OTSELIC - Funeral services for Diane Williams Andrews, of Otselic, who passed away Feb. 21, 2002, were held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Rebekah Sweet, pastor of the Broad Street United Methodist Church, presided.
Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery of Oxford.
DORIS TOWNER
NORWICH - Doris Lavina Towner, 72, of Peacock Manor, Norwich, went to be with her Savior Friday, Feb. 22, 2002 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Derry, New Hampshire, on July 31, 1929, the daughter of Thomas W. and Hazel (Blackman) Tucker, Doris spent her early years in Putnam County before moving to Norwich. She had been a resident of Peacock Manor for the last 12 years. A "people person" by nature, Doris could always be seen at the local eateries, functions, and doings. With her camcorder, she would film graduations and parties. She loved bowling, for which she had many trophies, and enjoyed day trips to places like Sky Lake and many other Senior Citizens trips. She had participated in the Community Work Shop for a time, and in the Special Olympics, and was passionate about getting her G.E.D. A good friend to all, she had been mentioned in the local newspaper many times for her deeds of kindness. Over the years, Doris had attended the Broad Street United Methodist Church every Sunday, where she loved to sing in the choir, and the Bible Baptist Church’s night services. For the past 11 years, Doris had gone to evening services at the Temple Baptist Church to hear God’s word.
Doris is survived by her sisters: Letha Scaperotta of Indian Harbor Beach, Florida, and Myrtle (Linwood) Maxcy of Mississippi; and her sister-in-law, Wanda Towner of Norwich. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas Towner and Hazel Towner Light; her brother, Donald Towner of Norwich; her step-father, Alonzo J. Light; and her half-sister, Barbara Ann Light Cartor.
Funeral services for Doris will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Rebekah Sweet, pastor of the Broad St. United Methodist Church and The Rev. Richard Gould, pastor of the Temple Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the South Plymouth Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11.

NORWICH - Antonette Armitage Smith, 83, of Norwich, passed away early Friday morning, March 1, 2002 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital of Norwich.

NORWICH - Elizabeth (Betty) Stewart Hogeman, 82, formerly of Norwich, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 27, 2002 in the Normandie Ridge Home of York, Pa., where she had made her home for the past several years.

NORWICH - Funeral services for James Hall were held on Wednesday, at 9 a.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Rebekah Sweet, pastor of the Broad Street United Methodist Church, officiated. Interment will be at a later date in the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Norwich.
On Tuesday evening at 6, members of the Quarter Century Club held a memorial service at the funeral home. Also on Tuesday evening members of Norwich Elks Lodge 1222 conducted a memorial service a the funeral home and at 7:30 p.m. members of the Norwich Lions and Lioness Clubs called in a group at the funeral home.

NORWICH - Estelle Benevento, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, May 19, 2002 at the Gilmour Health Care Facility.
Born in Brooklyn on April 10, 1909, she was the daughter of Pasquale and Frances (DeNucci) Graziano. She spent her early years in Brooklyn and attended school there. On Nov. 10, l929, she married John Benevento, who died on April 20, 1978. Following her marriage Estelle moved to Cambria Heights on Long Island and eventually to North Massapequa. She came to Norwich in 1985.
Estelle loved to read poetry and write letters to her family and many friends. She was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church.
Estelle is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Famolaro and husband, Frank, of South New Berlin; three grandchildren, Donna and Ron Greenberg of Norwich, Michael and Veronica Frech of So. New Berlin and James and Donna Frech of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; nine great grandchildren, Charlene and Shannon Smith of So. Plymouth, Kathleen and Kristen DeFrancisco of Norwich, Susan, Steven and Samantha Frech of So. New Berlin, Melanie, Nicholas and Brooke Mosley of Myrtle Beach, two great great grandchildren, Katelin Smith of So. Plymouth and Skyler McCall of Myrtle Beach. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Donald Frech and six sisters.
A Mass of Resurrection for Mrs. Benevento will be held on Tuesday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bartholomew’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Devine-Wilson Memorial Home on Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.. The family will recite the Rosary at 6:45.
Contributions in memory of Mrs. Benevento may be made to Gilmour Residential Fund in care of the Gilmour Residential Health Care Facility, 88 Calvary Drive, Norwich, NY.

NORWICH - Funeral services for Estelle Benevento were held Tuesday at St. Bartholomew’s Church. Rev. Douglas Cunningham, pastor, celebrated a Mass of Resurrection.
Mass began with Estelle’s daughter, Marilyn Famolaro and granddaughters Veronica Frech and Donna Greenberg placing the baptismal pall upon the casket. The readings for the Mass were proclaimed by great granddaughters Kathleen DeFrancisco and Charlene Smith. The Prayer of the Faithful was read by great granddaughter Kristen DeFrancisco. Presenting the offertory gifts were Susan Frech and Samantha Frech, great-granddaughters. Mary Ann Bodiot, parish minister, served as honorary eucharistic minister, Tom Kennedy was the organist and vocalist for the service while George Zeino was altar server.
Burial followed the Mass at St. Paul’s cemetery with Father Cunningham offering the committal prayers. Casket bearers were Michael Frech, Steven Frech, Pat Reale, Shannon Smith, Frank Aquilato and William Mysiuk.
On Monday evening at the Devine-Wilson Memorial Home, Mary Ann Bodiot led the family in the recitation of the Rosary.
