Dale H. Reed, 72, of Bellen Road, Broadalbin, died Tuesday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady following a brief illness.
He was born in Johnson City, New York on September 7, 1929 a son of Frank and Eliza Cloutier Reed and moved to the Broadalbin area as an infant. Mr. Reed was a 1947 graduate of the former Broadalbin High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Reed was honorable discharged in 1962.
He was employed for 40 years at the General Electric Co. in Schenectady, retiring in 1987 as a Methods Specialist.
Mr. Reed was of the Catholic faith.
He was a founding member of the Fish House Fish & Game Club and an active member of its Board of Trustees. Mr. Reed was a lifelong member of the NRA and an avid outdoorsman and wildlife enthusiast. He was also an active volunteer at the Joseph L. Wilkinson Memorial Library Station in Broadalbin. Mr. Reed was also a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club as well as a member of the Class of 1947 Reunion Committee.
He was predeceased by his brother, John E. "Jack" Reed who died in 1974.
Survivors include his wife, the former Anne Bogart Reed, whom he married on September 17, 1955; 2 daughters, Melissa A. Winsman, of Amsterdam, and Hilary R. Ruzycky of Broadalbin; his mother, Eliza Ammerall, of Amsterdam; a sister, Dawn Swan of St. Simons Island, Ga; 3 grandchildren, Aaron Winsman, Jocelyn Ruzycky and Benjamin Ruzycky; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., 38 West Main Street, Broadalbin with the Rev. Paul Moyer officiating. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 p.m. Cremation will be performed at the Parkview Crematorium, Schenectady. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Joseph L. Wilkinson Memorial Library Station or to the Fish House Fish & Game Club, both in care of the funeral home.
Chester W. Holik
August 14, 2002
Mr. Chester W. Holik, 81 of Hollywood Road died Wednesday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Care Facility. Born on May 10, 1921 in Amsterdam he was the son of John and Helen Szczygiel Holik. He attended Amsterdam Schools and was a 1940 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Mr. Holik was a lifelong area resident.
He was a WW II Navy Veteran.
Mr. Holik at the one time owned and operated two grocery stores in Amsterdam. He later was employed by the General Electric Company in Schenectady until retiring.
He was a member of the Polish National Alliance; The Polish American Veterans; the John Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701; the Voiture 40/8; and The Bleecker Fish and Game Club.
Mr. Holik attended St. Ann's Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Doris M. Bishop Holik, whom he married on July 29, 1967; one son, John C. Holik and his wife Cindy of Broadalbin; two sisters, Agnes Kula and Constance Holik both of Amsterdam; one grandson, John C. Holik II of North Carolina and one granddaughter, Laurie Holik of Colorado; also nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place with the Reverend Christopher Smith officiating. A calling hour will be held one hour prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Holik's memory to the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility, 2nd Floor in care of the funeral chapel.
Lillian Anna Jacyna

Lillian Anna Jacyna, 85, of Tall Oaks Assisted Living in Reston, VA, formerly of Gordon Road in Rotterdam, NY. died on Sunday, August 11, 2002 at Hospice of Northern Virginia.
Born in Amsterdam on April 17, 1917, Lillian was the daughter of the late Joseph and Hannah (Satchel) DeGroff. She was a graduate in 1934 of Wilbur Lynch High School and worked at one time at Bigelow Sanford's of Amsterdam and had worked for the NYS Department of Taxation in Albany for 3 years. Mrs. Jacyna moved to Reston, VA in 1999. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Schonowe Volunteer Fire Department.
Lillian was predeceased by her husband of 56 years John S. Jacyna in 1994.
Survivors include a son; Dr. Garry M. Jacyna of Reston, VA: three grandchildren; Stefan, Mark and Shannon all of Reston, VA: a sister; Katherine Antoniewicz of Amsterdam and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning 8:15 am at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, followed at 9 am at St. John the Baptist Church, Franklin Street, Schenectady, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 pm at the Bond Funeral Home.
Interment in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, N.Y. Contributions may be made in Lillian's memory to the American Lung Association, 3 Winners Circle, Albany, NY 12205.
Karl H. Mabie
August 14, 2002
Karl H. Mabie, 55, of Fulton, NY formerly of Marshville, NY died unexpectedly Wednesday morning.
Born on April 9, 1947 in Amsterdam, NY the son of David and Mary Bowerman Mabie, he was a 1965 graduate of Canajoharie High School.
For over 30 years Karl worked as an over the road truck driver until becoming the Sidekit Division Northeast Regional Coordinator for Werner Enterprise's based out of Omaha, NB.
He was an avid Nascar, Winston Cup Division, and Nascar Modified Division race fan. He was also a Mapletown Subordinate, Pomona and NYS Grange member.
Survivors include his mother, Mary B. Mabie of Marshville, NY; 2 sons, Donald Mabie of Hamilton, NY and Kyle Mabie of Hagaman; a daughter, Lauren Mabie of Hagaman; 2 brothers, D. Wayne Mabie of Ballston Lake, NY and Robert Mabie of Gloversville; a sister, Renee Merolli of Douglas, MA; a grandson, Nathan Rose; a step grandson, Matthew Marshall; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at the Marshville Evangelical Church, Marshville with the Rev. Robert Dievendorf officiating. The interment will take place in the Ames Cemetery at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Marshville Evangelical Church or the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter. Arrangements are by the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie, NY 13317.
Kelly Ann Trzaskos

Miss Kelly Ann Trzaskos, 30, of Brimming Lake Road, Clermont, Florida and formerly of Ballston Spa, NY, died Wednesday at Florida Hospital Celebration Health in Celebration, Florida as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born in Amsterdam on May 2, 1972, she moved with her family to Ballston Spa as a child. She attended Ballston Spa Schools and was a 1990 graduate of Ballston Spa High School. She later attended Schenectady County Community College and was a graduate of their Hotel and Restaurant Management Program.
Miss Trzaskos moved to Florida in 1994. She was employed as a server by the Hollywood Brown Derby Restaurant at Disney MGM Studios in Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.
Miss Trzaskos is survived by her father, Daniel F. Trzaskos and his wife, Beth of Burnt Hills, NY; and her mother, Christine Adamowski Baccari and her husband, August of Schenectady; one brother, Daniel P. Trzaskos of Albany; one sister, Kimberly J. Trzaskos of Schenectady; her grandparents Frank and Jean Trzaskos of Amsterdam; her loving companion David Geisner of Clermont Florida; uncles, aunts and cousins. Miss Trzaskos was predeceased by her grandparents, John and Regina Adamowski.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place followed at 10:30 AM by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. John the Baptist. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours will be prior to the service on Monday from 8:00 until 10:00 AM at the Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made in Kelly's memory to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital or to the Ronald McDonald House both in care of the funeral chapel.
Samuel Crocetti
August 2, 2002
Samuel Crocetti, 83, of Watertown, died August 2, 2002 at the Alzheimer's Care Center in Wellesley. Son of the late Frank and Mary Crocitti.
He was the husband of Antoinette (Martin) for 52 years.
Born in the Calabria region of Italy in 1918, he immigrated to United States as a young boy and was raised in Amsterdam, NY.
He began a professional boxing career at age 18. He competed in 50 professional bouts and lost a controversial split decision to former champion Joey Archibald.
He served three and one half years in the Army Air Corp as a staff sergeant in World War II. He then began a 38 year career with the Boys Clubs of American, beginning as executive director of the Catskill NY Boys club for 14 years and going on to serve for 28 years as director of the Newton Boys Club. He also served as a scout for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Governor William Weld appointed him as a Mass. State Boxing Commissioner. The Newton/Needham Chamber of Commerce awarded him the Distinguished Achievement Award.
He is survived by a daughter, Eileen Lindberg and her husband Steven of Holiston; two sons, Francis Crocetti and his wife Cindy of Newton and Steven Crocetti and his wife Joyce of Ashland; his brother, Dominic Crocetti of Louisville, KY; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Niece Mary (William) Stachnik of Amsterdam. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Joseph.
Burial was in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.

Kathleen T. Paquette
September 28, 2002
Kathleen T. Paquette, 54, of Colonie, entered eternal life on Saturday, September 28, 2002 at Albany Memorial Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Amsterdam and lived in the Albany area since 1954.
Kathleen graduated form Hudson Valley Community College. She was employed by the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. for over 28 years in various positions, rising to senior customer service representative. During her working career, she was a member of the Albany UEA, a union steward of Local 97 and actively involved in Niagara Mohawk credit union .
Kathy was an avid golfer and also enjoyed bowling, cooking and entertaining family and friends.
Kathy will be remembered as a vibrant, caring soul with a touch of mischief who loved people and life.
She is the beloved daughter of Felix Paquette of Glenmont and the late Marian Gulnick Paquette. Kathy is the sister of Mary Ann Pollack and her husband, Bob of Ballston Lake and Thomas Paquette and his wife, Mary Beth and dear aunt to their daughter, Jaclyn of Halfmoon.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309 in memory of Kathleen T. Paquette.
Joseph M. Gorman
September 28, 2002
Joseph M. Gorman, age 68, beloved husband of Dolores D. Gorman, died Saturday, September 28, 2002 in Stamford Hospital in Stamford, CT.
Born in Amsterdam, NY, he was a resident of Darien for 27 years prior to moving to New Canaan a year ago.
Mr. Gorman was employed as an investment banker prior to his retirement.
He was a former member of the New York Athletic Club and an avid sports fan.
In addition to his wife Dolores, he is survived by a son, Joseph A. Gorman of Austin, TX; two daughters, Paula Gorman Harron of Darien and Jennifer Lynn Gorman of New Canaan; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Frank Gorman.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Monday, October 7, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. in St. John's Church in Amsterdam followed by interment in St. John's Cemetery.
Nancy Lynn Angell
September 29, 2002
Nancy Lynn Angell, 55, of Gloversville, who was a recent resident of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully at home on September 29, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born November 27, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Alexandrine "Connie" Angell of Gloversville and the late William R. Angell Jr. of Flint, Michigan.
Nancy graduated from Gloversville High School in 1964 and earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from Marcy State Hospital School of Nursing in 1967. She was employed at the Baptist Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Scotia. She was previously employed at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital and Lexington Center in Gloversville.
She is survived by a very special aunt, Eleanor "Lynn" Kindar of Amsterdam; a brother, William R. Angell III and his wife Carolyn of Camden, NY; two nieces, Deborah Collins and her husband Mark of Camden, NY, Kristine Contento-Angell and her husband Jason of Maroochydore, Australia; two nephews, William R. Angell IV and his wife Jennifer of Painted Post, NY and Thomas J. Angell of Phoenix, Arizona; as well as one great niece, Emily K. Collins of Camden, NY. Several cousins also survive Nancy.
Nancy is also survived by many caring friends who went to extreme lengths to make Nancy's last days happy and peaceful. Nancy's love of animals, especially cats and horses, was shared by many, especially Beverly Colby and Valerie Petrucelli, who were always there to help Nancy and her family. Sandy Green, Mai-Lis Day, Nancy Heath, Donna Berggren and Sue Tomlinson fulfilled Nancy's final wish to see and enjoy the ocean with a recent trip to Newport, Rhode Island.
A deeply religious person, Nancy's kindness and dedication to care for people went beyond her professional nursing duties, for she was compassionate and generous in her care of family members, most recently for her aunt, as well as six years caring for her terminally ill mother. Nancy's family extends special appreciation to her cousin, Katra Kindar and her husband Tom Tintle of Shelburne, Vermont, who spent many days caring for Nancy. Her family also conveys sincere gratitude to Liz Kindar for her steadfast support of Nancy and her family throughout this time.
A Memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Casimir's Church, 260 East Main Street, Amsterdam.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Nancy's memory to the SPCA, 1007 Route 5S, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery at the convenience of her family.
Funeral arrangements are by the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
Virginia M. Davis Bradsell
September 28, 2002
Virginia M. Davis Bradsell, 72, of Paris Road, Fort Plain, passed away Saturday morning at St. Johnsville Nursing Home in St. Johnsville, NY.
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts on February 26, 1930 a daughter of Bertrum C. and Helen H. Barth Davis. Mrs. Bradsell was raised in White Plains, NY and attended White Plains Schools. Mrs. Bradsell also lived in Valhalla, Hawthorne and Hopewell Junction, NY until moving to the Fort Plain area in 1993.
She was employed for many years as a school bus driver for the Pleasantville Central School District and Wappingers Falls Central Schools. She was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 456 and a member of the Fort Plain Senior Citizens and the Hopewell Junction Senior Center.
She was of the Methodist Faith.
Mrs. Bradsell married William Thomas Bradsell on March 28, 1948. He passed away on January 7 of this year.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Johnson of Sleepy Hollow, NY and Judith Cotton of Poughquag, NY; one brother, Robert C. Davis of New Hampshire; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Lenz and Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with the Rev. Nancy Ryan presiding.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday before the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial of cremains will take place Thursday following the service in Fort Plain Cemetery, Fort Plain, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Johnsville Nursing Home, 7 Timmerman Avenue, St. Johnsville, NY 13452.
