. Crews and James R. Crews, both of Fort Plain; three daughters, Linda Kay West, Cortland, Barbara Pedrick, Cartersvile, GA, and Constance D'Arcangelis, Fort Plain; 26 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating.
Calling hours are private.
