Mark Ross MacVean, 51, of Gorski Street passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008 at his home following a long illness. He was born in Amsterdam on February 5, 1957 a son of the late H. Ross and Ruth (Dickens) MacVean.
Mark was a life resident of the area and was a 1975 graduate of Gloversville High School. His passions in life included music, fishing and Ducati Bike Racing. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.
His loving family includes his two sons, Marc Ross and Zachary Michael, two sisters, Jane (Richard) Tourville and Laurie Dyer, and three step-sons, Eric, Jared and Joshua Cheney. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents, Mark was predeceased by his sister, Judy MacVean.
Funeral Services will be at 4:00pm on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the United Methodist Church, Golf Course Road, Amsterdam with Pastor Greg DeSalvatore, officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 3:00 to 4:00pm at the church prior to services. Contributions in Mark's memory may be made to Lifeworks of Montgomery County in c/o First Niagara Bank, 138 N. Comrie Ave., Johnstown, NY 12095.
Antoinette Van Wie
Born in Amsterdam, New York on Aug. 14, 1944

Antoinette Auriemma Van Wie, 63, of State Highway 30 S., passed away suddenly Wednesday morning at her home.
Born in Amsterdam on August 14, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Jeanette Casagrandi Auriemma. A 1962 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Antoinette lived here her entire life. For more than the past twenty five years, she was employed by Dr. Hilbert Ziskin and more recently Dr. Michael Rosenberg as a billing clerk. Antoinette was most happy when she was at home with her family, carrying on the beautiful Sunday Italian tradition of dinner together. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
On October 8, 1966 she was united in marriage to Joseph W. Van Wie. He predeceased her on November 21, 2006. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she also lost her brothers Alfred and Peter Auriemma and her dear nephew Brian Gibson.
Her loving family includes her children; Joseph P. Van Wie, Kim and her husband Joseph Kelly and Sherri Van Wie and her friend Steve Burrall; her three special grandchildren; Joshua, Michael and Briana Kelly all of Amsterdam; her sisters; Marion Bienick, Elizabeth Guadagno and Rosemarie Auriemma all of Amsterdam; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and special pet Kodi.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:15 am at St. Mary's Church, East Main Street. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. At Antoinette's request, calling hours are private. Contributions may be made in her name to the Montgomery County SPCA in care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, to whom her family has entrusted her arrangements.
Isabelle S. Hayes
Born in Amsterdam, New York on Feb. 2, 1913

Isabelle S. Hayes, formerly of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 2, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital.
A lifelong area resident, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Filomena Jankunas Sargalis. She attended schools in Amsterdam and later attended Oneonta Teachers College. Mrs. Hayes was employed as an elementary teacher for the Greater Amsterdam School District for many years. She was a member of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church.
Mrs. Hayes was predeceased by her husband and by her siblings, Peter and his wife Charlotte Sargalis, MaryAnn Hartley, Genevieve Sargalis and Ida Boice. Survivors include many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass which will be offered on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 11:00a.m. at St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. David Mickiewicz as celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 206 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Henrietta Prall
Born in Sprakers, New York on Nov. 3, 1937

Henrietta Prall, 70, of Argersinger Road passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 30, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. She was born in Sprakers on November 3, 1937 a daughter of the late Henry and Kathleen (O'Connor) Williams, Sr.
Henrietta was a life resident of the area and attended Randall schools. She was also a member of the Randall Christian Church. She married Leonard Prall in Fultonville on September 20, 1986. Henrietta was very involved in her community. She was the Chairwoman of Community Charities for several years, which, includes her work with the Town-Wide Annual Sale, and volunteering at the Church and several other community events. She was also involved with the Demolay Youth Organization for a period of time.
In addition to her parents, Henrietta, was predeceased by her daughter, Dawn Marie (Bowley) Leamon on January 3, 2006, and a brother, Henry Williams, Jr.
Her loving family includes her husband of 21 years, Leonard "Lenny" Prall of Randall, her grandsons, Ken Bowley of Amsterdam and Jared Leamon of Statesville, NC, her siblings, Norma Venette of Heuvelton, Pauline Frederick of Fultonville, Kristy (Mike) Flansburg of Gloversville, Doug (Hope) Williams of Fultonville, Albert (Frances) Williams of Fultonville, David (Sue) Williams of Johnstown, Paul (Sylvia) Williams of Esperance, and Jim (Jean) Williams of Fonda, and her step-children, Alan Prall of Rural Grove and Tiffany Prall of Gloversville. Several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Randall Christian Church, with Pastor Eric Handel, officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00PM at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY. Contributions in Henrietta's memory may be made to the Randall Christian Church, Route 5s, Fultonville, NY 12072
Anella D'Ambrosio

Mrs. Anella D'Ambrosio, 85, formerly of Edison Senior Apartments, Schenectady, NY. passed away peacefully Friday morning May 30, 2008 at Mt. Loretto Nursing Home in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on January 14, 1923 a daughter of Jesu and Josephine Greco Anastasia. She lived in Amsterdam most of her life and attended local schools.
Mrs. Dambrosio was employed by Fownes Glove Co. in Amsterdam for many years. She moved to Schenectady in 1946. She was a Communicant of St. Helen's Roman Catholic Church in Schenectady and also attended St. Michael the Archangel Church in Amsterdam. She moved to Satellite Beach, Florida and lived there from 1971 to 1985. She later moved back to Schenectady in 1985. Anella enjoyed being with her family and sending her children on shopping trips for bargains. She will be greatly missed by all.
She married John A. D'Ambrosio on February 15, 1942. He died on September 15, 1974. She is survived by two sons, Clement "Butch" D'Ambrosio of Schenectady and Michael D. D'Ambrosio(Lisa) of Schenectady, NY. One daughter, Maria J. Johnson of Ballston Spa, NY. Two sisters, Rose Martuscello of Amsterdam and Lena Robusto of Amsterdam. Nine Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins also survive. She was predeceased by two brothers, Vito Anastasia and Aniello Anastasia. A sister, Carmella Pereicich and a daughter- in-law, Janet Haley D'Ambrosio in 1996.
Funeral services will be held on Monday June 2, 2008 at 10:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove St., Amsterdam with Rev. Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday morning from 9:00-10:00AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to EWTN Broadcasting, 5817 Old Leeds Rd., Irondale, Alabama 35210.
