MARILYN MCALLISTER

HAMILTON - Marilyn Eunice (Storms) McAllister, 63, of East Main Street, Morrisville, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at her home. Born on Dec. 19, 1938 in Rome, she was a daughter of John Elwin and Eunice Ruby (Kimball) Storms, and attended local schools.

She had worked for the Convenience Food Mart, which later became Bonfare, and then Stewart’s Shops in Morrisville. Most recently she was a secretary for the Green Thumb, HUD office in Morrisville. Surviving are four daughters, Jennie L. Clay and her companion Kenneth Merriman of Hamilton, Mary L. and Kenny Miller of Morrisville, Joyce D. and Brian Marchetti of Madison, and E. Amy Perry of Morrisville; her son, Richard McAllister of Oneida; and several grandchildren, Becky, Valarie and Michelle House, Billie Jo Clay, Mary Ann Rhoades, Brian Clay, Frederick Jr., Kori Lee and Shelbi Lyn Warner, Alexander (Martin) Marchetti, and Sierra Mae and Makenzi Lyn.

Also surviving are five great-grandchildren; two sisters, H. Gail and Anton Reichinger of Ilion, and Raylene and Roy Crossway of Hamilton; two brothers, Daniel D. Storms of Ilion, and John R. and Katherine Storms of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special friend, Anthony Shelna of Cazenovia.

She was predeceased by a son, Martin M. McAllister, and a daughter, Heidi J. McAllister House. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in the Madison Street Cemetery, Hamilton. Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.

LLOYD FOWLER SR.

SHERBURNE - Lloyd L. Fowler Sr., 63, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002 at his home in Handsome Brook Estates.

He was born on Oct. 7, 1939, a son of Richard and Pauline Brown Fowler.

He grew up in the South Otselic and Georgetown areas, where he worked with his father on the home farm. He also worked at Oberdorpher Foundries for several years before becoming disabled in 1977. He had been active in several churches over the years, including the Mallory Baptist Church of Mallory, the Norwich Assembly of God and the United Methodist Church of Sherburne.

He lived with his parents for several years before his marriage to Theresa, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Lloyd Jr., Heather Kelly and Susan Ramsdell of Georgetown; two brothers, Harold of Palm Bay, Fla., and Donald of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister of Central Square; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m. from the Wm. W. Kehoe Funeral Home, Sherburne. Viewing hours are from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the spring.

Arrangements are by the Wm. W. Kehoe Funeral Home.

DOROTHY CAGLOS

NORWICH - Dorothy Caglos, 86, a resident of the Gilmour Health Care Facility since 1995 and a former resident of Preston Manor and Bainbridge, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 6, 2002 at the Gilmour Health Care Facility.

Dorothy was born on July 12, 1916 in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of Charles and Ethel (Hooker) Moore. At the age of five, Dorothy moved with her family to the New York City area, where she lived for many years before coming to the Chenango County area. While living in New York, she was employed as a model for the Macy’s Department Store and enjoyed theater and music. She was married to Arsitisdis Caglos, who passed away on Feb. 17, 1953.

Dorothy has no known survivors, but her family are her friends at the Gilmour Health Care Facility and Preston Manor.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Beverly Butler, chaplain of the Gilmour Health Care Facility, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Norwich.

BEVERLEY BORTHWICK

OXFORD - Beverley G. Borthwick, 67, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at the New York State Veterans’ Home in Oxford.

Born on Aug. 17, 1935 in Syracuse, she was the daughter of Charles and Irene (Weckworth) Graves. She was married to Donald Borthwick on May 17, 1958 in Smyrna. He predeceased her in June 2002. She was a former resident of Smyrna, Unadilla, Harpursville and Chiefland, Fla.

She was a former employee of TACO, Inc. of Sherburne, NBT Bank of Norwich and the Mead Corp. of Sidney.

While a resident of Smyrna, she was an active member of the Smyrna Fire Department Auxiliary and the Girl Scouts, and participated in many bowling leagues.

Surviving her are her adopted son, Bryan Young of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Jeannette Brown of Sherburne; her brothers, Charles Graves of North Carolina and William Graves of North Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral and committal services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Westcott Funeral Home, 123 Main St., Unadilla, with the Rev. Mary Ann Linder, pastor of the Guilford United Methodist Church, officiating.

Friends may call this evening from 5 to 7 at the funeral home, when the family will be in attendance. Burial will be later in Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.

NANCY GORDON

NORWICH - Nancy Brown Gordon went to be with the Lord on Nov. 29, 2002 as a result of complications from bypass surgery.

She is survived by her husband, Neil B. Gordon of Leonardstown, Md., her son. Leo H. Gordon, his wife Joelle and their children, Travis and Carly. A daughter, Holly Gordon Ollom and her husband, Jeff Ollom and their daughter, Felicia. She is also survived by her two brothers: James H. Brown of Chatham, Mass. and Timothy C. Brown of Norwich, and her sisters, Louanna Watt of Seattle, Wash., Clara Cox of St. Paul, Minn. and Sylvia Adam of Atlanta, Ga. Two aunts, numerous nieces, nephews grand nieces and grand nephews.

She is predeceased by her older sister, Carolyn Prouty, as well as her parents, J. Howard and Helen B. Brown.

Nancy was born to Howard and Helen Brown on June 27, 1935 in Oneonta. She attended elementary school in Unadilla. In 1947 her family moved to King Settlement, outside Norwich. Nancy attended Norwich High School, graduating in 1953. She then completed the requirements for practical nursing before marrying Neil Gordon on Dec. 18, 1954. Her married life took her to Leonardstown, Md. where her husband worked at Patuxent Naval Base.

In addition to raising her children, she worked part-time in the schools as a substitute nurse. She taught Sunday school for many years despite her growing blindness from diabetes. She loved working in her garden, often-submitting vegetables and flowers for competition at the county fair.

A memorial service in her memory will be held on Jan. 4, 2003 at Saysf Chapel, Rue Purchase Road, Lexington Park, Md. Gifts in her memory may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice.

LENA TUCKER

NORWICH - Lena E. Tucker, 84, long time area resident and most recently of Barnes St. Norwich passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 12, 2002 in the New York State Veterans’ Home of Oxford. Lena was born in Cuyler and grew up in the Kirk area where she attended their local school. Moving from Kirk to Pidgeon Hill, Lena and her family ran a farm on Pidgeon Hill. She had formerly worked for TACO in Sherburne, the Berglas Factory in Norwich and for a period of 18 years for Dr. Reese on his farm in Earlville. Prior to her retirement Lena was the custodian for the North Norwich Town Hall.

A loving and giving person Lena always enjoyed being with people, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed socializing with all she knew. She also loved her animals, which was evident by her working on the farms, and also enjoyed a good game of pitch.

Born Sept. 15, 1918 in Cuyler, she was the daughter of William and Belle (Nicholson) Frazier.

Lena is survived by her daughters; Mary Burlingame of Norwich and Marie Monroe of South Plymouth. Her grandchildren: Cheryl Johnston of Everett, Wash., Cynthia Grover of Foley, Ala., Ward Monroe of Norwich, JoAnn Cunningham of Unadilla, Marjorie Hackett of South Plymouth, Bruce Monroe of Plymouth, Kevin Monroe, Ruth Ann Marks Randy Monroe and Jeff Monroe all of South Plymouth. Also surviving are 30 great-grandchldren, eight great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Lena was predeceased by her daughter Edith Tucker, her sisters Mae and Anna, her brother Scott Frazier, her son-in-law Llewellyn Monroe and grandchildren Beverly Knapp and Steven Monroe. Funeral services for Lena will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Carl Brandon, pastor of the North Pharsalia Bible Church, will officiate. lnterment will be at a later date in the Sherburne West Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.

JAMES POTTS

OXFORD - James Robert Potts, 94, of Oxford, formerly of Westbrookville, Wells and Kings Park, died on Dec. 12, 2002 following a long and full life.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1908 in Spring House, Pa., the son of the late Julius W. and Blennie E. (Bolles) Potts.

He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Colleen and Frank DeLise of Kings Park, and Roberta Kerekes of Middle Island; his sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Glenna Potts of Oxford, and James and Jeanne Potts of Smithtown. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Janice, Fern, Todd, Scott, Blyden, Timothy, Shannon, Erin, Courtney, James, and Jonathan and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wives, Vera C. Page, in 1982 and Elsie Skinner Grebeldinger in 1998. Jim graduated from Athens, Pa. High School in 1925. He served in the Coast Artillery and then with the 29th Engineers, of the U.S. Army from 1929-1935. He worked as a surveyor in the Brooklyn Navy Yard from 1940-1950. He subsequently operated Maple View Dairy in Kings Park from 1952-58. He was employed by the Town of Smithtown as the Town Surveyor from 1958-1973. He was a former member of the Kings Park Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member and Past Master of Oxford Lodge #175 F&AM and a member and Past High Priest of Oxford Chapter #254 RAM.

Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. A Masonic Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 8 p.m. The family will receive friends a the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Westbrookville Cemetery.
