Edith Jeannette Muszynski
August 1, 2002
Edith Jeannette Muszynski, 85, of Elizabeth Street, Tribes Hill, passed away Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
She was a lifelong area resident of Amsterdam and worked for many years as a Clerk for Mohawk Carpet Mills in Amsterdam.
She is survived by a nephew Paul Ahrens of Pulaski, NY.
Funeral Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
Interment is in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam.
Arrangements are by the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

James A. Miller
July 30, 2002
James A. Miller, 78, died at home in Venice, FL on July 30, 2002.
He was born June 28, 1924 in Amsterdam. He served in the Army in Europe during World War II and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Robert Lee Walsh Post 337 in Broadalbin. He was a former chief of the Perth Volunteer Fire Department and a NYS Fire Warden.
Before moving to Venice in 1995, he owned and operated Jim Miller's Auto Repair and Towing Service in Perth. For years, the Tri-County Twirlettes marching group depended on him for the maintenance of their equipment and vehicles, as well as his constant support.
Survivors include his wife Kay, Venice; son James Jr, Hagaman; step-son James Hare, Broadalbin; daughters Carol Chandler, St. Johnsville; Barbara Cannell, Mayfield; Joanne Mucilli and Gail Carusone, Amsterdam; Joan Schell, Hagaman; Susan Miller, Broadalbin; Jill Timberlake, Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan and Karen Boyd, W.Yarmouth, MA; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A local memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Broadalbin on Saturday, August 10 at 1:00 pm.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 300, Memphis, TN 38148-0552; or to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

Cindy M. Vokins
August 1, 2002
Cindy M. Vokins, 47 of 482 County Highway 151, St. Johnsville, a long tine employee of Niagara Mohawk, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2002 at her home after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. from the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Saturday, August 3, 2002 from noon until the time of services.
Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
All memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics or to Ambulance Service of Fulton County. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Joseph William Bubniak
August 3, 2002
Mr. Joseph William Bubniak, 92, of Church Street, Amsterdam, NY died at home on Saturday, August 3, 2002.
He was born in Amsterdam, NY on August 9, 1909 a son of the late Joseph and Katherine Pijanowski Bubniak. He was educated in local schools, was a lifelong resident, and was known by many as "J.B."
He began work at the Stephen Sanford Carpet Company and later was a supervisor of the shipping department at the Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Company. He retired as a supervisor from the Fiber Glass Industries in 1974.
He was an avid golfer and lifelong player at the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Church and a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Society.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Stasia Kowalski Bubniak; a son, Lt. Col. Robert P. Bubniak, USA, Ret. and daughter-in-law Joan Pawlak Bubniak, of Annandale, Virginia; his granddaughters, Alison Bubniak, of Vienna, Virginia and Erica Bubniak Jones, of Washington, D.C.; a sister Lottie Bubniak Carero of Camarillo, California; nephews William Carero, of Camarillo, CA, and Christopher Carero of Florence, Kentucky; also survived by his sister-in-law Martha Kuk and her daughter Patricia Zarzycki and several close and loving cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother William and sisters Mary, Katherine, and Cecelia.
The funeral will be held 8:30 Tuesday morning at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 o'clock at St. Stanislaus Church. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are 4-7 this afternoon and evening.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church or School or to Community Hospice of Amsterdam.

Conrad "Connie" Kriger
August 4, 2002
Conrad "Connie" Kriger 92, of Highland Garden Townhouse Apartments, Church Street, died Sunday morning at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam on June 18, 1910, a son of Afram and Gussie L. Metz Kriger, he attended local schools and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Kriger was employed by the New York State Department of Labor in Amsterdam.
During World War II, he served with the US Army.
He was a member of Congregation Sons of Israel Synagogue.
Married in 1955, Mr. Kriger is predeceased by his wife Rose Ungerman Kriger who died January 6, 1985.
Survivors include a brother, Philip Kriger of Hagaman; a sister, Eva Kriger Setterney of Stamford, Connecticut; two nieces, a nephew and cousins.
Service are Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, with the Rabbi Matthew S. Cutler officiating.
Interment will follow in the Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery, Cranesville.
A calling hour will precede the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 11, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Rose Hoff
Rose Hoff, age 97, beloved wife of the late J. Ralph Hoff. Loving daughter, devoted sister, proud mother of Herbert (Evelyn) and Claire (Maurice) Greenfogel, of Amsterdam. Grandmother of Michael, Patricia, Terry, Stephen and Vivian. Great grandmother of Aaron, Alana, Benjamin, Matthew, Mark, Samuel Carolyn and Meryl Rose.
She met every challenge of the tumultuous century her life mirrored and excelled as a legal secretary, wife and mother, corporate officer, art student and accomplished painter, our memory of her compassionate and unqualified love will endure as her legacy to all whose life she touched.

Beverly L. Argersinger Ford
August 11, 2002
Beverly L. Argersinger Ford, 51, of County Highway 132, Hagaman, passed away suddenly Sunday morning at her home.
Born in Amsterdam on December 22, 1950, a daughter of the late Harry and Audrey Child Argersinger. She was a 1969 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School and was a member of the Hagaman United Methodist Church her youth. She moved to Middleburgh, where she lived until returning to this area a year and a half ago.
She married Thomas J. Ford Sr. on April 4, 1970. He predeceased her on March 5, 2000.
Her loving family includes her children: Thomas J. Ford Jr. of Hagaman, Deanna M. Ford-Gould and her husband Thomas of Schenectady, and Shaunell Ford of Guilderland; she was the devoted Grandmother to Thomas J. Ford III, Rhiannon Ford, Taylor and Alexandra Gould; her sister, Diane Gutowski of Hagaman; brothers: Gerald and Donald Argersinger both of Amsterdam, and David Argersinger of Hagaman; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Services are Thursday at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue. the Rev Jack Arnold officiating. Interment is in the Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5-8 pm. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Heart Association.

Katherine E. Shults
August 12, 2002
Mrs. Katherine E. Shults, 87, formerly of Midline Road died Monday at the Wilkinson Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born April 5, 1915 in Amsterdam, New York a daughter of the late John and Mary Barczak Szala. She was educated locally and always lived here.
She was employed by the former Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Company, Mohawk Carpet Company. Lastly, she worked for the Consolidated Novelty Company before retiring. She was also a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.
She was married to Walter A. Shults. He died June 17, 2000.
She is survived by one son, Robert Shults, Amsterdam, NY; one daughter, Sharon Lansburg, Amsterdam, NY; two grandsons, Alvie and Brian Lansburg, Amsterdam, NY; one great-grandson, Logan Lansburg; one brother, Matthew Szala, Amsterdam, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held 10:30 Thursday morning at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 O'clock at St. Stanislaus Church. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are 4-7 Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps (GAVAC) or to the SPCA, 1007 Rte. 5S, Amsterdam, NY.

Betty R. Spencer
August 11, 2002
Betty R. Spencer, 74, of the Town of Leeds, died Sunday, August 11, 2002 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson after a brief illness.
Betty was born February 4, 1928 in East Herkimer, NY, the daughter of the late Gary and Clara (Rennie) Rumrill. Betty was a housewife and mother of four boys. She participated in several community organizations throughout her life. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Ernest Spencer in 1985.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Herbert K. (Marilyn B.), John P. (Jacqueline B.), James S. (Bonnie W.), and E. Richard. She is also survived by six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Friends may call at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont on Thursday from 9-11 am. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 3 pm at Roseboom Cemetery, Roseboom, NY.

Louise Sadak
August 12, 2002
Mrs. Louise Sadak, 92, formerly of Stratton Apartments, Amsterdam died Monday at the Northwoods Nursing Home in Troy.
Born on November 4, 1909 in Amsterdam, NY the daughter of Henry and Agusta Shultz Krutz, she was a lifelong Amsterdam resident.
She was employed a sewing machine operator for Fownes Gloves and Mohawk Sportswear until her retirement in 1970.
Mrs. Sadak was a member of the Port Jackson Seniors and the Inmans Senior Center in Amsterdam. She was also a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Amsterdam where she served as a deacon.
She was predeceased in 1963 by her husband John Sadak, whom she married on February 14, 1935. She was also predeceased by a daughter Linda Dreaney on December 29, 1992.
Survivors include a son John C. Sadak and his wife Dolores of Clifton Park; two daughters: Patricia A. Rudebush of Troy and Beverly J. King of Manlius, NY; a son-in-law Roger Dreaney of Amsterdam; a brother Henry Krutz of Hagaman; a sister Agusta Conde of Scotia; eight grandchildren: Robin Wendler of Stowe, MA, Diane Smith-Sadak of Joppa, MD, John Sadak of Coral Springs, FL, Gina Granstafs of Lebanon, TN, Allyn Warman of Nassau, NY, Cara Sgroi of Penfield, NY, Todd Dreaney of Altamont, NY and Teresa Dreaney of Amsterdam; thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Dan J. Wheeler officiating. Burial will take place in Green Hill Cemetery, Amsterdam. Calling hours will be Wednesday 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Presbyterian Church, 11 Mohawk Pl., Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Anthony J. Liberis
August 13, 2002
Anthony J. Liberis, 84, of Montgomery Meadows and formerly of Glen Avenue, passed away Tuesday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam on July 31, 1918, he was the son of Joseph and Ursula Kristanavicius.
Mr. Liberis was a 1937 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School and was employed by the City of Amsterdam as a police officer from 1945 to 1950 and as a firefighter from 1950 until retiring as battalion chief in 1980.
During World War II, Mr. Liberis served with the U.S. Army as a paratrooper with the First Special Service Force of the 82nd Airborne Division at Anzio and France and the Aleutian Islands. He was the recipient of numerous medals for bravery and heroism.
Mr. Liberis was a competitor in the New York State weightlifting Championship of 1940, a Charter Member of the Amsterdam Zephyrs semi-pro football team (1946 and 1947), and a member of the Amsterdam Permanent Firefighters Association (Retired).
He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Church.
Mr. Liberis was married to the former Helen T. Pawloski on April 28, 1946. She passed away on May 21, 2001.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, John J. and Susan Liberis of Schenectady.
A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, August 17th at 11 a.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division St., Amsterdam, NY.
Inurnment will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 40 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
