Evelyn Zumbolo
April 27, 1999
Evelyn L. Zumbolo, 76, of Division street, Amsterdam, died Tuesday morning at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam.
Born June 9, 1922, in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Antimo and Elvina Salvione Spagnola. She was a lifelong area resident.
She was employed for many years at Fownes Brothers Gloves, Amsterdam, and later worked for the Amsterdam Urban Renewal Agency, retiring in 1975.
Mrs. Zumbolo was a member and former president of the PTA, and was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Amsterdam.
She married Frank D. Zumbolo June 17, 1945. He died Dec. 19, 1979.
Survivors include a son, Michael J. Zumbolo of Amsterdam; four sisters, Lena Heslan, Pat Cataffo, Olga Cisaretti, and Jean Sheckton, all of Amsterdam; a grandson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 8:15 a.m. Thursday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove Street, Amsterdam.
Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.

Mildred Hagaman
May 19, 1999
Mildred B. Hagaman, 97, of North Washington Street, Herkimer, died Wednesday afternoon in the Folts Homes.
Born June 6, 1901, in Hagaman, she was the daughter of Albert and Wilhemia Tesnow Hagaman. She was raised and educated in Hagaman, completing high school and continuing her studies in secretarial skills.
For many years she was a private secretary working for Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam before retiring in 1974. She later worked as an income tax consultant before moving to Folts Home Independent Living, April 1, 1975.
She was a member of both St. Ann's Episcopal Church, Amsterdam, and Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer, as well as a member of the Art-Well Order of the Eastern Star Chapter of Amsterdam.
Survivors include several cousins, as well as a devoted friend, Noreen Ward of East Herkimer, and her family.
A funeral service with Holy Eucharist is scheduled at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer, with the Rev. Brian Kellington officiating. A graveside committal service will follow at 1 p.m. in Hagaman Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Folts Home, 104 N. Washington St., Herkimer 13350.
Arrangements are by the Fenner Funeral Home, 115 Court St., Herkimer.

Clarence Kiuber
May 20, 1999
Clarence J. "Iggy" Kiuber, 82, of Bartlett Street, Amsterdam, died Thursday at the Montgomery Meadows Residential Health Care Facility following a long illness.
Born Oct. 17, 1916, in Oneida, he was the son of Anthony and Mary Raila Kiuber. He moved to Amsterdam as a young boy and lived here since, receiving his education at St. Mary's Institute.
During World War II, Mr. Kiuber served in the Army in the European Theatre of Operations.
Mr. Kiuber was employed by the General Electric Co. in the large motor generator department, Schenectady, before retiring in 1981.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and the St. Michael the Archangel Society of the church. He was also a member of the American-Lithuanian Club and the American-Lithuanian Veterans Club.
Mr. Kiuber married Florence Rzasa May 11, 1947.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a sister, Helen Kiuber of Amsterdam; nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Church.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam or St. Stanislaus School Foundation.

Joseph Pisarski
May 19, 1999
Joseph Alexander Pisarski, 86, of Snooks Corners Road, Amsterdam, died Wednesday at the Samuel Stratton Veterans Administration Medical Center in Albany after a short illness.
Born in Amsterdam, he was the son of John and Frances Budziak Pisarski.
Mr. Pisarski was also a World War II Air Force veteran, retiring from the in 1966 as a staff sergeant. Previous to his entry in the military he worked for a short time at Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Mills, Amsterdam.
He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Church, Amsterdam.
Survivors include three sisters, Isabel Lembke of Amsterdam, Frances Bernard of Clifton Park, and Dorothy Dixon of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Larry Pisarski of Amsterdam; several nieces, nephews.
Mr. Pisarski has donated his remains to the anatomical gift program at Albany Medical College.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
Arrangements are by the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany.

Ethel Henry
May 20, 1999
Ethel Shackleton Henry, 84, of Elizabethtown, Ky., died Thursday at Jewish Hospital, Louisville, Ky.
Born May 23, 1914, in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Joseph and Anna Willis Shackleton.
Mrs. Henry was employed by Amsterdam Memorial Hospital as a receptionist.
She was a member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church, Amsterdam.
Mrs. Henry lived in Elizabethtown, Ky., for two and half years.
She attended Severns Valley Baptist Church, where she was a member of the senior adult choir and Sunday school class.
She was predeceased by her husband, Boyd J. Henry Sr., Feb. 24, 1998.
Survivors include two sons, Peter Henry of Macedon and Boyd Henry Jr. of Broadalbin; a daughter Gail Cox of Elizabethtown; a step-sister, Marion Covel of Oakland, Calif.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday at Severns Valley Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Bill Ray officiating.
There are no calling hours.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam, at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, 306 College St., Elizabethtown, Ky. 42702-0553.

Marion Persons
May 20, 1999
Marion Persons, 85, of Amsterdam, died Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illness.
Born April 26, 1914, she was the daughter of Otto and Rose Paro Groff. She was a graduate of Woestina School, Rotterdam Junction, and Lived in the Amsterdam area most of her life and for a brief time in Tampa, Fla.
Mrs. Persons was a beautician in Amsterdam and Schenectady for many years. She was a 4-H leader in Montgomery County and a Montgomery County Farm Bureau member.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Amsterdam, and Sacred Heart Church, Tribes Hill.
Survivors include a son, Michael G. Persons of Richmondville; two daughters, Rosemary McGuire and Charlene DiCaprio of Amsterdam; a sister Genevieve Lasko of Florida; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Persons donated her remains to the Anatomical Gift Program of Albany Medical College.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Loretto Nursing Home Chapel Fund, 302 Swart Hill Road, Amsterdam 12010.
Arrangements are by the Riley Mortuary, 110 Division St., Amsterdam.

Douglas Noble
graveside service
A graveside service for Douglas Noble, who died Feb. 27, is scheduled for noon, Saturday in Broadalbin Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Newcomer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie 12205.

Rodney Simonds
July 2, 1999
Rodney E. Simonds, 84, of Gloversville, died Friday.
Born in Frankfort on Sept. 17, 1914, he was the son of Arnold and Lula Wood Simonds. He attended Fishhouse School and Russell Sage College.
Mr. Simonds was employed by the National Federal of Independent Business until his retirement. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Gloversville, St. Patrick's Masonic Lodge, the 27th Division Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post 137 and the National Rifle Association.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He married the former Lena Robbins on Dec. 20, 1934.
Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Eric Simonds of Mayfield; a daughter, Rodena Bosch of Niskayuna; a brother, Jack Simonds of Mayfield; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville. Burial will be in Kings Cemetery, Northampton.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Beverly Bueskes
July 9, 1999
Beverly J. Bueskes, 65, of Providence Hall, Hudson, formerly of Amsterdam, died suddenly Friday at home.
Born March 4, 1934, in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Joseph and Melvina Schultz Neuman. She moved to Hudson one year ago.
Mrs. Bueskes was a registered nurse at Ellis Hospital of Schenectady and several nursing homes in the Schenectady and Amsterdam areas; she also worked as a private duty nurse.
Survivors include her husband, Gerard C. Bueskes, a resident of the Eden Park Nursing Home of Hudson; two sons, Kerry King of Nassau and Shawn King of Amsterdam; three daughters, Amy Hull of Elizaville, Kristen Mauney and Sherry Levitt, both of Georgia, six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be scheduled at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be private.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia/Greene Humane Society, 125 Humane Society Road, Hudson 12534.
Arrangements are by the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Germantown.

Donald Crannell
July 12, 1999
Donald H. Crannell, 80, of School Street, Broadalbin, died this morning at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility.
Born June 27, 1919, in the Town of Northampton, he was the son of Floyd and Alice Cook Crannell. He was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Crannell was a rural postal carrier for the Broadalbin post office for 23 years, retiring in December 1976 due to ill health.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the European Theater and attaining the rank of tech sergeant. He was the recipient of the American Defense Service Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Purple Heart.
Mr. Crannell was a member of the Northampton United Methodist Church at Fishhouse; a member of American Legion Post 337, and VFW Post 8690, both of Broadalbin.
He married Mae Nettles July 24, 1945.
Survivors include his wife; a son, John L. Crannell of Hooksett, N.H.; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Marsden of Arlington, Va.; a step-son, Leamon E. Harris of Miami Springs, Fla.; a sister, Marjorie Bishop of Broadalbin; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Northampton United Methodist Church, Fishhouse, with the Rev. Brad Broyles officiating.
Interment will be in Union Mills Cemetery, Broadalbin.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 38 W. Main St., Broadalbin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Northampton United Methodist Church.
