Mildred M. Doyle
Born in Little Falls, New York on Jan. 18, 1927
At Rest Sep. 26, 2008 and resided in St. Johnsville, NY.

Mrs. Mildred M. Doyle, age 81, of St. Johnsville Nursing Home passed peacefully from this life on Friday, September 26, 2008, after a long illness.

She was born on January 18, 1927 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Carlo and Josephine Servidio Lisco. She lived for many years in Nelliston attending Fort Plain Central School.

She left New York to travel. She was married to John Robert Franks on January 29, 1949 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. They lived in Michigan, Rhode Island, and Florida before settling in Richmond, Virginia upon her husband's retirement from the U.S. Navy. Mr. Franks predeceased her on January 23, 1967. Mildred was employed as an office manager at INA Insurance in Richmond. She was remarried on June 3, 1969 to Eugene Doyle who predeceased her on June 21, 1996. Mildred worked as a volunteer at the Little Sisters of the Poor for many years, and volunteered for many church events. She was of the Protestant faith.

Mrs. Doyle was also predeceased by two brothers, Frank Lisco of Fort Plain and Leonard Lisco of Richmond, VA.

In April of 1998 she returned to New York, living with her nephew and niece, Michael and Diane Boslet and family.

Survivors include two sisters, Theresa Boslet of Nelliston and Caroline Waghorn of Herkimer; two brothers, Nicholas Lisco of Schenectady and Joseph Lisco of Fort Plain; and many nieces, nephews.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.

Giovanni L. Carbone
Born in Alvignanello, Caserta, Italy on Dec. 14, 1937

Giovanni "John" L. Carbone, 70, of Henrietta St., passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning September 21, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born in Alvignanello, Caserta, Italy on December 14, 1937. He was the son of Filippo and Rosaria Izzo Carbone. He attended school in Italy and was a graduate of Telese High School. Mr. Carbone served as a sergeant in the Italian Armed Forces before coming to the United States and Amsterdam, NY in 1963. He worked for over 37 years at Adirondack Knitting Mill in Amsterdam retiring in 1996.
He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy and the Port Jackson Bocce Club. John enjoyed working in the garden and around his home. He enjoyed being with his family, especially his wife, children and beloved grandchildren.
He married Maria Antoinette Celella Carbone on June 6, 1965. In addition to his loving wife survivor's include three sons, Philip J. Carbone (Kathy) of Amsterdam, Carmen M. Carbone (Damaris) of Tribes Hill, NY and Anthony Carbone (Kristen) of Amsterdam. Three sisters, Rosa DiSandro of Amsterdam, Angie DiMatteo (Richard) of Amsterdam and Philomena Iorio of Amsterdam. Seven grandchildren, Michael, Christopher and Nicolas Carbone of Amsterdam, Gianna and Caris Carbone of Tribes Hill, John and Santino Carbone of Amsterdam. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. John was preceded in death by his parents Filippo and Rosaria Carbone.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday September 25, 2008 at 10:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove St. Amsterdam with Father Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday September 24, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 421 New Karner Rd., Suite 6, Albany, NY 12205.

Michael E. Carbonelli
Born in Amsterdam, New York on Nov. 5, 1936

Michael E. Carbonelli, 71, of Linda Drive, Hagaman, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Amsterdam on November 5, 1936 a son of the late Edward and Mildred Giaquinto Carbonelli.

Michael was a life resident of the area and attended Amsterdam schools. He served his country during the Korean War era in the US ARMY. After his discharge in 1956, Michael went to work as a truck driver for Boss-Linco Trucking in Amsterdam and then retired from Preston Trucking in Schenectaday in 1992.

Michael had a passion for model railroad trains and model airplanes. He spent hours building and flying the planes as a hobby with the former "Lazy 8 Club". In recent years, Michael enjoyed spending time with his grandson, David. He will be sadly missed by all.

His loving family includes his wife, the former Barbara Kubas of Hagaman, his son, Michael A. Carbonelli of Hagaman, his daughter, Bonnie (David) Puglisi of Hagaman, his grandson, David Puglisi, Jr. of Hagaman, his brothers, Edward Carbonelli of Saratoga Springs and Robert Carbonelli of Albany, his sisters, Delia Lanzi of Florida and Marla Ross of Amsterdam, and his step-daughters, Penny Lynn Ferone of Queens and Harley Ray Wallin of Monticello. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of his family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.

Virginia F. Slezak

Virginia F. Slezak, formerly of State Hwy 30 N, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Wednesday evening September 17, 2008 at Mt. Loretto Nursing Home where she has resided for over 4 years.
Born in Hagaman, NY on January 14, 1924 a daughter of John and Marcella Popiel Bilinski. She was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. She worked for a time at the General Electric Co. in Schenectady in the radio transmitter department during the early part of World War II. During the War Virginia served in the U.S. Navy with the U.S. Navy WAVES (Women Accepted For Volunteer Emergency Service). After the war she was employed for 20 years as a clerk for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance retiring from there in 1989. She was a communicant and faithful member of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, Hagaman, NY. Virginia was known for being a very sweet and kind person.
She is survived by one son, William N. "Bill" Slezak of Hagaman, NY. One brother, Steve Bilins of Ft. Johnson. One sister, Stephanie Boguzes of Amsterdam. One brother in law, Chester Slezak (Abbie) and two sisters in law, Winifred Petroski (Zygmund) and Polly Slezak all of Amsterdam. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Virginia was predeceased by her daughter Sandra G. Slezak in 1970. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Eugene Bilinski and three sisters, Bernice Jackson, Mildred Baker and Winifred Frieman.
Funeral services will be held on Monday September 22, 2008 at 9:00A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00A.M. at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, Pawling St., Hagaman, NY with Fr. Martin DeRose as celebrant. . Interment will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Hagaman, NY. The family will receive relatives and friend s on Sunday September 21, 2008 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, Pawling St., Hagaman, NY 12086 or to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, Manny Crs. Rd., Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Edna Milonovich
Born in Troy, New York on Oct. 4, 1918

Edna Milonovich, 89, formerly of Park Hill Adult Home passed away Thursday, September 18, 2008 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam. She was born in Troy, NY October 4, 1918 a daughter of the late William and Lula Miller Wilson.

Edna grew up in the Troy area and was a graduate of the former St. Jean's Grammar School in South Troy. She answered her Lord's call and entered the convent of St. Joseph on September 8, 1936. During this time Edna attended the College of Saint Rose and obtained her Bachelor of Arts. She went on to teach school while serving as a Sister of St. Joseph's until her departure from the convent in 1968.

At this time, Edna went on to answer another calling in her life and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She practiced as an L.P.N. for a number of years at Mount Loretto Nursing Home in Amsterdam and for Patient Care Co. in Albany as a private duty nurse until her retirement in 1987. Edna married William Fralick in 1975, he predeceased her in 1987. She then married Leo S. Milonovich on July 7, 1989, who predeceased her on September 21, 2003.

Her loving family includes her sister-in-law; Margaret Miller of Wappinger Falls, two nephews; William Miller of Wappinger Falls and Troy (Tonya) Miller of Stuart, FL, and her step-children; Robert, Ronald and Michael Milonovich, Daniel Miller and Patricia Naujeck. Edna was predeceased by her stepdaughter Evelyn Pearo.

Funeral services will be held 8:45am Monday, September 22, 2008, at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30am at St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church with Fr. David Mickiewicz as celebrant. There will be no calling period. Interment with the Catholic Rite of Committal will follow in the parish cemetery. Contributions in Edna's memory may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, Manny Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Jane F. Moore
Born in Amsterdam, New York on May 5, 1921

Jane F. Moore, 87, of Crescent Avenue, wife of William E. Moore, Esq. passed away Saturday morning at St. Mary's Hospital.

Born on May 5, 1921 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Arthur K. and Julia Hughes Faulds.
She graduated from the Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Class of 1938. Following high school, she attended Russell Sage College and graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree. Later she studied on an extension from Cobleskill State College and received a Master's degree.
In 1958 she commenced teaching as a classroom educator. From this position she was promoted to specializing as a remedial reading teacher, a position she retained until her retirement in 1981, ending her career as a teacher that spanned over twenty three years.
Following her retirement, she pursued her love of bridge playing with a local group of friends. In addition she enjoyed reading, often two full novels a week. She actively participated through the Amsterdam Library of the Literacy Program.
She is survived by her husband of sixty five years; her son Donald and his wife Christine Moore of Clifton Park, daughter Kathleen and her husband Raymond Lucynski of Amsterdam; five grandchildren; Katie, Kara Beth, Daniel, Sarah and Julie; three great grandchildren; Jacob, Brianna and Jude.

A service to celebrate her life will take place on Saturday, Sept. 20th at 2:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. The Rev. Greg DeSalvatore, presiding. Relatives and friends are invited and may call beginning at 1:00 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jane's memory to the Montgomery County SPCA in care of the funeral home office.
