Constance V. Tracz, 84, of School Street, Wellsville, formerly of Amsterdam, died Wednesday at Highland Healthcare Center in Wellsville, following a long illness.
Born Jan. 23, 1912, in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of William and Mary Wojtkiewicz. She was a graduate of Amsterdam High School.
Mrs. Tracz was employed for many years as a seamstress for the Whitestag Clothing Company in Amsterdam.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church in Amsterdam. She was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville and a member of the Rosary Society of the Church.
She married John A. Tracz on June 6, 1938. He died Oct. 17, 1987.
Survivors include one son, Dr. William Tracz of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Barbara Hetzel of Wellsville; one brother, Edward Wojtkiewicz of Amsterdam; two sisters, Florence Reisigl and Eleanor Wytrwal, both of Amsterdam; two granddaughters; three grandsons; and nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wellsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville.
Arrangements are by the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home Inc., 296 N. Main St., Wellsville.
Genevieve "Gen" Koryzma
January 13, 1997
Miss Genevieve M. "Gen" Koryzma, of Milton Avenue, Amsterdam, died Monday evening at St. Mary's Hospital after a short illness.
Born on Sept. 3, 1921 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Teofila Podhorodecka Koryzma. Miss Koryzma was a lifelong area resident. She was educated locally and was a 1940 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She was also a graduate of the former Spencer Business School in Amsterdam.
She was employed by the Federal Government at the Naval Depot in Scotia, until retiring in 1980.
Miss Koryzma was a member of the Church of St. John The Baptist and its Ladies Rosary Society. She was a member of the former St. Cecelia's Choir, a former member of St. John's Parish Council; was a religious education teacher for the church; a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society; was a member of St. John's Seniors; was a St. John's Pierogi Lady and was a member of the Polish Union of America, currently serving as secretary for the local district; and also was a member of Club 60.
Miss Koryzma is survived by one sister, Winifred T. Bien of Amsterdam, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30a.m. Thursday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, followed at 10a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. John the Baptist. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the St. John's Cemetery Fund.
Franklin Hunt
January 14, 1997
Franklin C. Hunt, 81, of Carlisle Road, Sprakers, died Tuesday at home.
Born in Carlisle, on Dec. 28, 1915, he was the son of Ford Hunt and Alice Crosby. He graduated from Cobleskill High School and also from Cornell University with a degree in Animal Science.
Mr. Hunt was a dairy farmer all his working life, and was a lifelong area resident.
He was the Town of Root Assessor for 30 years.
Mr. Hunt was a charter member of Faith Bible Church in Carlisle. He was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and the Schoharie County Holstein Fresian Association.
He married Ruth Darrow on Sept. 7, 1944 in Currytown. She died Dec. 16, 1986.
Survivors include three daughters, Janet L. Burchell of Kobe, Japan; Virginia A. Clinansmith of Sprakers, and Margaret E. Stoutland of Canajoharie; two sons, the Rev. Stuart G. Hunt of Tyler Hill, Pa., and Paul J. Hunt of Sprakers; one brother, Lawrence Hunt of Ithaca; 13 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Faith Bible Church, Carlisle Road, Sprakers. Pastor Peter D. Marshall will officiate.
Burial will take place in Carlisle Rural Cemetery in the spring.
Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Bible Academy, 106 Crosby Road, Sprakers, 12166.
Arrangements are by the Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie.
Milfred Rupsis
January 13, 1997
Milfred Hubbard Rupsis, 75, of Canandaigua, formerly of Amsterdam, died Monday at Thompson Hospital, in Canandaigua.
Born Aug. 6, 1921 in Rochester, Vt, she was the daughter of Glenn and Eva Carter Hubbard.
She graduated from Peoples' Academy in Morrisville, Vt., in 1938 and from Russell Sage College, Troy, in 1943, with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Canandaigua Chapter, and the National Society: Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America. Mrs. Rupsis was an active member of the American Association of University Women for several years and a member of St. Mary's Church in Canandaigua.
She was married to Dr. Joseph M. Rupsis. He died in 1996.
She was predeceased by a son, Dr. John M. Rupsis in 1990.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Lane of Honeowe Falls, N.Y., and three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the John C. Johnson Funeral Home Inc., 47 North Main St., Canandaigua, from where a prayer service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary's Church at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua.

Donna Jean Nowakowski
January 13, 1997
Donna Jean Cerserlitch Nowakowski, 51, of Glen Avenue, Amsterdam, died Monday morning at the Darlene Drive Residence of Liberty Enterprises in Fort Johnson.
Born on May 7, 1945 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of John and Alma Cerserlitch, and was a lifelong resident.
Mrs. Nowakowski was employed as a factory worker at Liberty Enterprises of Amsterdam.
She attended St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church of Amsterdam.
She married Dennis Nowakowski on Nov. 15, 1980.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Irene Shuster of Avon Lake, Ohio; and Marlene Lacy of Marion, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral service will be held on Friday morning at 10 a.m. at the Betz Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. The interment will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Liberty Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
Marilyn Rogers
January 11, 1997
Marilyn Viola Rogers, 67, of 298 Bleecker St., Gloversville, died Saturday at Bay Medical Center in Panama City Beach, Fla., after a short illness.
Born in Amsterdam on April 5, 1929, she was the daughter of Arthur and Myrtle Roosevelt Beyer.
She resided in Gloversville most of her life. She and her husband wintered in Florida for many years.
Mrs. Rogers attended Gloversville schools and attended the North Main Street United Methodist Church in Gloversville.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Rogers, whom she married Nov. 30, 1946; a son, William H. Rogers of Gloversville; a daughter, Sharon R. Thomas also of Gloversville; her parents, Arthur and Myrtle Roosevelt Beyer of Gloversville; two sisters, Shirley Sanges of Gloversville and Barbara Abdella of Redlands, Calif.; a brother, Ronand Beyer of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Walrath & Bushouer Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Steven Clunn officiating.
Entombment will be at Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 261, Gloversville, 12078.
Mortimer Moseman
December 30, 1996
Mortimer V. Moseman, 83, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Dec. 30 at Egret Cove Center.
Born Feb. 4, 1913 in New York City, he moved to St. Petersburg from Schoharie in 1960.
He was the owner of the Little White House Restaurant. In 1975 he retired as a health and safety inspector of hotels and restaurants for the state of Florida.
He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Georgia Hoggett; two daughters, Georgia Evans of Pittsford and Carol Lawry of Everglade City, Fla.; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and also a sister-in-law, Ada Hotaling of Fort Johnson. He was predeceased by a daughter, Alice Moseman.
Cremation and burial took place in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Maria Gechele
January 14, 1997
Maria Gechele, 97, of Route 107, Amsterdam, and formerly of Queens New York, died Tuesday evening at the Wilkinson Extended Care Facility in Amsterdam.
Born June 19, 1899 in Vincenzia, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria Borgo. She moved to the United States from Italy in 1931.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Broadalbin.
Her husband, Santo Gechele, died in 1977. She was also predeceased by a son, Anthony Gechele.
Survivors include two daughters, Victoria Racaniello of Perth and Louise Gechele of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:15 a.m. Friday at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Broadalbin.
Interment will take place at Mount Saint Mary Cemetery in Flushing.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilkinson Extended Care Facility in care of the Riley Mortuary, 110 Division St., Amsterdam.
Anthony Bianchi Sr.
January 14, 1997
Anthony J. Bianchi Sr., Maj. USAR, Ret., 80, of 2 Lake Road, Stony Point, died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Born Oct. 23, 1916 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Enrico Bianchi and Amelia Leonetti Bianchi. He was employed for Civilian Conservation Corps after graduating high school, the New York Central Railroad, the New York State Unemployment Insurance Office, the U.S. Army and was a probation officer in Rockland County.
He retired from the Army on April 1, 1961, and from the probation office on July 9, 1982.
Mr. Bianchi was a lifetime member of the Reserve Officer's Association, the Knights of Columbus, Amsterdam Council, the Rockland County Bowling Association, where he was a past director and awards chairman, and was a former member of the Probation and Parole Officer's Association.
Mr. Bianchi served in the military from February 1941 through April 1962. He entered service at Camp Upton in Long Island and was then stationed at Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island. He went to Officer's Candidate School in Fort Sill Oklahoma, and commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in 1943 and subsequently was sent to Europe, landed in Normandy one week week after D-Day and saw action in Belgium, France, Germany, and Austria. He was a member of the first unit to join up with Russians in Austria. He earned the Bronze Star for actions in combat in Germany. He was later sent to Japan for two years as part of the Occupation Forces after the war. He served in the Korean War for 16 months and participated in the Inchon landing. He received the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster for meritorious service. Later, he served in Germany for an additional two years and Saudi Arabia in 1958-59. His final duty station, from which he retired was the 5th Missle Battalion, 7th Artillery based in Tappan.
Other commendations received were the WWII Victory Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal, European Campaign Medal, with two battle stars, American Defense Medal with battle star, Korean Liberation Medal and United Nations Service Medal.
He married Mary Grace Quinn of Staten Island on June 12, 1943. She died Nov. 27, 1996.
Mr. Bianchi is survived by his sisters, Esther Constantine and Yolanda Bianchi, both of Amsterdam; and Anna Famiano of Schenectady; a brother, Sando Bianchi of Briston, R.I., a daughter, Irene Furnari of Mount Ivy; a son, Anthony J. Bianchi Jr. of Ballston Lake; four grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Gregory's Church in Garnerville.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Haverstraw.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the T.J. McGowan Funeral Home, Broadway, Haverstraw.
Memorial contributions may be made to United Hospice of Rockland, 18 Thiells Mount Ivy Road, Pamona.
Virginia Devine
January 14, 1997
Mrs. Virginia M. Devine, 80, of Rotterdam, died Tuesday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Devine was a lifelong area resident.
She was employed as a clerical worker for the Wallace Co. for 15 years and later for 10 years for The Carl Co., retiring in 1981.
Mrs. Devine was a member of Quilters United in Learning Together-Schenectady (QUILTS).
Her husband of 53 years, Paul J. Devine, died in 1990.
Survivors include two sons, Peter B. Devine of Providence, R.I. and Bruce P. Devine of Broadalbin; a daughter, Deborah Deuel of Broadalbin; a brother, S. Bruce Mahoney of Silver Springs, Md.; a sister, Joyce Wiese of Long Boat Key, Fla.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady. Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
A calling hour will be conducted prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity.
