David M. Cirillo, 43, of Union Mills Road, Town of Broadalbin, died Saturday due to a motorcycle accident.
Born February 9, 1958 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Nicholas and Jeannette Cirillo of Hagaman who survive. He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools.
Mr. Cirillo had been a carpenter with Carpenters Union Local 370, Albany. He was of the Catholic faith.
Mr. Cirillo is survived by his fiance, Terri McClarren of Broadalbin; his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Doug Delaney; two nephews, Nicholas and Shane, both of St. Marys, GA; his maternal grandmother, Genevieve Constantine of Amsterdam; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, with the Rev. James Gulley officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of one's choice, in care of the funeral home.
Angelo M. Aldi
September 15, 2001
Angelo M. Aldi, 78, formerly of Rotterdam Junction and most recently of New Smyrna Beach, FL, died Saturday. September 15, 2001 at St. Clare's Hospital, Schenectady, following a short illness.
Born in Amsterdam, Mr. Aldi was a graduate of the Technical High School in Amsterdam. The son of Angelo and Mary Aldi, he fought for his country in World War II. Angelo served in the 1st Marine Division (1941-46) in the Guadalcanal campaign, receiving both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
For 35 years, he lived in Rotterdam Junction. He was a member of St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Fire Department (District #1), as well as a commissioner for over 20 years of his 35 years of service. He was a life member of the VFW and a commander for the Wells-Mitchell Post 6766 in Rotterdam Junction from 1964-86. He was a life member of the 1st Marine Division and the Cootie Military Order in the United States. Mr. Aldi was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks New Smyrna Lodge 2723 and the Loyal Order of the Moose #1835. He was a member of the American Legion New Smyrna Post #0017.
Angelo was employed by the General Electric Company in Schenectady for 34 years as a steelworker, retiring in 1984.
He married the former Amelia Chupka May 15, 1948.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Amelia Aldi of Scotia; his son, Michael S. Aldi and his wife, Bonita, of Scotia; his daughter, Shirley Aldi-Favata of Rotterdam. He is the brother of Peter Aldi of Orange Park, FL, Joseph Aldi and Rose Stuczko, both of Amsterdam, and Louisa LaVallee of Rotterdam, the grandfather of Dawn Townsend, Stephen and David Aldi and Dominick and Antoni Favata.
Funeral services are Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, East Glenville, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, Main Street, Rotterdam Junction.
Calling hours are Tuesday, September 18 at the Glenville Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. Interment with military honors will be at Saratoga National Veteran's Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1450 Western Avenue, Albany, N.Y. 12203.
Florence Wager Bruse
September 15, 2001
Mrs. Florence Wager Bruse, 83, Fourth Avenue, Gloversville, died Saturday, September 15, 2001 at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, following a short illness.
She was born January 8, 1918 in Utica, the daughter of Ernest and Esther Dodge Wager. Known to many as "Nana," she was employed over the years at the lunch counter at the former Woolworth's and also at Mohawk Cabinet Company and Coleco Industries of Gloversville.
She was married January 22, 1938 to Paul H. Bruse who died August 6, 1971.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Wyszomirski, Broadalbin, and Diane Perna of Gloversville; four sons, Paul, Charles, David and Michael Bruse, all of Gloversville; a sister, Gertrude Nicosia, W. Melbourne, FL; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest and Charles Wager; a sister, Bertha Schulte and a grandson, Jason Perna.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, September 29 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will take pace at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, N.Y. 12078.
Myrtle Greenslete
September 15, 2001
Mrs. Myrtle Greenslete, 102, formerly of Division Street, Fort Plain, died Saturday, September 15, 2001, at Palatine Nursing Home after a long illness.
Born August 4, 1899 in Lake Pleasant, the daughter of Henry and Ida Dunham Murdock, Mrs. Greenslete was a graduate of Wells High School.
Mrs. Greenslete assisted her husband and son in the operation of the former Nelson's Laundry, Fort Plain, from 1940 until her retirement in 1962.
A lifelong area resident, she was a member of Fort Plain United Methodist Church.
She married Nelson C. Greenslete September 15, 1922. He died April 27, 1984.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis Foster who died in 1986.
Survivors include a son, Andrew C. Greenslete, Fort Plain; a sister, Ida Wilson, Sarasota, FL; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held at Fort Plain Cemetery at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Alan Baumback officiating. Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 126, Canajoharie, N.Y. 13317.

Vivian Herron
September 16, 2001
Vivian L. Herron, 77, of Cliff Street, Canajoharie, passed away unexpectedly Sunday at the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, while visiting her children.
Arrangements, under the direction of Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie, are incomplete.
Anthony Kopec
September 28, 2001
Mr. Anthony "Tony" Kopec, 91, formerly of Milton Avenue, Amsterdam, died Friday morning at Montgomery Meadows after a short illness.
Born on Dec, 18, 1909 in Brooklyn, he was the son of Martin and Frances Rozmus Kopec. Mr. Kopec moved to Amsterdam as a young boy. He attended Amsterdam schools and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
He was a machine gun instructor and sharpshooter for the Army National Guard in Company G during World War II.
He was married to Edna Czelusniak Kopec on June 4, 1930. She died on Feb. 17, 1995.
He was employed for many years by Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation until his retirement. Mr. Kopec was a member of the Church of St. John the Baptist, where he was an altar boy, served as trustee and usher and was a member of the former St. John's Sacred Heart Society. He was an instructor of the 7th Ward Fyfe and Drum Corps. Mr. Kopec was also a member and treasurer of the former Polish National Legion and was a member of its Glee Club. He was an avid bowler and was a member of the former St. John's Club Bowling League. Mr. Kopec was also an avid baseball player and golfer.
Mr. Kopec is survived by his loving daughter, Barbara Winkiel of Round Rock, Texas; three devoted granddaughters, Linda Selby and her husband Bruce of Broadalbin, Leslie St. Amour and her husband Jeff of Round Rock, Texas and Lorraine Wilson and her husband Kevin of Houston, Texas; eight wonderful great-grandchildren, Justin, Ethan and Katie Selby of Broadalbin, Eric and Nicole St. Amour of Round Rock, Texas and Brian, Connor and Alexa Wilson of Houston, Texas. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Mr. Kopec is predeceased by three brothers, Frank, John and Stanley Kopec and a sister, Mary Ackles.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 8:30 a.m. at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at the Church of St. John the Baptist.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of St. John the Baptist in care of the funeral chapel.
Jane Elizabeth Selden

Jane Elizabeth Selden died Saturday, September 29, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
Jane was born in Rome, New York, June 5, 1925, the daughter of Willard and Florence Francis.
On October 22, 1942, she married Aubrey Selden. The family moved to their present residence in Glen, New York in 1961.
Jane enjoyed life to the fullest and was an accomplished artist. Her latest painting is on display in the Fonda Courthouse. She also enjoyed quilting, antique collecting, horseback riding, piano and frequent trips to the Maine seashore.
Jane will be remembered best for the example she set for all those who knew her. As a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a friend she can only be described as wonderful. Perhaps her greatest gift was the time she devoted to her grandchildren. She was a gentle and loving person and the bonds she formed, the examples she set, the patient nurturing she gave, will love forever in their hearts.
She was a member of the Glen Reformed Church.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Aubrey; her sons, Gary and his wife Leellyn of Alamogordo N.M., Lynn and his wife Lisa of Glen, N.Y., Thomas and his wife Claudia of Glen, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Glen Reformed Church in Glen, N.Y. with the Rev. Joyce Jennings officiating. Burial will take place in Glen Cemetery followed by a balloon ceremony. The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Glen Cemetery Funeral, in care of the funeral home.
Carrie Bell Winsman

Miss Carrie Bell Winsman, 94, formerly of Center Street, Fultonville, died Sunday morning at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home where she was a resident for a year.
Born November 30, 1906 in Randall, she was the daughter of Oscar and Mary Humpreyville Winsman. Miss Winsman was a lifelong area resident and attended Randall schools and Fultonville High School. Later, she attended the Royal Academy of Beauty Culture in Schenectady.
She was employed by Beech-Nut in Canajoharie for 17 years and after worked as a hairdresser for six years. She later was employed as a cook at the Pattersonville Thruway Restaurant.
Miss Winsman was a member of the Randall Christian Church, the Mohawk Seniors and the VFW Auxiliary of Fultonville.
She was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters and is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 p.m. at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, with the Rev. Neuton Perrins officiating. Burial will take place in Maple Avenue Cemetery in Fultonville. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Randall Christian Church, in care of the funeral home.
Guerino A "Gary" Viscusi
September 29, 2001
Guerino A. "Gary" Viscusi, 84, of DeStefano Street, Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam January 8, 1917, a son of Libero and Giovannia Marcucci Viscusi, he was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended local schools.
Mr. Viscusi first was in the Civilian Conservation Corps where he learned surveying. He then worked at the Garner Broom Co. until enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1936, serving until 1939. He was drafted back into the service in 1943 during World War II, serving in the Army 1st Engineers Corps until 1946.
Mr. Viscusi also worked for various construction companies throughout his career. He worked at the U.S. Navy Depot in Scotia at different times as a railroad operator and yardmaster. He was also employed for a time by the General Electric Company in Schenectady as a bridge crane operator. Mr. Viscusi worked as a Post Office clerk for over 15 years at the U.S. Post Office in Amsterdam. He last was employed before retiring in 1970 by St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam in the maintenance department. Even after his retirement, he worked cleaning furnaces and hot water heaters with Dave Richard in Amsterdam.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the American Legion Post 701.
He married his beloved wife, the former Nancy DiCaterino, June 8, 1941 and celebrated their 60th anniversary this year.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two loving daughters, Michele Venezia and her husband Angelo J. Venezia Jr. of Herndon, VA, and Kathleen Egbert of Fairfax, VA; one brother, Anthony Viscusi of Syracuse; two dear sisters, Constance "Connie" Nicosia of Amsterdam and Louise Cipullo of Amsterdam; four cherished grandchildren, Rebekah Venezia Mercer and her husband Andrew of Virginia, Alexander Venezia, Neil Egbert and Kathryn "Kate" Egbert, all of Virginia; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Viscusi was pre-deceased by a beloved daughter, Joan A. Whalen October 30, 2000, and a cherished grandson, Gerald R. "Butch" Trejderowski Jr. October 3, 1997. He was also predeceased by a dear brother, Dominick Viscusi in 2000.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Amsterdam. Interment will take place in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home. Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. The American Legion Post 701 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
