Raymond J. Pelletier, 73, of Beacon Street, Gloversville, died Tuesday at home after being stricken.
Born in Schenectady, he was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Pelletier was employed as a specialist in Standards Instrumentation Services for General Electric for 42 years. He retired in 1985. He was appointed a member delegate to the National Conference of Standards Laboratories by GE.
He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, a member of the Rolling Green Pensioners, GE Retired Men and The Glenville B.C. He was also a donor to the American Red Cross and a World War II veterans of the U.S. Army serving in Europe.
Mr. Pelletier was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church of Scotia.
He was married to former Amsterdam resident Regina Ratazczak Pelletier.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Richard Pelletier of Scotia and Paul Pelletier of Lockheart, Fla.; a daughter, Theresa Pelletier of Vergennes, Vt.; five brothers, Ross Pelletier of Galway, William, Bruce and Thomas Pelletier of Schenectady and George Pelletier of Galway and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday at The White Funeral Home, 264 N. Ballston Ave., Route 50, Scotia, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Parish Center, 45 Mac Arthur Drive, Scotia.
Entombment will be at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church Building Fund.
Eva Wells
November 14, 1996
Mrs. Eva M. Wells, 66, of McKinley Road, Palatine, died Wednesday at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady after a long illness.
Born May 20, 1930 in Ira, Vt., she was the daughter of Clark Potter and Margaret Weatherby. She graduated from the West Rutland High School in 1948 and attended a two-year nursing school in Bennington, Vt.
She lived in this area since 1966. She previously lived in Dorset, Vt.
She married Merwyn Wells on Feb. 17, 1951.
Mrs. Wells was predeceased by a son, Ira H. Wells, on Feb. 14, 1984.
In addition to her husband, survivors include four daughters, Marlyn Leonard and Laura May Stella of Palatine Bridge; Rise Lapi of Fonda and April Ross of Franklin; two sons, M. Linus Wells of Fort Plain and Heath Wells of Amsterdam; 16 grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie, with Mr. Don Bixby officiating.
Burial will be in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Ann Winnie
November 13, 1996
Mrs. Ann E. Winnie, 58, of Route 112, Bleecker, died Wednesday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Born in Amsterdam, Mrs. Winnie was a graduate of Gloversville High School and a lifelong area resident.
She worked for various glove manufacturers in Fulton County, retiring from Rubin Glove Co. in 1994.
Mrs. Winnie was a member of Bleecker Community Church.
She married Harold F. Winnie on June 22, 1957.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, David H. Winnie of Bleecker; three daughters, Shirley Shibley of Salisbury Center, Charlene Winnie of Kingfisher, Okla., and Fay Winnie of Bleecker; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Bleecker Community Church.
Burial will be in Bleecker Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church, in care of Lorraine Bleyl, 209 Route 125, Gloversville, 12078.
Arrangements are by the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, Gloversville.
Beverly Faulknor
November 12, 1996
Beverly J. Faulknor, 73, of Route 161, Fultonville, died Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam after being stricken.
Born Sept. 17, 1923 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of Warren and Marion Pierce. Mrs. Faulknor was a life-long area resident. She lived in Canajoharie as a child and attended schools there.
She worked for many years for the Montgomery County Department of Social Services until her retirement.
Mrs. Faulknor was a member of the Glen Reformed Church; past matron of the Mohawk Valley Chapter 489 Order of the Eastern Star; past member of the Glen Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary; a former member of the Fonda-Fultonville Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She also volunteered at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital and was a member of the hospital auxiliary.
She married Dormer A. Faulknor on Aug. 4, 1956.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, William P. Mangan of Lewisville, N.C., two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be private and there will be no calling hours.
Burial will take place in Maple Avenue Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Glen Reformed Church, the Fonda-Fultonville Volunteer Ambulance Corps, or to charity.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville.
Joseph McQuade
November 7, 1996
Joseph McQuade, 77, of the Glendale Nursing Home, Glenville, formerly of Hamburg Street, Schenectady, died Nov. 7 after a long illness.
Born in Amsterdam, Mr. McQuade lived in Schenectady for 45 years.
For more than 30 years, he was yard foreman for Sifo Lumber Co., retiring in the early 1980s.
His wife, Joan Dickey McQuade, died in 1991.
Survivors include a son, J. Sean McQuade of Schenectady; three daughters, Sheila Dickinson of Florida, Karen Des Pres of Schoharie and Gail Gentile of Schenectady; three sisters, Fran Kaupelis of Amsterdam, Mary Kimball of Schenectady and Helen Best of Scotia; a brother, William McQuade of Amsterdam; and seven grandchildren.
A graveside service was conducted Monday at Memory's Garden, Colonie.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross of Northern New York, 1040 State St., Schenectady, 12307.
Arrangements were by the Griswold Funeral Home.
Mildred Everson
November 13, 1996
Mildred G. Everson, 71, of London Towers, Ilion, formerly of Mohawk, died Wednesday at the Little Falls Hospital.
She married Ernest W. Everson on Aug. 4, 1941 in Middleville. He died Jan. 14, 1979.
She was predeceased by a daughter Nancy Everson.
Survivors include 10 daughters, Myrtle Cramer of Palatine Bridge, Mary Ann Durfee of Mohawk, Janet Hyney of Ilion, Susan Owens of Utica, Donna Luft of Herkimer, Judy Beam of St. Johnsville, Margie Degristina of Mohawk, Patty Hight of Ilion, Joan Hiney of Starkville, and Pam Walters of Indiana; four sons, Bub Everson of Herkimer, Stanley and John Everson of Mohawk and Michael Everson of Canajoharie; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Tybor of Johnstown, and Doris Bowalak of Mohawk; eight brothers, Leland, Ronnie, Charlie, Darwin, George, Leslie, David, and Gordy Hazzard all from the Fort Plain area.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Graves - Applegate-Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk, with the pastor Joseph Phillips of Calvary Baptist, Frankfort, officiating.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home..
Burial will be in the spring in Mountview Memorial Gardens, Little Falls.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Rev. Harold Colburn
November 13, 1996
The Rev. Harold T. Colburn, 82, of Guilderland, died Wednesday at the Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland.
He was born in Delmar and graduated from the Vincentian Institute in Albany, Holy Cross College in Worchester, Mass., and Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md., before being ordained in 1940.
The Rev. Colburn served as an assistant pastor at St. James Church in Albany, St. Mary of the Lake in Lakewood, N.J., St. Mary's in Little Falls, St. Teresa of Avila in Albany, St. Mary's in Glens Falls, Our Lady of Victory in Troy, St. Peter's/St. Paul's in Frankfort, St. Ann's in Albany, and St. Mary's in Amsterdam, where he also served as administrator. He then served as pastor at Sacred Heart Church in Margaretville, St. Vincent dePaul in Cobleskill and St. Patrick's in Ravena. He retired in 1979, and during his retirement assisted at Christ the King Church in Guilderland, and served as chaplain at the Cobb Memorial School in Altamont.
The Rev. Colburn was the son of the late John N. Colburn and Mary Savard Colburn.
He is survived by two sisters in law, Catherine S. Colburn and Louise K. Colburn, both of Albany; a nephew, Joseph C. Colburn of Vooheesville; a niece Mary L. Colburn of Albany; great-nieces Stephanie C. Brumley of Delmar and Rachel K. Colburn of Albany; and his great nephew Joseph C. Colburn Jr. of North Carolina.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Church, Sumter Avenue, Guilderland, with the Most Rev. Howard J. Hubbard, Bishop of Albany, officiating. The Reception of the Body will be celebrated at the church at 4 p.m. today and evening prayer will be at 7:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
Arrangements are by the Hans Funeral Home, Albany.
Barbara Smith
November 14, 1996
Barbara A. "Bobby" Smith, 65, of South Wescott Road, Rotterdam, died Thursday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a long illness.
Born Oct. 22, 1931 in Ticonderoga, she was the daughter of Harley and Clara Dornburg Belfance, she moved to Rotterdam at 9 years of age and attended and graduated from Draper High School.
Mrs. Smith attended St. Madeleine Sophie Church in Guilderland and most recently a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Rotterdam.
She was a housewife and homemaker.
She married Harry R. Smith on Nov. 16, 1957.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Mark J. Smith of Esperance, a daughter, Teri Lockwood of Howes Cave and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike, Guilderland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Fort Avenue, Rotterdam. Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Guilderland chapel of the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2330 Watt St., Crosstown Plaza, Schenectady, 12303.
Leon Bowen
November 12, 1996
Leon R. Bowen, 69, of Montgomery Street, Canajoharie, died Tuesday at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Merry Hill, N.C., Mr. Bowen was valedictorian of the Class of 1945 at Colerain High School in North Carolina.
From 1945 to 1968, he served with the U.S. Marine Corps.
During his military career, he served during World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Later Mr. Bowen was a supervisor for Nabisco Brand Foods, retiring in 1982.
He married Barbara Geddes Bower on Oct. 16, 1953.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Deborah Bowen of Johnstown; a son, James Brett Bowen of Seattle; two sisters, Peggie Walker of North Carolina and Belle Castello of Georgia; and five grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours.
Cremation will be in Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dialysis Unit at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Arrangements are by the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Johnstown.
Halsey Eldredge
A service will be conducted at noon Wednesday for Halsey A. Eldredge at the Lappeus Funeral Home, 32 Park St.
