Helen E. Scott, 76, of Delaware Avenue, Hudson, died Aug. 28 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.
Born Nov. 6, 1921 in Hudson, she was the daughter of John and Mary Gorecki. She served in the Army Air Force during World War II as a corporal, after the war she served with Judge Advocates Division and also was a court reporter in Germany and Japan.
She is survived by a son, Edward Michael Scott of Norfolk, Va.; a daughter, Karen M. Dylong of Scotia; two sisters, Jean DeLavalle of Stamford, Conn., Julia Krisniski of Craryville; a grandson, Cameron DyLong, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church in Hudson. Interment will be in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., next to her husband, Edward Scott.
Memorial contributions can be made to Columbia Memorial Hospital, 2nd Hundred Years of Caring Community Campaign Development Office, 71 Prospect Ave., Hudson, 12534.
Funeral arrangement are under the direction of the Valenti & Richards Funeral Home, Hudson.
Joseph Hartlieb
September 15, 1998
Joseph O. Hartlieb, 76, of Sharon Springs, died Tuesday at his home.
Born in Union City, N.J., Mr. Hartlieb resided in West Taconic for many years before moving to Sharon Springs in 1967.
During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Hartlieb operated the family farm in Argusville until 1982. Subsequently, he worked for Life Savers in Canajoharie, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of the West Taconic Volunteer Fire Department from 1957 to 1967.
He married Catherine Cole Hartlieb in 1947. She died in 1985.
Survivors include three sons, Timothy Hartlieb of Brunswick, N.J., Michael Hartlieb of Canajoharie and Joseph Hartlieb of Sharon Springs; a daughter, Cathy Hartlieb of Sharon Springs; a brother, Charles Hartlieb of Rochester; a sister, Agnes Flannery of Rhinebeck, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at the Lappeus Funeral Home, 32 Park St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Church on Route 20. Burial will be in Slate Hill Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 311 Turner St., Utica, 13501, or the Sharon Springs Rescue Squad.
Irene Cross
September 15, 1998
Miss Irene B. Cross, 91, formerly of Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, died Tuesday at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.
Born March 17, 1907 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Harry and Catherine Abeling Cross. She was educated locally and was a lifelong area resident.
Miss Cross was an accountant for 32 years at Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Co. and later worked in the same capacity at Fairchild Electrometrics, retiring in 1972.
She was a member of the Girl Scouts of America.
Miss Cross was also a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a brother, Robert F. Cross of Amsterdam, and her longtime friend, Lottie Traider of Amsterdam.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
Helen Bialkowski
September 15, 1998
Mrs. Helen Bialkowski, 74, of Sharon Springs, died Tuesday at Bassett Health Care in Cooperstown.
Born in Queens, Mrs. Bialkowski was a longtime resident of Levittown before moving to Sharon Springs in 1985.
She was a homemaker.
She married Henry Bialkowski on July 29, 1950. He died in 1991.
Survivors include three sons, Raymond Bialkowski of Rochester, Thomas Bialkowski of West Fulton and Henry Bialkowski Jr. of Long Island; four daughters, Lorraine Ruml of Long Island, Doris Bialkowski of Cobleskill, Janet Bialkowski of Sharon Springs and Elaine Rose of Sloansville; three sisters, Eleanor Matusewicz of Long Island, Stella Chyczewski of Queens and Bertha Dunwald of Oneonta; 10 grandchildren and a great -grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:15 a.m. Friday at the Lappeus Funeral Home, 32 Park St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church on Route 20. Burial will be in Slate Hill Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.

Rocco Abballe
September 14, 1998
Mr. Rocco Abballe, 91, of Jackson Street, Amsterdam, died Tuesday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
Born Sept. 18, 1906 in Monte San Giovanni Compagno, Province of Frosinone, Italy, he was the son of Generoso and Angeline Abballe. He came to the United States in 1922.
Mr. Abballe was employed as a molder in the foundry of the American Locomotive Co. in Schenectady for many years, retiring in 1965.
He was a member of the Guy Park Seniors, the Community Seniors and the Horace Inman Senior Citizens Center.
Mr. Abballe was a communicant of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Amsterdam, and was a member of the St. Anthony's Society and the Holy Name Society.
He married Angelina Duchessi on Oct. 26, 1930. She died on Nov. 28, 1991.
Survivors include two sons, William D. Abballe of Marietta, Ga. and Thomas Abballe of Westwood, N.J.; a daughter, Jeannine Haluch of Bloomfield; a sister, Liberata Mancini of Buenos Aires, Argentina; seven grandchildren, one great-grandson and several nieces, nephews,and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:15 a.m. on Friday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at the Church of St. Michael the Archangel. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of St. Michael the Archangel.
Emma Sleezer
September 16, 1998
Mrs. Emma Sleezer, 97, of Carpenter Street, Gloversville, died Wednesday at Mount Loretto Nursing Home in Amsterdam after a long illness.
Born Aug. 10, 1901 in Wells, she was the daughter of Thomas and Carrie Herry Rooney.
Mrs. Sleezer resided in Northville for many years before her marriage, then also lived in Benson before settling in Gloversville for many years. She entered the nursing home three years ago.
Mrs. Sleezer worked for Geraldine Novelty Co., then as a glove examiner with Grandoe Glove Co., both in Gloversville.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She was married to Elmer Sleezer. He died in 1961. She was also predeceased by her two sons, Donald and George Sleezer, and a daughter, Lucille Stangle.
Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Manikewitz of Gloversville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Walrath & Bushouer Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Rev. Alan C. Rhodes, pastor of the North Main Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William Ford
September 15, 1998
William H. Ford Jr., 72, of Ridge Manor, Fla., formerly of Sprakers, died Tuesday at his home.
Born Nov. 5, 1925 in Nelliston,he was the son of William H. and Theresa Hayes Ford.
Mr. Ford moved to Ridge Manor in 1969.
For many years, he was a dairy farmer. For 20 years, Mr. Ford worked for the Lykes-Pasco Citrus Processing Co. in Dade City, Fla., until his retirement.
He was a member of the Dutch Reformed Church in Sprakers.
Survivors include a sister, Louise Pezzella of Ridge Manor, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Johnsville Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by Hollenbeck Funeral Home, Gloversville.
George May
September 18, 1998
George A. May, 55, of N. Main St., Gloversville, died Thursday at his home.
Born in New Haven, Conn., he was educated there.
Survivors include a daughter, Christy Rodriguez, of Hialeah, Fla.
Services were private. Cremation was in Leatherstocking Crematory, Cherry Valley.
Arrangements are by the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, Gloversville.
Lottie Dutcher
September 18, 1998
Lottie I. Dutcher, 90, of Gray Road, Mayfield, died Thursday at Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.
Born in Giffords Valley, she was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Dutcher was a glove worker before her retirement. She was a member of the Mayfield Senior Citizens.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Dutcher, who died in 1964.
Survivors include a sister, Leona Page of Mayfield; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St., Northville. Interment will be in King Cemetery, Northhampton.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Helen Tenerowicz
September 18, 1998
Helen E. Tenerowicz, formerly of McClellan Ave., Amsterdam, died Friday at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility.
Born in St. Johnsville, she was the daughter of Peter and Anastasia Warcaba Osipovich. She was educated in St. Johnsville schools and received her registered nurse certification from Amsterdam City Hospital. She came to Amsterdam in 1943.
Mrs. Tenerowicz worked for Amsterdam City Hospital and later for Amsterdam Memorial Hospital. She also was a physician's assistant for Dr. Helen Blanchard before her retirement. She was a member of the Church of St. John the Baptist.
She served in the U.S. Army Cadet Corps during World War II.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Tenerowicz, whom she married on Nov. 22, 1953. He died in 1990.
Survivors include a son, Paul Tenerowicz of Rochester; a daughter, Mary Ann Moore of Berwick, Pa.; a brother, Walter Sawchuck of Mill Hall, Pa.; three sisters, Mary Babuska of St. Johnsville, Anna Cecconi of Little Falls and Gladys Marvin of Sun City, Ariz.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Guzielek-Pomykaj Funeral Home, 13 Belmont Place, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of St. John the Baptist. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held prior to the funeral services on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of St. John the Baptist or to the Arthritis Foundation in care of the funeral home.
Frank Bourne
September 18, 1998
Frank H. Bourne, 79, of Pearl St., Johnstown, died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital following a long illness.
Born in Johnstown on Dec. 21, 1918, he was the son of William and Ethel Davis Bourne. He was a 1936 graduate of Johnstown High School.
He last worked for the Johnstown Knitting Mill before his retirement. He was a member of the Johnstown Reformed Church, where he served as an Elder, Deacon, Greeter and Sunday School Teacher. He was also a 20-year member of the the Community Adult Education Advisory Board.
He married the former Pauline Young on August 4, 1941.
Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Rev. William Bourne of Rockford, Ill.; a daughter, Rebecca Baines of Arcade; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several cousins.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main St., Johnstown with the Rev. Jack Millard and Mr. Bourne's son, Rev. Bourne, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
A calling hour will precede the funeral services at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
