Mr. Dormer A. Faulknor, 85, of Fultonville, NY, passed away Tuesday February 3rd, 2009 at the Mt. Loretto Nursing Home in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on April 27, 1923 a son of Leslie and Nellie Faulknor. He was a resident of the Fultonville area and attended Town of Glen schools. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during World War II as a Tech 4 in the European-African and Middle Eastern Theatres.
Mr. Faulknor was employed for over 37 years at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna as a Glass Cutter retiring in the 1980's. He was a member of the Glen Reformed Church and the Fultonville Masonic Lodge # 531 F & AM. Dormer was a member of the Town of Glen Volunteer Fire Department and was also a member of the Boy Scouts for many years.
He married Beverly Faulknor who passed away in 1996. He is survived by many relatives and friends. Mr. Faulknor was preceded in death by a brother Robert Faulknor.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 7th, 2009 at 11:00A.M. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville, NY with Rev. Chris DeGraaf presiding. A Calling Hour will begin at 10:00A.M. on Saturday where the Masonic Lodge #531 F & AM will conduct a service. The calling period will continue until 11:00A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Maple Ave Cemetery, Fultonville, NY in the spring. Full military honors also will be given on Saturday following the funeral service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fultonville Masonic Lodge #531 F & AM.
John W. Hewitt, Jr.

John W. Hewitt Jr., 64, of Fairmont Avenue, Amsterdam, died peacefully February 3, 2009 at home following a long illness. Born in Amsterdam, he was the son of John W. Hewitt Sr. and the late Shirley Eglintine.
A lifelong area resident, John attended the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and was a 1964 graduate. He was the proprietor of Perth Crafts and Flea Market until the onset of his illness. In the 80's he owned Adirondack Seafood in Schenectady and worked as a cook for area restaurants.
John enjoyed cooking, antiques, coins and classic cars. Above all he loved his family, and adored his only grandson. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
His loving family includes his father, John W. Hewitt Sr. of Scotia; his wife of over 38 years, the former Kathleen Ledermiller; one daughter, Tara Talarico of Galway; his grandson, Mason Talarico; his siblings, Robert Hewitt and his wife Susan of Scotia, Christine Watson of Schenectady, Mark Hewitt of Perth, and Barbara Bethune of Schenectady; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 7 o'clock at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Relatives and friends are invited and may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Montgomery County S.P.C.A.
Franklin E. "Bucky" Nelson

Mr. Franklin E. "Bucky" Nelson, 80, of Stone Arabia Road, Fort Plain, died unexpectedly, peacefully Sunday morning at home.
Born on January 25, 1929 in Fort Plain, he was the son of the late William and Cora Hoyer Nelson. He was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Fort Plain High School.
Bucky had many jobs and hobbies through the years. He was a truck driver, a dairy farmer and worked as a canal operator for the NYS Canal Corporation in Fort Plain. He was an avid motorcyclist and a golf enthusiast. Above all he loved his family dearly, and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Ruth McClellan, Donald and William Nelson.
His loving family includes his wife of over 59 years, the former Betty Christman whom he married on September 24, 1949; two daughters, Sandra Eckler and her husband John and Cindy Grimm and her husband John; two grandchildren, John J. Eckler and Mathew Grimm; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 7 o'clock at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service beginning at 5. Interment will take place at a later date in the Fort Plain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Plain Volunteer Fire Department or to Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service.
Vincent Patrick

Vincent Patrick 84, of Scenic Road, Hagaman, passed away suddenly Friday morning at his home as the result of a fire.
Born in Amsterdam on June 19, 1924, he was the youngest child of Joseph and Mary Karutis Patrick. Educated locally, he resided here all of his life. He worked for the carpets mills as a weaver and later for Fiber Glass Industries. Vin retired in 1980 after a twenty year career with the General Electric Company in Schenectady, where he worked as a cylindrical grinder. In his youth, he was an avid tennis player and was awarded the Amsterdam Youth Division title at one time. He also loved to fish, and spend time in the Ausable Forks area. Vin was also a dog lover and an avid reader. He served as a sergeant in the US Air Force's 112th Division and was honorably discharged in 1948. He was a proud member of the former American Lithuanian Club for fifty years, serving as it's president at one time.
On November 19, 1955, he was united in marriage to the former Rose Holubetz. She predeceased him in 1991. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Edward Patrick.
He leaves his son, Thomas L. and his wife Jami Patrick; a grandson, Ben Patrick, all of Perth; a brother; Joseph Patrick of Cazenovia; sisters; Agnes Rokit and Adele Lennon both of Amsterdam; and nieces and nephews and cousins.
A service to celebrate his life will take place Tuesday at 10:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Interment will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA in care of the funeral home office.
Benjamin E. Gogis

Town of Florida - Benjamin E. Gogis, 88, of Pattersonville Road passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. He was born in Cosmopolis, WA April 4, 1920 a son of the late Michael and Anna Elekaitis Gogis.
Benjamin was a life resident of the area and attended school at Millers Corners School, a one room schoolhouse in the Town of Florida. He grew up on his family's farm which was located on Gogus Road and worked on the farm until the age of 21.
Benjamin then worked for Nadler Bros. Dairy, Mohasco Industries, and for General Electric Company in Schenectady, before retiring in 1985. He was of Roman Catholic faith and was a parishioner of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry and spending time with family and friends.
His loving family includes his wife of over 52 years, Gladys Herrick Gogis of Pattersonville, whom he married July 1, 1956, his daughters, Rebecca (David) Shanley of Amsterdam, and Cynthia (James) Brockman of Gansevoort, his sons, Michael (Suanne) Gogis of Pattersonville, and Peter (Vicki) Gogis of Pattersonville, and his grandchildren, Shaun Shafer, Amanda, Matthew, Erika and Krista Gogis, and Emily and Sarah Brockman. Three generations of nieces and nephews and several cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents, Benjamin was predeceased by an infant brother, Kastantas Gogis and three sisters, Mary Clarke, Veronica Rogers and Della Pisarski.
Prayer services will be at 8:30AM on Monday, February 2, 2009 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY with a Funeral Mass to follow at 9:30AM at St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church, East Main Street, Amsterdam with Fr. David Mickiewicz as celebrant.
Interment will be at a later date in Woestina Cemetery in Rotterdam Junction. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday afternoon from 1:30 to 4:00PM at the funeral home. Carl H. Tiberio

Mr. Carl H. "Carlos" Tiberio, 74, of East Grand Street, Palatine Bridge, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illness. Born on August 17, 1934 in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Carl and Mary Tiberio.
A lifelong area resident, Carl was a graduate of Canajoharie High School. He was employed for over 25 years for Amsterdam Printing and Litho Company as a printer. He was also a member of the Graphic Communications Conference of The International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union, Local 259.
Carl enjoyed being a member of the VFW Earl Stock Memorial Post #3275 through the Men's Auxiliary, where he served as the first President. He also served proudly on the Memorial Squad and was very active in supporting the Post through various functions. Carl was also a member of the American Legion Post #31 in Little Falls, and the Canajoharie Moose. He will be remembered as a man of honor and was a true friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, the former Thelma Olmstead; and a brother, Bob Tiberio.
His loving family includes; his children, Brian (Michele) Tiberio of Palatine Bridge, Karla (Jeffrey) Hinz of Littleton, CO, and Kim (Thomas) Jorgenson of Cicero, NY; five grandchildren, Michael, Aric, Gunther, Michael and Eric; a brother, Joseph (Lenore) Tiberio of Orange City, FL; his family of the VFW of Fort Plain; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A prayer service will be conducted on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 10 o'clock at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 o'clock at St. Peter's & Paul's Roman Catholic Church with Pastor William Gaffigan as celebrant. Interment will take place in the spring in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 4 until 7 Sunday evening at the funeral home. The VFW will meet at 6pm at the funeral home to honor Carl. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the VFW Memorial Squad.
