Richard "Red" Lawrence, 75, of Military Road, Edinburg, died Tuesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville after a short illness.
Born in White Plains, he was a graduate of Northville High school.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Lawrence was a construction worker at the B. William Delia Co. and the Carl Reese Construction Co., from which he retired.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He married June Hines Lawrence on July 6, 1945.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four sons, Donald Lawrence of Northville, Larry Lawrence of Johnsburg, James Lawrence of Clarksville, Tenn., and Russell Lawrence of Edinburg; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St., Northville. burial will be in Edinburg Cemetery. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may by made to the Edinburg Emergency Squad.
George Bornt
June 3, 1997
George R. Bornt, 79, of 159 Northern Blvd, Hagaman, died Tuesday at home.
Born June 14, 1917, in Amsterdam, he was the son of George and Hazel Carr Bornt.
Mr. Bornt was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended local schools.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theater of Operations.
He was employed by Mohawk Carpet Mills in Amsterdam, then was the owner and operated the Bornt service station on Northern Boulevard in Hagaman for 35 years.
He also restored player pianos, band organs and antique cars.
Mr. Bornt was a member of the Hagaman United Methodist Church.
He married Roberta Tracy Bornt on Dec. 16, 1941. She died July 26, 1994.
Survivors include a son, Richard C. Bornt of Gloversville; a daughter, Sandra Lee of Broadalbin; a brother, Laverne Bornt of Hagaman, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Betz Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with Rev. John Becker officiating. Burial will be in the Hagaman Cometary.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Amsterdam Lions Club.
Edythe Meserand
June 2, 1997
Edythe J. Meserand, 88, of Charleston, died Monday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
She graduated from high school in Jamaica, Queens.
Miss Meserand was the recipient of numerous awards, including a Peabody Award and a Freedom Foundation Award, in connection with her career in the radio and television industry, which started in 1926 and continued until her retirement in 1985. She was also awarded medals from the prime minister of Czechoslovakia and also from Pope Pius XII in 1950.
She was a founding member of the Charleston Historical Society and was a leader in the effort to restore the First Baptist Church in Charleston. She was also the Charleston town historian.
For her work with the Charleston Historical Society, she received the Medal of Honor from the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the highest honor granted to a non-member of the organization.
Survivors include Jane Barton of Charleston, with who she operated the Windy Hill Tree Farm in Charleston; a sister, Mary Miserendino of Convent Station, N.J.; two nieces, three grand-nieces and two great grand-nephews.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Charleston Historical Society, 20 Polin Road, Charleston.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Charleston Historical Society, 1120 Esperance Road, Esperance, 12066.

Donald Rozkydal
January 22, 1997
A graveside service for Donald Rozkydal, who died Jan. 22, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Canajoharie Falls Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating.
Arrangements are by the Lanz & Betz Funeral Home Inc., 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie.
Lester Hotaling
June 13, 1997
Lester M. Hotaling, 84, of Rural Grove Road, Sprakers, died Friday at home after a long illness.
Born in Seward on Nov., 22, 1912, he was the son of Burdette and Ella Mattice Hotaling.
Mr. Hotaling was educated in Seward and Cobleskill Schools. He was a self employed farmer and for the last 10 years, he was a carpenter associated with the former Amsterdam Carpentars Union.
He was a life member of the Rural Grove Volunteer Fire Department .
His wife, Mary E. Weidman, whom he married Nov. 20, 1937, died in 1984.
Survivors includetwo sons, Lester Martin Hotaling of Wells Bridge and Donald Hotaling of Rural Grove; three daughters, Janice Burns of Fultonville, Ella Mae Bramer of Canajoharie and Jane Hotaling of Rural Grove; two brothers, Walter Hotaling of Sharon Springs and Burdette Hotaling of Cobleskill; five sisters Nellie Anderson of Deltona, Fla., Marion Marshall of Cobleskill, Shirley Holmes of Schenectady, Violet Vrooman of Cobleskill, Daisy Miller of Riverview, Fla.; and several grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating.
Burial will be at Maple Avenue cemetery in Fultonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Corps. in care of the funeral home.
Marie Harris
June 12, 1997
Marie J. Harris, 67, of West Main Street, Cobleskill, formerly of Fonda, died Thursday at home after being stricken.
Born Sept. 14, 1929 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Moses L. Harris and Ruth Herrick Harris.
Miss Harris was a graduate of the former Knox School of Cooperstown and then attended the University of Nebraska. She also graduated from the Fisher College of Boston and finished her graduate work at New York University.
She was employed by the Kelly Temporary Service, Kelly Girls of Schenectady, and did secretarial work at Union College. She then worked at General Electric before retiring.
Miss Harris moved to Fonda in 1983 and then to Schoharie in 1992. She had lived in Cobleskill since December 1996.
Survivors includer her mother, Ruth E. Harris of Fonda; a daughter, Molly Gabel of Hampton Bays; two sisters, Virginia Yates of Fultonville and Thelma Tarlow of Naples, Fla.; three brothers, Thomas Harris of Edenton, N.C., Evans Harris of Abilene, Kan., and Benjamin Harris of Kentfield, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 86 Elm St., Cobleskill.
Joseph Nasadoski
June 14, 1997
Joseph L. Nasadoski, 86, of Bell Street, died Saturday morning at the home of his daughter in Broadalbin.
Born Nov. 22, 1910 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Thomas and Amelia Benosky Nasadoski. He attended local schools and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Nasadoski was employed by the former Olbrych's Dairy for 45 years. Later, he worked for Nathan's Paper & Waste Co. before retiring in 1995.
He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. He also was a member of various local bowling leagues.
Mr. Nasadoski married Clara Olbrych June 30, 1995. She died Jan. 4, 1990.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Nasadoski of Gloversville; a daughter, Marcia Cooper of Broadalbin; three sisters, Leona Wick, Sally Krawieki and Ann Juracka, all of Schenectady; four grandchildren, Stephen and Stephanie Nasadoski of Gloversville, and Kristen and Scott Cooper of Broadalbin; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St.
Services will be 8:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed at 9:15 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Charles Nathan
June 18, 1997
Charles Nathan, 89, of the High Rise Apartments, Amsterdam, died Wednesday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Born Nov. 25, 1907 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Abraham and Ethel Nathan. He was a graduate of Amsterdam High School and was a lifelong city resident.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theatre of Operations.
Mr. Nathan was employed as a salesman at Lurie's Department Store in Amsterdam and later at Britt's Department Store in Gloversville, retiring in 1965.
He was a member of Congregation Sons of Israel Synagogue.
Survivors include six nephews, Henry Lessick of Amsterdam, Aaron Schinberg of Boston, David Nathan of Washington, Rick Nathan of Hopewell Junction, Stephen Nathan of Syracuse and Bernie Nathan of Detroit; three nieces, Beatrice Gordon of Miami, Anita Cantor of N. Miami Beach, Frieda Nathan of Utica, and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon today at the Congregation Sons of Israel in Cranesville with Rabbi Shawn Gorman officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Sons of Israel Synagogue, 355 Guy Park Ave.
Arrangements are by the Johnson-Lindsay Funeral Home.
Marion Savage
June 17, 1997
Mrs. Marion E. Savage, 80, of 88 Lincoln St., Gloversville, died Tuesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness.
Born Sept. 14, 1916 in Northville, she was the daughter of Harmon and Frances King Lair. She was a graduate of the Rome School for the Deaf and lived in the Binghamton area for many years before returning to the Gloversville area 40 years ago.
Mrs. Savage was employed as a glove worker at the Hilts-Willard Glove Co. in Gloversville.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She was married to John Savage, who died in 1959.
Survivors include a son, Francis H. Savage of Gloversville; a daughter, Velma Golden of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Walrath & Bushour Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Rev. George M. Gray officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 yo 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

LaVerne Francisco
June 18, 1997
LaVerne Francisco, 74, of Route 30, Town of Florida, died Wednesday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born July 6, 1922 in the Town of Florida, he was the son of Walter and Clara Beyer Francisco. He was a lifelong area resident and was educated in local schools.
He owned and operated the Blue Bank Farm on Lang Road for 30 years, retiring in 1986.
Mr. Francisco was director of the Montgomery County Cooperative Extension, the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and the Production Credit Service. He also served as a member of the Florida Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of Artisan Lodge No. 84 of the Free and Accepted Masons, and the Oriental Temple of Troy.
He was a member of the Florida Reformed Church in Minaville.
He married Catherine Sweet Francisco on July 24, 1043.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Roger Francisco of Largo, Fla., and Phillips Francisco of Amsterdam; a daughter, Carol Cutterback of Bremerton, Wash.; two brothers, Arnold Francisco of Lakeland, Fla., and Walter Francisco of Largo, Fla.; two sisters, Marjorie Ortel of Johnstown and Gertrude Kruger of Amsterdam; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Betz Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Scott Crane officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, the Florida Reformed Church or the Florida Volunteer Fire Department.
