Frank H. Cole, 75, of North Wildwood, N.J. died Tuesday at the Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital in Cape May Court House, N.J.
Born June 1, 1923, in Amsterdam, the son of Harry and Anna Rhods Cole; he was formerly of Schenectady, and has been a local resident for the past 22 years.
Mr. Cole was a World War II Veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 184 of Wildwood and a past member of the Elks Lodge of North Wildwood.
Mr. Cole was predeceased by his daughter, Donna L. Cole.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty M. NeeHaig Cole; a son, Jeffrey B. Cole of North Wildwood, N.J.; a brother Richard Cole of South Carolina; a sister Dorothy M. Brown of Broadalbin; two grandsons and two step-granddaughters.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at the Ingersoll Greenwood Funeral Home, 1201 Central Ave., North Wildwood, N.J. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Leeds Public Library, 802 Parkway Drive S.E., Leeds, Ala. 35094.
Ruth Maloney
January 22, 1999
Ruth VanDellon Maloney, 73, of 133 Sixth Ave., Gloversville, died Friday at home after a long illness.
Born Sept. 4, 1925, in Gloversville the daughter of Robert L. and Sara E. Martin VanDellon. She was a lifelong resident of Gloversville and a 1943 graduate of Gloversville High School as well as a 1947 graduate of SUNY at Oneonta.
She was employed by the Cobleskill School District as an elementary school teacher, also in the C.E.U. Dept. in the Gloversville school system. She later became a substitute teacher in the Fulton County area, and lastly substituted in Guilderland, where she and her family resided for several years.
Mrs. Maloney was a member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church, Gloversville. The Hit and Miss Bowling league, NYS Teachers Association, Fulton County Retired Teachers Association.
She married Raymond "John" Maloney on Feb. 19,1949. He died Feb. 12, 1997.
Survivors include a son, Timothy J. Maloney of Rochester; a daughter, Susan J. Doak and a brother, Burton E. VanDellon both of Gloversville; a sister Marian Lescarboura of West Palm Beach, Fla; three grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service will take place at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main St., Gloversville or North Main Street United Methodist Church, 316 N. Main St., Gloversville, 12078.

William Brunt
January 22, 1999
William T. Brunt, 77, of Phillips Street, Amsterdam, died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Amsterdam on April 9, 1921, he was the son of William and Ana Slusarz Brunt. He attended Amsterdam schools and was a graduate of Lynch High School. He lived in Scotia, California and Georgia before returning to Amsterdam four years ago.
Mr. Brunt was employed by Mohasco Carpet Mills in Georgia until his retirement. He was a member of the former St. John's Club and its bowling league. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lottie Brunt, whom he married on April 27, 1946. She died in 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Brunt of Schenectady and William Brunt of Saratoga Springs; a brother, Bernard Brunt of Melville; a grandchild; nieces; nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Guzielek-Pomykaj Funeral Home, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
Virginia Cobleigh
January 16, 1999
Virginia C. Cobleigh, 86, of Issaquah, Wash., formerly of Canajoharie died Saturday, Jan. 16 at the home of her daughter in Issaquah. She lived in the Canajoharie-Palatine Bridge for 56 years.
Born in Albany on Feb. 7, 1912, she was the daughter of Harry and Clara Barber Case. She was a graduate of Delmar High School and the former Stiegelmaier Business School, Albany.
Mrs. Cobleigh was a teacher at the former Stiegelmaier Business School and the YMCA in Albany. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Canajoharie and its Alter Guild and a former member of the Colonial Club, Canajoharie and the Palatine Literary Society.
She was predeceased by her husband, Franklin Cobleigh, whom she married Dec. 29, 1934. He died in 1992. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Linda Cobleigh, who died in 1947.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Weber of Issaquah, Wash.; two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 28, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Moyer Street, Canajoharie, with the Rev. Alvin Burnworth officiating. Burial will be in Springfield Center Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Evergreen Community Hospice and Healthcare Foundation, 12910 Totem Lake Blvd., Kirkland, Wash. 98034 or to the Church of the Good Shepherd, P.O. Box 118, Canajoharie 13317.

Helen Bremer
February 3, 1999
Helen M. Bremer, 91, former resident of Austin Street, Amsterdam, died Wednesday at the Park Hill Adult Home after being a resident for four years.
Born June 4, 1907, in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Konstansky and Frances Smokowski Kowalski. She was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools.
She was employed by Mohawk Carpet Mills in Amsterdam for many years.
Mrs. Bremer was a member of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church in Hagaman.
She married John S. Bremer, who died in 1988.
Survivors include three sisters, Sadie Grzywienski and Lottie Stark, both of Hagaman; Winifred Francisco of the Town of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private funeral service at the convenience of the family will take place at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Ronald Matulewecz officiating.
Spring burial will be in the Hagaman Cemetery, Hagaman.
Calling hours are private.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen's Church.
Edward Ellis
February 2, 1999
Edward M. Ellis, 52, of Route 107, Perth, died Tuesday at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany.
Born Aug. 25, 1946, in Middleburgh, he was the son of Donald and Mildred Mikolatis Ellis.
Mr. Ellis was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for the Sealed Air Company of Scotia until he became ill in November.
He married Christina Hickok Ellis Dec. 11, 1987.
In addition to his wife and father, survivors include two daughters, Vicki Tomlinson of Amsterdam and Christina Isabella of Slippery Rock, Pa.; a sister, Virginia Chichester of Middleburgh; a brother, Donald Ellis of Middle-burgh; and five grandchildren.
The funeral is 3 p.m. Friday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown, with the Rev. Craig Baker officiating.
Spring burial will be in Perth Cemetery.
A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Gladys Foley
February 2, 1999
Gladys LaTourette Foley, 90, formerly of Gloversville, died Tuesday at Mount Loretto Nursing Home, Amsterdam.
Born June 11, 1908, in Trout Creek, she was the daughter of Reed and Agnes Mille LaTourette. Mrs. Foley was a 1924 graduate of Sidney High School and a 1927 graduate of Oneonta Normal School.
For 20 years, she was a technical clerk for the General Electric Co. in the steam turbine division, retiring in 1973.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ambridge of Wells and Jane A. Pollak of Johnstown; a son, John F. Foley of Yorktown Heights; a sister, Ethel Turner of New Berlin; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Sister Maria Xavier Foley, and two grandchildren, Jason Foley and Maria Ambridge.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown, with Rev. Jerry Gifford, pastor of the Town of Florida Family Bible Church, officiating.
Spring burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin.
A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Loretto Chapel Fund, Box 3166, Swart Hill Road, Amsterdam 12010; or to a charity of one's choice.
Elizabeth Hojohn
February 3, 1999
Elizabeth Warner Hojohn of Johnstown died Wednesday at home after a long illness.
She was born in Gloversville and attended Mayfield schools.
She worked at Sears, Perrella Gloves and Continental Mills, retiring with a disability. She was also employed as a domestic worker for area families.
She married Richard Hojohn Oct. 8, 1949. He died in 1986.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Hojohn Hayward of Mayfield and Jo-Anne Hojohn Hoover and Vicki Hojohn, both of Johnstown; a brother, Murl Warner Jr. of Mayfield; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville.
Spring burial will be in Broadalbin Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Katherine Martuscello
February 3, 1999
Katherine M. Martuscello, 93, formerly of Langley Road, Amsterdam, died Wednesday at Saratoga Hospital, Saratoga Springs, following a long illness.
Born April 22, 1905, in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of John and Frances Ofiara Bernaski. She was a lifelong area resident.
She was employed by the Mohawk Carpet Mills in Amsterdam as a spinner, retiring in 1972.
Mrs. Martuscello was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church of Amsterdam.
She was first married to Michael Kochman. He died in 1940. She married Daniel V. Martuscello in 1948. He died in March 1988.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy K. Major of Greenfield Center; a brother, Leo Bernaski of Amsterdam; two sisters, Mary Cebula and Edna Benoit, both of Amsterdam; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 8:15 a.m. Saturday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, Amsterdam.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Saratoga Hospital Nursing Home.
Clyde Sherman
February 4, 1999
Clyde "Hoop" Sherman of Clark Avenue, Fort Plain, died this morning at home.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain.
Spencer Hyney
February 3, 1999
Spencer J. Hyney, 70, of Elwood Road, Starkville, died Wednesday at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, following a long illness.
Born Feb. 3, 1929, in Utica, he was the son of Spencer and Anastasia Collins Hyney. He was a lifelong area resident and attended Van Hornesville Schools.
Mr. Hyney was the owner and operator of a own dairy farm for 46 years. He was also the highway superintendent for more than 30 years for the Town of Stark, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose of Canajoharie, and in his younger years was an avid bowler.
Mr. Hyney married Laura M. Smith Hyney Nov. 17, 1950.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Donald Hyney of Starkville and Carl Hyney of Long Island; three daughters, Alice Foeppel of Scottsville, Va., Jacqueline Gauthier of Jordanville, and Susan Hyney of Starkville; five brothers, Robert Hyney of Johnstown, Bruce Hyney of Dolgeville, Gerald Hyney and MacNair Hyney, both of Fort Plain, and Gary Hyney of Canajoharie; four sisters, Joan Smith and Beverly Ambridge, both of Belview, Fla., Arlene James of Fort Plain, and Elaine Fraiser of Richfield Springs; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Friday at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating.
Spring burial will be in the Van Hornesville Cemetery.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
