Elizabeth Sheridan, 95, formerly of the Stratton Apartments, Amsterdam, passed away Saturday afternoon at Resurrection Nursing Home, Castleton.
Born in Amsterdam on December 21, 1907, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Teresa Madden.
Mrs. Sheridan received her education at St. Mary's Institute, Amsterdam, and was employed as a secretary at Amsterdam Printing & Litho.
She was a former parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Amsterdam.
Her husband Clarence Sheridan passed away in 1971.
Mrs. Sheridan is survived by five grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by two sons, John Sheridan and Peter Sheridan; and a sister Rose Madden.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division St., where friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be a St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.

Lynne A. Minkler Healey

Lynne A. Minkler Healey, 54, of Broadalbin, died Sunday, April 13, 2003 at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility, Gloversville, following a long illness.
She is survived by her husband, Gregory Healey of Broadalbin; a daughter, Jenifer Healey of Daytona, FL; a son, James Healey of Broadalbin.
At Lynne's request funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main St., Broadalbin, NY 12025.
Charles A. Ginevan
April 10, 2003
Charles A. Ginevan of Gainesville died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 89.
Mr. Ginevan was born in Amsterdam, NY andmoved from Blue Point, N.Y. in 1989. He was an artist and photographer, and formerly owned a variety store in Sayville, N.Y. He was a member of Holy Faith Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes J. Ginevan of Gainesville; a daughter, Carol Kelly of East Setauket, N.Y.; a son, Charles A. Ginevan Jr. of Gainesville; sisters Mary Achcet and Margaret Petruccione both of Amsterdam, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Edmund S. Karwan

Mr. Edmund S. Karwan, 79, of Petoff Gardens, Gloversville died Thursday morning at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born in West Rutland, Vermont on May 7, 1924, he was the son of Stanley and Mary Sobol Karwan.
Mr. Karwan was a World War II Navy Veteran. He held the rank of Fireman First Class and served in the African Campaign. He later served in the Merchant Marines. He was at one time employed by the Standard Oil Company in Bayonne, New Jersey and subsequently worked for Mohasco and later for the New York State Thruway Authority, retiring in 1986.
Mr. Karwan was a member of St. Stanislaus Church. He was also a member of the Polish American Veterans.
He was married to Cecilia Blonkowski Karwan on August 31, 1946. She died on May 4, 1996.
Mr. Karwan is survived by his son, Richard E. Karwan and his wife, Anna, of Burlington, Massachusetts; one grandson, Nicholas Karwan of Burlington, Massachusetts; one sister, Eleanor Janowski of Crestwood, NY; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by four brothers, Stephan Karwan, Edward Karwan, Stanley Karwan and Lucian Karwan and one sister, Emily Tomascewski.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place followed at 12:00 noon by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Church.
Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Saturday from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
Sadie A. Bollart
May 8, 2003
Sadie A. Bollart, 93, formerly of Northern Blvd., Amsterdam, passed away Thursday morning at the James Squire Nursing Home in Syracuse.
Born in Amsterdam on March 29, 1910, she was the last surviving child of Jacob and Victoria Abucewicz Karchesky. Educated locally, she was employed by Mohasco and later as a seamstress for Chalmer's Knitting Mill before retiring in 1972.
Sadie was known for her exceptional sewing abilities and her crocheting.
She and her husband, Frank enjoyed their home on Northern Blvd. for many years until his death on September 3, 1999. They were married on September 29, 1935. She later moved to the Syracuse area to be near her daughter.
Sadie was a lifetime communicant of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church.
Her loving family includes her daughter, Irene and her husband, Arlington Morey of East Syracuse; her grandchildren, Kathy and her husband, Randy Eike of Lyons, Col., and Peter Morey of Alexandria, Va; her sister-in-law, Doris Karchesky of Amsterdam, and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are Monday at 8:15 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. at St. Casimir's Church. Father Stanley J. Swierzowski, celebrant.
Interment is in St. Casimir's Cemetery.
Calling hours are Sunday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to St. Casimir's Memorial Fund, 260 East Main Street or to a charity of one's choice.
Donald J. Westfall
May 8, 2003
Donald J. Westfall, 73, of Elman Street, Broadalbin, died Thursday morning at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam following a long illness.
He was born in Broadalbin on March 1, 1930 a son of Adam and Mabel Kissinger Westfall and attended local schools.
Mr. Westfall was a lifelong area resident.
He was employed at General Electric Co. in Schenectady and also at the former Hathaway Bakery in Fonda. Later, he was employed at the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany, retiring in April 1993, after 32 years of service.
Mr. Westfall was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Broadalbin United Methodist Church and at one time was associated with it's Sunday School Program.
Mr. Westfall was a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #8690 and the Cooties in Broadalbin. He also served as Quarter Master of District 3 for ten years. Mr. Westfall was a member of the Broadalbin Men's Bowling League.
He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to spend time with his family.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Michael A. Rehder, on February 26, 2003.
Survivors include his wife, the former Patricia Hoes Westfall, whom he married on September 4, 1955, a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Debra Westfall of Fonda; three daughters, Mary Lou Westfall of Amsterdam, Linda and James Thompson of Amsterdam, and Paul and Richard Rehder of Broadalbin; a brother, Harold Westfall of Broadalbin; a sister, Grace Hunter of Galway; five grandchildren, Stephanie Powers, Toni Husvar, Joseph Rehder, Amanda Pawlowski, and Matthew Westfall; a great granddaughter, Madison Husvar; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A military graveside service will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Gerald R.H. Solomon - Saratoga National Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Patricia A. Bush officiating.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., 38 West Main Street, Broadalbin.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Association, or to the National Kidney Foundation, both in care of the funeral home.

Elizabeth Nellis Stanley, 59, of Burke, Virginia., died May 7, 2003.
She was the beloved wife of James J. Stanley, stepmother to Jesse and Lockie Stanley, both of Virginia.
She is survived by her mother, Alberta Prall Nellis of Palatine Bridge; three sisters, Catherine Montilla of Clifton Park, NY, Nancy Showerman of Candor, NY, and Carol Preston of Manchester, Connecticut; two grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her father, Arnold.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 10, at noon at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, Virginia, 22151
Interment to follow at Fairfax Memorial Park, Fairfax, Virginia.
The Rev. John R. DeCaprio

The Rev. John R. DeCaprio, 78, entered into eternal life on Thursday, May 29, 2003, at the Teresian House in Albany.
Born on December 21, 1924, in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of the late Sisto and Maria (Fontanella) DeCaprio. He was valedictorian of the class of 1942 at St. Mary's Institute in Amsterdam. He had a great interest in classical music, concerts and opera. Fr. DeCaprio shared his talent as an artist, with his own produced Christmas Card.
The journey of priesthood began for Fr. DeCaprio at the Preparatory Seminary of St. Andrews and continued in the major Seminary of St. Bernard's both of Rochester, NY. Fr. DeCaprio was ordained on June 11, 1949, in Albany by the Most Reverend Bishop Edmund F. Gibbons. His first Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Amsterdam on June 12, 1949.
He served as a summer assistant at Sacred Heart in Stamford, NY, until the fall of 1949 when he became an assistant at St. Mary's Church. Frankfort. In 1952 he was appointed assistant pastor at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Schenectady, where he served until 1966. He also served as administrator at Sacred Heart, Gloversville, from 1966 to 1968. Fr. DeCaprio became pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Little Falls, NY, in February 1968. Following the retirement of Msgr. Anthony S. Spina, Fr. DeCaprio returned to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Schenectady, as pastor until 1979. In 1979 he was appointed Pastor of Corpus Christi Church in Ushers, NY, where he retired from in July 1994.
Fr. DeCaprio had special assignments during his years with the Diocese, including the auditor of the Diocesan Tribunal, member of the original Diocesan Liturgical Commission, head of the Department of Worship, Dean of Schenectady County. He was a weekly columnist on Liturgy for The Evangelist newspaper.
Fr. DeCaprio is survived by his two devoted sisters, Anne and Carmella (Molly) DeCaprio, both of Amsterdam; a devoted nephew, Nicholas S. Moreno of Albany; a devoted niece, Mrs. John J. (Kathleen A.) Sanvidge Jr. of Speigletown; one great-niece, Shannon K. Sanvidge of Troy; two great-nephews, John Choi Sanvidge and Matthew Yoo Sanvidge, both of Speigletown; and a grand-great-nephew, Jonathan Carter of Troy.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Amsterdam, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Most Reverend Howard J. Hubbard, DD, Bishop of Albany.
The Reception of the Body of Fr. DeCaprio will be held on Monday at 4:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Amsterdam.
Calling hours will be held at the church on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. A Parish Mass will follow at 7:00 p.m.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Fr. DeCaprio to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Rosalyn Robusto Murphy
May 31, 2003
Rosalyn Robusto Murphy, 87, formerly of Stewart Street and later the High Rise Apartments, passed away Saturday morning at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.
Born in Amsterdam on April 14, 1916, a daughter of Aniello and Michelena Pucci Robusto, she was educated in Amsterdam schools. She later was a graduate of the College of Saint Rose in Albany, and received her master's degree in education from the State University of New York in Albany. Mrs. Murphy taught Latin and English at the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School until she retired in 1964. She was proud of her teaching career, and maintained friendships with many former students through the years.
She was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, and most recently of St. Mary's Parish. Rosalyn was a longtime member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association.
Her beloved husband, J. Joseph Murphy, preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1989. Her loving family includes her sister, Mrs. Frank (Rita) Mucilli of Amsterdam; brothers, Jerry Robusto of Broadalbin, Alfred Robusto of Amsterdam and Richard Robusto of Las Vegas, Nev.; nieces, nephews and cousins survive.
It was Mrs. Murphy's request that the service be private at the convenience of the family. The Very Rev. James J. Gulley will officiate.
Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
There are no calling hours and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Food Pantry, c/o Catholic Family Services, 1 Kimball St., Amsterdam.

Charles L. Skinner Sr.
June 1, 2003
Charles L. Skinner Sr., 88, of Union Street, Fultonville, passed away Sunday afternoon at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, NY.
Born in Fultonville, NY on April 22, 1915 a son of William D. and Mary Elizabeth Hurley Skinner. He was a lifelong resident of Fultonville and was a 1934 graduate of the former Fultonville Union Free High School.
Mr. Skinner served with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a supply truck driver during World War II serving in the European Theatre mainly in England.
He was employed for 20 years for the Shell Oil Co. as a truck driver working in various places in the area. He later worked at Macek's Garage in Fultonville for 30 years before retiring in 1995.
He was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church in Fonda, NY. He was also a member of the Aetna Engine Co. in Fultonville.
He married Eleanor A,. Cerrato Skinner on November 23, 1946.
In addition to his wife survivors include, one son, Charles L. Skinner Jr. and his wife, Carol of Fultonville, NY; one brother, Harold O. Skinner of Oneonta, NY; one granddaughter, Sarah Skinner of Lebanon, New Hampshire; many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Jackson and Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY.
Interment will follow in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation Scholarship Fund, 427 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
