Mr. Severino R. "Rolando" Forte, 92, of Division Street, Amsterdam, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 19, 2011 with his loving family at his side.
He was born in San Jose de las Lajas, Cuba on January 8, 1919, the son of the late Antonio and Guillermina Forte. He was raised in Cuba and worked for the Goodyear Tire Co. for 17 years. He came to the United States in 1962, settling in Amsterdam in 1964. He worked for the General Electric Company in Schenectady before retiring in 1986. Mr. Forte was well known for the bright smile he always wore on his face. An avid Yankees fan, he also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
Mr. Forte married Elda Montalvo Forte on January 30, 1947.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by one son, Louis R. Forte and his wife Sylvia of Corpus Christi, TX, a cherished grandson, Timothy J. Forte and his wife Kelly of Amsterdam, and his great-granddaughters, Alexandra and Victoria Forte, all of Amsterdam. Nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Aleida Forte Fascenda of Cuba and Sila Baez of Miami, Florida.
He was of the Christian Faith and a member of the Free Masons.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday evening, September 22, 2011 at 7:00p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. Private Interment will be in St. Michael, the Archangel Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Cancer Research Hospital c/o the funeral home office.

Mrs. Prudence P. Frostbutter, 79, of Wolf Hollow Road, Scotia, NY died peacefully on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital In Albany, NY.
A lifelong area resident, Prue was born on January 17, 1932 the daughter of Kostanty and Aniela Vicunas Sawicki in Amsterdam, NY. She attended local schools and was a former parishioner of St. Casimir's R.C. Church. Prue was employed in the meat department as a wrapper at P&C; Supermarket in Schenectady for a number of years until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald W. Frostbutter, Sr.; her children, Donald M. Frostbutter, Jr.; LaDonna Fetter of Humble, TX and Laura Sondey and her husband Mike of Newnan, GA; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Chester, Mitchell and Zygfred Sawicki; and her sisters, Regina Gleason- Sarline, Wilhelmena Kerible and Alfreda Romanowski.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 11:15a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam with the Rev. John Medwid as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 4 until 7p.m. Wednesday evening at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
Nancy M. Walrath

Nancy M. (Osborn) Walrath, age 60, of Amsterdam passed away on Monday September 19, 2011 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, after a long struggle with cancer.
She was born in Gloversville, NY on June 28, 1951, the daughter of Burr and Marion (Atkins) Osborn.
Nancy lived most f her childhood in Palatine Bridge, NY. She was a 1969 graduate of Canajoharie Central School and a 1973 graduate of SUNY Oswego, where she earned her bachelor's degree. On May 29, 1976, she was united in marriage to Allen Walrath.
She was employed for 29 years as a traffic specialist by Beech-Nut Nutrition and later worked for Nabisco as a merchandiser, retiring early this year. In addition, she assisted her husband in the operation of his business as a distributor of Pepperidge Farm products. She was also involved with him in collector car hobby and served first as treasurer and then president, for the last four years of the Hudson-Mohawk Chapter of the Hudson-Essex Terraplane Club. She was particularly proud of her role in leading the chapter in its hosting of the Eastern Regional Meet of the H-E-T club this past June.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Allen of Amsterdam, a brother-in-law, Phillip Walrath (Patricia) of Colonie, a sister-in-law, Elaine Herzog (Richard) of Bethlehem, PA, two cousins, Charles Osborn of Galway, NY and Sandy Evangelista of Graniteville, VT.
Additional survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and as a disciplined and conscientious worker, always striving to do her best.
Family and friends are invited and may call from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Wednesday September 21, 2011 at the Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main Street, Broadalbin. A funeral service will be conducted immediately following the conclusion of calling hours at 12 (Noon) with the Rev Dr. Norman J. Tellier officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Nancy to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave, Gloversville, NY 12078.
Nelson A. Godfrey

Mr. Nelson A. Godfrey, 74, of Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born in Eagle Rock, Virginia on August 4, 1938 the son of the late Charles and Gaynell Burks Godfrey. He received his education in Virginia. Nelson's life long passion was Custom Auto Body Repair and he was self employed in Clifton Forge, Virginia before moving to this area several years ago.
He was of the Christian Faith. Nelson is survived by his companion of 17 years Carol Barbour of Amsterdam. Seven children; two sons, Nelson A. Godfrey Jr. and Michael Godfrey. Five daughters, Delphine Godfrey Hargrove, Debra Godfrey, Lisa Godfrey, Rhonda Edwards and Renee Edwards. Step-daughter, Mary Barbour. Three brothers, Edward L. Godfrey, Earsey Godfrey and Charles Godfrey. One sister, Julia Johnson.
Step-grandchildren, Taylor Barbour, Jayden Barbour and Brook- Lynn Noel Barbour. Several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Godfrey and Brenda Godfrey and one grandson, Brandon Godfrey.
Services will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 1:00P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. Cremation will be in Vale Cemetery Crematorium in Schenectady, NY. Services will also take place in Virginia at a later date.
Virginia I. Licardo
Born in Amsterdam, New York on Jul. 17, 1923

Virginia I. Paris Licardo, 88 , of Enfield, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon with loving family at her side in Boston, Mass.
Born in Amsterdam on July 17, 1923 the daughter of the late Jonas (John) and Katherine Adamaitis Paris (Puras), who emigrated here from Lithuania. She was educated in Amsterdam schools. She worked in the finishing room at Mohawk Carpets and later, during World War II was employed by the General Electric Company. As with many women of the war era, Virginia eagerly filled in the jobs that were traditionally male oriented. Her position then transferred to the Naval Supply Depot in Scotia. She was a parishioner of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church and sang in its choir. Following her move to Enfield in 1963, she was a member of the Holy Family Church. As a devout Roman Catholic, she also was a member of the Miraculous Medal association. Virginia was blessed with a talent for playing the piano which in later years enabled her to teach young people to play. She continued until the end of her life to bring that joy to young and old alike.
On July 5, 1953 she was united in marriage to John J. Licardo. He passed away on July 19, 1982 after twenty nine years of marriage. They were blessed with two children and three grandchildren who survive; son Eugene J. Licardo of Boston, Mass; daughter Sandra Licardo Lankford and her husband Wilmer of Fairplay, Maryland; grandchildren Sarah Jeanne Lankford Sprecher and her husband Kevin, John Paul and Levi Travis Lankford. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Virginia was also predeceased by her brothers Anthony "Andy" and Alfred "Whitey" Paris, and sisters Sadie Bollart and Anna Schutte.
Services are Saturday at 10:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church, Fr. John Medwid, celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in her name to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, in care of the funeral home office, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
