Edmund Roz, 86, of Spruce drive, passed away Sunday afternoon at the Leesburg Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Born is Amsterdam on February 2, 1917, a son of Michael and Sophia Kosinski Roz, he lived here most of his life before moving to Florida in 1988.
He was employed as a security officer for the State University of New York at Albany until he retired.
He was a communicant of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church in Hagaman,
His loving family includes his wife of fifty-seven years, Veronica Cinikas Roz; his daughter, Joyce and her husband Robert Wittemeyer of Burlington, VT; a granddaughter, Wendy Robert and four great grandchildren; nieces and nephews also survive.
Services and calling hours are private at the convenience of the family at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue. The Rev. Ronald Matulewicz, officiating.
Interment is in St. Casimir's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
Lila Sherman

Mrs. Lila Sherman, 89, of Perth Road, Galway, died Sunday at Wilkinson Health Care, after a long illness.
Mrs. Sherman was born in Broadalbin and lived her entire life in the area. She was a home care worker for several families in the Galway area.
Lila was a member of the Galway Home Bureau, and West Galway Grange.
She was of the Methodist faith.
Her husband, Raymond A. Sherman Sr. predeceased her in 1981.
Her survivors include four sons, Raymond A. Sherman Jr., of Broadalbin, Harold L. Sherman of Galway, Douglas E. Sherman of Galway, David C. Sherman of Galway; one daughter, Linda L. Jackowski of Fort Plain, NY; one sister, Elsie Jennings of Broadalbin; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to call at the Richard J. Ryan Funeral Home, Inc., Sacandaga Road, Galway Village on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The burial will be held at the East Galway Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Galway Volunteer Fire Department, or the Galway Volunteer Ambulance Service, Galway, NY 12074.
Stephen S. Tamsett
July 4, 2003
Stephen S. Tamsett, 79, of Lake City, Florida died at the V.A. Hospital in Gainesville, Florida on July 4, 2003.
Mr. Tamsett was born in Canajoharie, NY.
He was a truck driver and had previously resided in Alachua, Florida.
Mr. Tamsett served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII, he was a life member of the V.F. W. and AmVets of Orange Lake, Florida. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion of Lake City.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Genevieve Tamsett, Lake City, FL; two daughters, Susan Tamsett, Canajoharie and Mary Hall, Gainesville, FL; five sons, Robert Bautochka, Jonesville, FL, Michael Bautochka, Richmondville, NY, Richard Tamsett, Canajoharie, Stephen Tamsett III, St. Louis, MO, and Harry Tamsett, Tavares, FL; eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his children, David, Edward, Janet and Gary.
Arrangements were by the Williams-Thomas Funeral Home.
Irene Nellie Kobas

Irene Nellie Czelusniak Kobas, age 84 of Bedford, VA., passed away Saturday, July 12, 2003.
She was born October 31, 1918 in Amsterdam, a daughter of the late Paul Czelusniak and Martha Sokolowski Czelusniak.
She was a retired nurses aide and was a member of the St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, Hagaman, NY.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kobas and a sister, Pearl Nicholas.
She is survived by a daughter, Joanne Ossenfort, Indiana; a son, Joseph Kobas, Amsterdam, NY; three sisters, Martha Bozek, Amsterdam, Theresa Simons, Hagaman, Felicia Simons, Prescott Valley, AZ; three brothers, Paul Czelusniak, of Eden, NC, Stanley Czelusniak, Amsterdam, Joseph P. Czelusniak, Chesapeake; four grandchildren, Celesta Payne, of Goode; Mallanie Kobas, Michael Kobas, both of Amsterdam, Richard Ossenfort, Indiana; two great grandchildren. Ethan of Goode and Caleb of Amsterdam.
A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
Arrangements by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford is handling arrangements.
Ronald James Bornt
July 14, 2003
Mr. Ronald James Bornt, age 86, of Warren Road, Gloversville, died Monday, July 14, 2003 at Bassett Health Care, Cooperstown.
He was born August 5, 1916 in Gloversville, the son of Arthur and Sadie Billington Bornt. He was educated at the former Berkshire School. He was employed many years ago as a trucking contractor for Kingsboro Lumber Company. For most of his life he owned and operated R. J. Bornt Excavation until his retirement in 1996.
Mr. Bornt was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gloversville, St. Patrick's Masonic Lodge #4; and was a charter member of the Berkshire Firehouse.
He was married June 7, 1958 to Sally Jean Vaughn who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Rosalind Acquilla and her husband, Ralph, and Sandra Jackson and her husband Robert all of Gloversville; three step daughters, Linda 'Mikey" Krueger and her husband, Walter of Lester, NY, Judy White and her husband, Paul of Mayfield, and Sheryda Cooper and her husband, Robert of Gloversville five brothers, Arthur Bornt Jr., Richard Bornt, Joseph Bornt, John Bornt, and James Bornt, all of Gloversville; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Harold Bornt, and a sister, Bertha Thompson.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Inc., 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday.
Interment will take place at Broadalbin Mayfield Rural Cemetery, Broadalbin.
Memorial contributions may be made to Berkshire Volunteer Fire Department, Gloversville, or St. Patrick's Masonic Lodge, Johnstown.
Anna E. Korona
July 15, 2003
Miss Anna E. Korona, 99, died Tuesday morning at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility.
She was born on May 1, 1904 in Amsterdam and was the daughter of Michael and Agnes Mazur Korona. She attended local schools and later moved to New York City. She was a licensed beautician. She owned and operated her own beauty salon for many years. Upon retiring Miss Korona returned to the Amsterdam area where she resided with her nephew, Stanley M. Korona.
She was a member of Saint Stanislaus Church.
She loved gardening.
Miss Korona is survived by several neices, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, followed at 9:00 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Church.
Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Thursday afternoon from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
At the family's request in lieu of flowers donations may be made in Miss Korona's memory to the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility (1st floor).
James Bakus
July 19, 2003
Mr. James J. Bakus, 87, formerly of Park Street, Hagaman, died Saturday afternoon at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady. He had been a resident of Alterra/Clairbridge in Niskayuna for the past two years.
He was born Dec. 7, 1915 in Hagaman, a son of the late Leo and Julia Douvgalla Bakuzonis. He was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and the Teachers College of the State University of New York at Fredonia, where he received his bachelor's and master's degrees.
For over 35 years, he taught in the Schalmont School District before retiring.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Bakus was a member of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church in Hagaman.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 8:15 Tuesday morning at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Stephen's Church. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 Monday evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Alice Louise Potter
July 14, 2003
Alice Louise Potter, 83, died Monday, July 14, 2003 in Newport, NC.
Mrs. Potter was born November 12, 1919 in Johnstown, NY the daughter of the late Edward and Adeline Loveys.
She was a homemaker and is survived by her children, Betsy Webb of Florence, SC, Judith Jones of Newport, NC, Robert Smith of Raleigh, NC and stepson, Howie Potter of Troy, NY; and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Potter was a resident of Fort Plain, NY, Florence, SC, Sanford FL, and Newport, NC.
A private family memorial service will be held in Raleigh, NC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 3901 Computer Drive, Suite 110, Raleigh, NC 276009 or to the Arthritis Association, North Carolina Chapter, 3801 Wake Forest Road, Suite 115, Durham, NC 27703 or to the charity of one's choice.

Katherine Mary Robb
July 15, 2003
Katherine Mary Robb, age 87, a two and-a-half year resident of Amsterdam, N.Y., was called home to Heaven on Tuesday, July 15, 2003. She was a resident of Montgomery Meadows Nursing home where she passed very peacefully of natural causes.
Born in Albany, NY on May 27, 1916 she was a daughter of the late Caesar Theodore and Katherine Elizabeth (Schoring) Baldwin. She spent her childhood growing up in Albany and was a graduate of Albany High School, Class of 1934.
Her husband, Dale William Robb of Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, whom she married on April 9, 1937 in Albany , NY, preceded her to Heaven on September 26, 1978.
Katherine became a homemaker after her marriage and was a very generous and loving mother and did her best to always provide for her children's well-being and always making them her number one priority. Katherine lived with her son and daughter-in-law for over 20 years after her husband's death. Her son was in the Air Force and this enabled her to live in such beautiful locales as Hawaii, California, Montana and Florida. Katherine especially loved the beautiful islands of Hawaii.
She enjoyed reading, watching baseball and old movies on T.V., as well as going out to restaurants. She has a wonderful sense of humor. She loved all of God's creatures especially her Queenie and Sheena-Girl.
Her father preceded her in death in 1966; her mother in 1969; as well as her two sister, Clara (Russell) Dayton in 1981 and Loretto (George) Jabbour in 1982.
Katherine is survived by her daughters, Catherine Mae (Leonard) Guere, Amsterdam, N.Y.; and Joanne Beverly (Jerry) Meisner, Hatfiled, PA. She is also survived by her son, Dale Theodore, who later became her daughter Sabrina Marie Theodora, of Ocala, FL; as well as five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held October 11, 2003 in Jersey Shore, PA, and her cremains will be interred alongside her husband in the Jersey Shore Cemetery, Jersey Shore, PA on this date.
Memorials are suggested in her name to your local Humane Society or A.S.P.C.A.

Stanley E. Dylong
July 20, 2003
Mr. Stanley E. Dylong, 85, formerly of the Stratton Apartments died Sunday evening at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born on June 28, 1918 in Amsterdam he was the son of Joseph and Anna Janowski Dylong. He attended Amsterdam schools and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Dylong was a World War II Army Veteran.
He was employed as a painter for SUNY at Albany for over 20 years until retiring.
He was a member of the Church of Saint John the Baptist.
He was a member of the American Legion John J. Wyszomirski Post 701 and he was also a member of the Monsignor William A. Browne 4th Degree Assembly Knights of Columbus Council 209.
Mr. Dylong was very active in the Knights of Columbus especially the Bingo Committee and the Home Association.
Mr. Dylong was married to Pearl E. Wood Dylong on October 7, 1945. She died on May 20, 1998.
He is survived by a nephew, David Makacynas and his wife, Annette, of Tribes Hill; three nieces, Mary Ann Fitzgerald and her husband, John of Vails Mills, Joan Zurawel of Amsterdam and Annette Green; several great nephews and nieces; a great great nephew; and his companion, Marion Swider of Amsterdam.
Mr. Dylong was predeceased by his brother, Chester Dylong and his sister, Regina Makacynas.
Funeral services will be held 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place followed at 9:00 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of Saint John the Baptist.
Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Wednesday afternoon from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the evening at the funeral chapel.
The Knights of Columbus will conduct a service at 6:30 p.m. and the American Legion will conduct their service at 7:00 p.m.
Donations may be made in Mr. Dylong's memory to a charity of one's choice.
