Melvin H. Blakeslee, 79, of West First Avenue, Johnstown, died Saturday at his home following a long illness.
Born Jan. 1, 1919 in Nelliston, he was the son of Henry and Eva Green Blakeslee.
He was employed at one time by Mohasco Industries of Amsterdam. He later worked as a fire safety technician and in the security department at the State University of New York at Oswego, retiring in 1981.
He married Frances Erkenbrack Blakeslee on July 1, 1961.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, George Blakeslee of Ballston Spa; two daughters, Jacqueline Welch of Ballston Spa and Caroline Showers of Oswego; a sister, Helen Bellinger of Fultonville; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Melvin Blakeslee, in March of 1995.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown, with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main St., Gloversville.
Ruby Dingman
September 26, 1998
Ruby J. Dingman, 74, of McDonald Drive, Fort Johnson, died Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
Born April 8, 1924 in Anita, Pa., she was the daughter of William and Anita Lester Renwick. She was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School and moved to the Amsterdam area in 1946.
She was employed as a clerk at the Pentagon during World War II. Following the war, she was employed as a clerk at various area businesses, including Amsterdam Printing Co., Banta's Market in Hagaman, Mohasco Industries and lastly for Almor , until retiring in 1989.
She was a member and elder of the Consistory of the Calvary Reformed Church of Hagaman where she also taught Sunday School. She was an active member of WOW and Club 60 of St. Mary's Hospital and was also a volunteer there.
She married William Dingman on Sept. 15, 1946. He died in 1980.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Clink of Fort Johnson, Karen Blance of Amsterdam and Kristine Edwards of Red Hook; a brother, Edward Renwick of Anita, Pa.; a sister, Helen Rohades of Punxsutawney, Pa.; six grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Reformed Church, Hagaman. Interment will be in Hagaman Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Reformed Church.
Alice Abare
September 26, 1998
Mrs. Alice Sheffel Abare, 89, of Gloversville, died Saturday at the Fulton County Infirmary after a long illness. She was a former resident of Rotterdam.
Born in Schenectady, she was a lifelong area resident. She worked for New York Telephone and for more than 20 years, retiring in 1971. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, its Altar Rosary Society and its senior citizens club. She was also a member of the Annie Schaeffer Senior Citizens Center in Schenectady.
She was married to Anthony Abare for 35 years. He died in 1961.
Survivors include a daughter, June A. Wilt of Gloversville; a sister, Helen S. Spring of Corinth; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Edmund Trzaskos
September 26, 1998
Edmund John Trzaskos of Amsterdam died Saturday .
Born in Amsterdam, he was the son of Stanislaus and Bridget Sczerba Trzaskos. He was a lifelong area resident and was educated in local schools.
He was employed by Mohasco Industries, Consolidated Products and Ward Products.
He was a member of the Polish National Legion.
Mr. Trzaskos was a World War veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.
He was married to Stella Trzaskos.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Richard E. Trzaskos of Amsterdam; a daughter, Jeannette T. Schaefer of Diamondhead; and a brother, John Trzaskos of Amsterdam.
Funeral services will be private. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus School or the Liberty Foundation.
Arrangements are by the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place.
Paul Boggs
September 27, 1998
Paul Boggs, 96, formerly of the Warnerville Trailer Park, died Sunday at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown after a long illness.
Mr. Boggs was born in South Kortright. He was educated in Delaware County schools and was a longtime resident of Howes Cave before moving to the trailer park in 1969. He entered the Delaware County Infirmary in 1991.
Mr. Boggs was employed as a mason's tender for Olin Fuller, a mason from the Howes Cave and Central Bridge area. He was also employed as a dairy farmer at one time.
He was married to Esther Potts Boggs for many years before her death in 1974.
Survivors include a son, Warren G. Boggs of Cobleskill; a sister, Evelyn Dickson of Delhi; two half-brothers, Wendell Bogs and Renwick Boggs, both of Oneonta; two half-sisters, Margaret Craig of Oneonta and Nettie Moore of Florida; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Langan Funeral Home, 21 N. Main St., Central Bridge. Burial will follow at Bramanville Prospect Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mineral Springs United Methodist Church.
Walter Jorgensen
September 27, 1998
Walter F. Jorgensen, 80, of Tamarack Trail, Saratoga Springs, died Sunday at his home following a brief illness.
He was born in Schenectady and was employed at General Electric in Schenectady for more than 30 years, retiring in the early 1970s.
Mr. Jorgensen was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Northern France. He was a former Prisoner of War and received the Purple Heart.
He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, American Legion Post 1005 in Schenectady and the Danish Brotherhood.
He was married to Ruth Askew Jorgensen for 50 years. She died in 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Kislowski of Broadalbin; two sons, Robert Jorgensen of Scotia and Peter Jorgensen of Saratoga Springs; a stepdaughter, Mary Myers of Colonie; a sister, Helga Olsen of Carman; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Wednesday at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway at Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga Springs.
Rose Marie Johnson
September 27, 1998
Mrs. Rose Marie Johnson, 70, of Altamont, died Sunday at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Rochester, she moved to Altamont in 1951. She worked as a secretary for Whipple Realty in Altamont for several years.
She was a lifelong member of the Helderberg Rod and Gun Club and was also a member of the Altamont Garden Club.
She was married to Eugene L. Johnson.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Keith L. Johnson of Round Lake; a daughter, Sherry J. Gennett of Amsterdam; a brother, John Shook of Elmira; two sisters, Anna Elwood of Elmira and Ruth Wahl of Macedon; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memory's Garden, Colonie.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont.

Patricia Wisniewski
September 26, 1998
Mrs. Patricia Wisniewski, 52, of Chapel Street, Rotterdam, died Saturday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a brief illness.
Born in Amsterdam, she attended Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She had lived in Schenectady for the past 26 years.
She was employed in the housekeeping department at Ellis Hospital from 1976 to 1984. From 1993 until her death, she was employed as an assistant cook at A.J.'s Restaurant on Broadway in Schenectady.
She was a member of St. John's Church in Amsterdam.
She married Andrew Wisniewski on April 7, 1984.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Jackie L. Smith of Glenville; a brother, Edward C. Smith Jr. of Syracuse; a sister, Sylvia Del Santo of Amsterdam and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Leszczynski Funeral Home, 716 Crane St., Schenectady, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John's Church in Amsterdam. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Amsterdam.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Ellis Hospital Foundation.
Shirley A. Hickey
September 24, 1998
Shirley A. Hickey, 63, of 39 Center St., St. Johnsville, died Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born Sept. 26, 1934 in Mohawk, she was the daughter of Clarence and Ethel Hillman Ouderkirk. She was educated in Canajoharie schools and lived most of her life in the St. Johnsville area.
Mrs. Hickey was employed at one time at the Allegro Show Co. in Little Falls and was lastly employed by the Beech-Nut Nutrition Corp. in Canajoharie. She was of the Lutheran faith.
She married Harold Hickey on July 6, 1957.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, Wayne Hickey, Jody Hickey and Mark Hickey, all of St. Johnsville; two daughters, Deborah Rouse of St. Johnsville and Renee Orendorff of Nelliston; two brothers, Clarence Ouderkirk of Palatine Bridge and Robert Ouderkirk of Fort Plain; two sisters, Mildred Chest of Johnstown and Beatrice Collins of Fort Plain; 10 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted at at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Smith-Woody & Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. Cremation was at Leatherstocking Crematory in Cherry Valley. Interment will be in West St. Johnsville Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Johnsville Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Suzanne Bush
September 28, 1998
Mrs. Suzanne M. Bush, 46, of 97 Lincoln St., Gloversville, died Monday at Ellis Hospita in Schenectady after a long illness.
Born Dec. 9, 1951 in Gloversville, she was the daughter of Edward F. and Charlotte Gifford Loux. She was educated in Gloversville schools and was a lifelong city resident.
She worked as an aide with the elderly in private homes.
Mrs. Bush was a member of the Fremont Street United Methodist Church in Gloversville.
She was married to Clark N. Bush.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Marilyn M. Warner and Christina M. Warner, both of Gloversville; six brothers, Edward F. Loux Jr. of Kent, England, Gerald C. Loux of Chicago, Burlin R. Loux of Watervliet, Charles W. Loux of Cincinnati, Ronald J. Loux of Gloversville and Raymond P. Loux of Gloversville; four sisters, Sandra J. Migliavacca and Donna M. Loux, both of Gloversville, Judith A. Gage of Rochester and Marilyn J. Javarone of Gloversville; one granddaughter, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Walrath & Bushouer Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Rev. Erik L. Smith officiating. Interment will be at Fern Dale Cemetery in Johnstown.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
