Emerson S. Sheehan
August 30, 2003
Mr. Emerson S. Sheehan, 87 years old of Division Street, Amsterdam died Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital.
He was born on March 9, 1916 in Amsterdam, the son of Edward and Nettie Kaufman and Thomas Sheehan, and was a life long resident of Amsterdam.
Mr. Sheehan served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII in the European Theatre.
He was employed by the Process Sign Company in Amsterdam until his retirement.
Mr. Sheehan was one of the oldest members of the United Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam.
His first wife, the former Marie Unger, died in 1961. In 1967 he married the former Jean Boyer who survives. Also surviving his daughter, Susan Alibozek and her husband Frank of Amsterdam; NY; two granddaughters, Kalene and Stacey Alibozek of Amsterdam; four sisters, Alice Johnson of Platttsburgh, NY, Mary Gerdo of Westport, NY, Charlotte Nelson and Carol Tuchorski of Amsterdam, NY; two cousins, William Nelson of Amsterdam and Lucille Louer of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the United Presbyterian Church, 25 Church Street, Amsterdam, with The Rev. Dan Wheeler officiating.
Interment will be in Hagaman Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
Memorial contributions may be made to Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps or United Presbyterian Church Sunday School.

Pasqualina "Lee" Todd
September 1, 2003
Pasqualina "Lee" Todd 83 of Niskayuna and Deerfield Beach, Fla. died suddenly Monday in Broadalbin.
Mrs. Todd was born in New York City the daughter of the late Gaetano and Philomena D'Agostino Chiaro both born in Italy. She moved to Schenectady as a child and graduated from Nott Terrace High School. She was at one time employed at the General Electric Co., the Boston Store and owned the Old Fort Plaza in Fort Plain.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, and St. Ambrose in Florida, and a member of Council 201 Columbiettes and also a communicant of St. Helen's Church and a former member of the Altar Rosary Society.
She enjoyed tending to her garden, world travel and basking in the sun of her home in Florida.
She was a devoted wife of 54 years to James M. Todd until his death on January 21, 2001, they married on May 3, 1947.
She was a loving mother to Dennis J. Todd of Scotia and survived by a sister and brother Lucy Cleary of Syracuse and Frank Chiaro of Florida. She was predeceased by her son Paul J. Todd, a sister Louise Chiaro an brother Larry Chiaro.
Funeral service Friday morning 8:30 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady and 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Calling hours Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church Restoration Fund, 816 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.

James Gilpin Eagan
September 4, 2003
James Gilpin Eagan 61, of Hagaman Avenue, Hagaman, passed away Thursday evening at St. Mary's Hospital with his daughter at his side.
Born in Amsterdam on August 7, 1942 a son of James B. and Harriet Gilpin Eagan, he lived here all his life. For nearly forty years, he was employed as a supervisor for the New York State Dept. of Motor Vehicles in Albany, retiring in 1997.
An avid sportsman, Jim played softball for many years with local teams, bowled and was a member of the Muny Golf Course.
He was a member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church, and in his youth was an acolyte and a member of it's boy's choir.
His wife, the former Betty Vrooman, whom he married on August 12, 1967, predeceased him on Aug. 19, 1994.
His daughter, Tracy A. and her husband Gary Bottisti of Amsterdam survive as well as his newborn grandson, Lorenzo A. Bottisti and cousins.
The Office For The Burial Of The Dead will be read on Tuesday at 11:00 am at St. Ann's Episcopal Church, 37 Divison Street. The Rev. Christopher A. Smith, Rector, officiating.
Interment will take place in the Hagaman Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc. 171 Guy Park Ave.
Contributions may be made to the Foundation of St. Mary's Hospital, or the St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, both in care of the funeral home.

Jay Lynn Pickard Jr.
September 3, 2003
Mr. Jay Lynn Pickard Jr., of Honey Hill Road, Fort Plain, NY died Wednesday evening, September 3, 2003 at home following a short illness. He was 73 years of age.
He was born September 23, 1929 in Nelliston, NY, the son of J. Lynn and Mildred Russ Pickard. A 1946 graduate of Fort Plain High School, he also graduated from Alfred Agricultural and Technical School, and from Albany State Teachers College. He served in the Marine Corp. during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.
Jay was employed as a high school teacher at several schools in New York State, and retired from the Spackenkill School District near Rhinebeck, NY.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Freysbush where he was a former Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of the Canajoharie Fort Plain Elks #648, a life member of the Fort Plain VFW Post #3275, and the New York State Retired Teachers Association. He was also serving as Treasurer of the Freysbush Cemetery Association at the time of his death.
Jay is survived by his brother, John R. Pickard of Gloversville.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Freysbush Cemetery, town of Minden, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main Street, Gloversville, NY 12078 or the Mid-County Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 126, Canajoharie, NY 13317.

Edward J. Wiejaczka
September 2, 2003
Mr. Edward J. Wiejaczka, 82, of Pollyanna Drive, Titusville, Florida died Tuesday evening at Baltimore-Washington International Airport, Baltimore, Maryland after being stricken while traveling to New York.
He was born August 11, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York a son of the late John and Anna Tepper Wiejaczka. He was educated in Brooklyn and lived in Queens, NY and High Falls, NY before moving to Miami, Florida in 1973. He then moved to Titusville, Florida upon his retirement.
During World War II, Mr. Wiejaczka served in the Army with the 1st Infantry Division - "The Big Red One" as a Staff Sergeant.
He was a member of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church in Mims, Florida.
Mr. Wiejaczka was a Painter and Decorator for many years with Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida before retiring. He enjoyed traveling and singing.
He was married to Frances Emily Krolikiewicz. She died June 23, 1981.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Phillips Wiejaczka, Titusville, Florida and her children, Archibald Phillips, Harvest, Alabama and Mary Oritt, St. Leonard, Maryland; two daughters, Carol Quick, Ormond Beach, Florida and Barbara Ippolito, Perth, New York; two sons, John Wiejaczka, Wappingers Falls, NY and Ronald Wiejaczka, Accord, NY; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, John Paul, Stacey, Joshua, Tiffany, Jessica, Dylan and Ian; seven great grandchildren, Ashley, Ariana, Cole, Claudia, Ethan, Olivia and Isabella; one brother, Joseph Wiejaczka, Leesburg, Florida; three sisters, Jane Williamovich, Freehold, NJ, Lottie Smigelski, Shelby, Michigan and Genevieve Sulewski, Winter Springs, Florida; nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held 8:30 Monday morning at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 o'clock at St. Stanislaus Church, Cornell Street, immediately followed by Military Honors.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours are Sunday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Ronald McDonald House.

Dale T. Blair
September 4, 2003
Dale T. Blair, 41, of Old Ft. Plain Rd., Fort Plain died Early Thursday Morning at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam after a short illness.
Born on December 11, 1961 in Little Falls, NY he was the son of Mrs. Jean Blair. Dale was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Canajoharie High School class of 1980.
Dale was employed as a truck driver for Key-Mark in Fonda. He then went to work for himself on the Grantier Family Farm in Ames, NY until selling the farm.
Dale was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He also was an avid sports fan who enjoyed NASCAR and Football.
Survivors include his brother, Dean Blair and his wife Jinni of Sprakers; a niece, Kimberly Blair of Sprakers; an aunt, Fay Christman and her husband Howard of Palatine Bridge; and several cousins, aunts, uncles and many close friends.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Dale's home on 275 Old Fort Plain Rd., Fort Plain. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 or a charity of ones choice.
Arrangements are by the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie.

Michael John Petraitis
September 3, 2003
Michael John Petraitis, 54, of Utica died Wednesday at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of Sadye Gustas Petraitis of Menands and the late John Petraitis.
Michael received his Bachelors Degree from St. John's College and his graduate degree from the New York University. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a health and safety inspector for New York State Department of Labor.
Survivors in addition to his mother include three brothers, Richard Petraitis of Illinois, Brian Petraitis of Menands, and John Petraitis of Queens, NY; two sisters-in-law, Reba and Deborah Petraitis; a niece, Sarah Petraitis, and two nephews, Andrew and Benjamin Petraitis.
A memorial funeral Mass will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church, Menands, NY.
Contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 23 Computer Dr. East, Albany, NY 12205.
There are no calling hours.
Arrangements by the John H. Clinton Funeral Home, Washington Park and Third Street, Troy.

Madelyn B. Tallman
Madelyn B. Tallman passed away recently. She was born February 27, 1925 in Hunter, NY a daughter of Harry Bazaiko, born in Russia and Mary Phillips, born in the Ukraine.
Mrs. Tallman was educated in the Hudson Public School System, was a graduate of Albany Business College and a former employee of Homer Folks Hospital, Oneonta,NY.
She married Harry Tallman of Fort Plain, NY on October 24, 1959.
Surviving Madelyn are her husband of 44 years, Harry Tallman; daughter, Cynthia Tallman of Billerica, MA; sisters, Helen Vincent, Willard, NY and Sophie Salo and husband Michael of Davis, CA; brothers, Stephen Ritrosky of Union, NJ, Joseph Ritter, Baldwinsville, NY and Dr. Andrew Ritter and wife Greta of Hudson, NY; many nieces and nephews throughout the United States; many dear friends, especially her neighborhood in Billerica, MA; and the Congregation of St. Anne's Church.
Funeral services were held at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, in Billerica, MA.
A wake was also held at Bates and Anderson Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson, NY.
Burial was a Cedar Parks Cemetery, Hudson, NY. Officiating at interment was preformed by the Priest at St. Michael's Church in Hudson, NY.

Dorothy M. King
September 9, 2003
Dorothy M. King, 93, formerly of Fort Plain, NY died early Tuesday morning at the Loretto Height Nursing Home, Oswego, NY after a long illness.
Born on February 22, 1910 in the Town of Danube she was the daughter of Edwin and Lillian Tallman Mosher.
Mrs. King was a graduate of Fort Plain High School and was a lifelong area resident until moving to Oswego in 1995.
Mrs. King was employed as a bookkeeper and stenographer for the West End Brewing Co. in St. Johnsville, NY until her retirement.
She married Everett P. King on September 17, 1927. He died on November 10, 1994.
Survivors include two daughters, Joy K. Amatangelo and her husband Dominick of Fort Plain, and Anita DePenteau and her husband Ronald of Oswego, NY; a sister, Anna VanVorst of St. Johnsville; five grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie, NY with the Rev. Nancy Ryan officiating.
The Family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at a later date in the Fort Plain Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service or the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Rd., Sprakers, NY 12166.

Jessie E. Funk
September 7, 2003
Jessie E. Funk, 90, of Sandy Drive, formerly of First Avenue, Broadalbin, died Sunday evening at Montgomery Meadows after a long illness.
Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Lillian (Bills) Farr. A homemaker, Jessie was a member and former President of the Galway Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Her husband for 58 years, George E. Funk died in 1990.
Survivors include five children, Bonnie L. Hayes (Bernard) of Amsterdam, Joyce D. Bennett of West Haven, CN, Harold E. Funk (Barbara) of Gloversville, David L. Funk of Gloversville and Dennis C. Funk (Dawn) of Broadalbin; a sister, Mary Jay Ring of Georgia; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning 11:00 a.m. at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY, with a calling hour being held at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Interment in Parkview Cemetery, Schenectady, NY.
Contributions may be made to the Galway Volunteer Fire Department in her memory.
