Mildred Conant
Mildred Wood Conant, 90, of Jensen Beach, Fla., died Tuesday, Sept. 5, in West Palm Beach.
Mrs. Conant was born on April 30, 1911, in Syracuse, N.Y., to Raymond and Daisy Wood. Obtaining a BS degree from Syracuse University, majoring in home economics, she went on to teach math and homemaking in Gloversville; homemaking and cafeteria supervision in Mayfield; inner-city preschool in Rochester; and homemaking in East Irondequoit.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Eugene F. Conant, former superintendent of schools of Johnstown and later assistant superintendent for administration for Rochester City School District. Other survivors include her daughter, Suzanne C. and her husband Al Young of Jupiter, Fla.; sons, James B. Conant of Jupiter and R. Luther and his wife Donna Conant of Fayetteville, N.Y. She also leaves her sister, Mary Wood Tucker of Escondido, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Jensen Beach. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Choir Fund, Jensen Beach.
Agnes Horton
Mrs. Agnes M. Horton, 75, of Route 30, Hope, died Friday morning at Nathan Littauer Hospital after being stricken at home.
She was born on May 15, 1926, in Gloversville, the daughter of Warren and Emily Lawrence Duheme. She was a lifelong area resident.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Wells.
Survivors include her husband, Richard T. Horton, whom she married on June 19, 1951; one son, Terry R. Horton of Hope; three daughters, Sandy Dunham of Gloversville, Gail Ostrander of Hope and Cathy Ferguson of Wells; one sister, Beatrice Knapp of Lake Pleasant; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one sister, Betty Blanchard, and one grandson, Eric Ferguson.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Algonquin Cemetery, Wells. Memorials may be made to Hope Volunteer Ambulance Corps or Wells Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Mary Maiello
Mrs. Mary L. Maiello, 86, a former resident of Second Street, Gloversville, died Friday morning at Mount Loretto Nursing Home, Amsterdam, where she had been a resident since Oct. 22, 1999.
Mrs. Maiello was born on April 20, 1915, in Gloversville and was a lifelong area resident. She attended the former St. Francis De Sale School of Gloversville.
She was a glovemaker for the former Perrella Glove Co. in Gloversville and retired in 1984.
Mrs. Maiello was a member of Sacred Heart Church and its Rosary Society and 55 Plus Senior Citizens, both of Gloversville.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lucy Perrone of Gloversville and Mrs. Carmella P. Tredwell of Fairport, N.Y.; three brothers, Matthew D'Errico of Burbank, Calif., Peter D'Errico of Gloversville and Jack D'Errico of Tampa, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Martha Persico, Mrs. Antoinette Sena, Mrs. Jennie Palmieri and Mrs. Angeline Budinscak, all of Gloversville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She married Ralph J. Maiello on Dec. 6, 1942. He died Jan. 1, 1993. She was also predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Carmela Capuano D'Errico; two brothers, Thomas and Dominic D'Errico; one sister, Betty Natole; and one great-grandson, Albert Perrone Jr.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at John W. Finocan Funeral Home Inc., 13 Prospect Ave., Gloversville. A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville. The Rev. David L. Tressic, pastor, will be celebrant. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association's Northeastern New York Chapter, 85 Watervliet Ave., Albany, NY 12206.
Albert Patterson
Mr. Albert E. Patterson, 62, of Maple Avenue Ext., Gloversville, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam after a long illness.
He was born April 18, 1939, in Pontiac, Mich., the son of Albert and Lillian Vosburgh Patterson.
Mr. Patterson was a self-employed contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Wille Patterson, whom he married April 18, 1977; one sister, Patricia Conine of Caroga Lake; one brother, Bruce Patterson of Fultonville; nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no funeral services or calling hours.
Cremation will be at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
Arrangements are by A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown, NY 12095.
Elmina Perrella
Mrs. Elmina DeCicco Perrella, 88, formerly of York, Maine, and St. Augustine, Fla., since 1996, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at St. John's Health Care Center, St. Augustine, after a long illness.
She was born Feb. 14, 1913, in Gloversville, the daughter of Archangelo and Rosina Pescatore DeCicco.
Mrs. Perrella was employed as a glovemaker during World War II and for many years of her life. She was best known for her wonderful Italian cooking.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred J. Perrella, whom she married in 1935; two daughters, Rosemarie P. Lesswing of Kittery, Maine, and Port Orange, Fla., and Deborah J. Perrella of St. Augustine, Fla.; grandchildren Lynette Lesswing Asselta, Christopher D. Perrella and Alexandra W. Perrella of St. Augustine, Fla., Frederick M. Lesswing of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Laura K. Lesswing of Berwick, Maine; great-granddaughter Maya Li Asselta of St. Augustine, Fla., nephew Nicholas A. Cannizzo Sr. of Johnstown; niece Rose Richardson of Gloversville; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by one sister, Mary Cannizzo; two brothers, Nicholas and Anthony DeCicco; her son, Daniel J. Perrella; and a grandson, Eric Anthony Lesswing.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Church, Cayadutta Street, Johnstown, with the Rev. James Fitzmaurice as celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Johnstown.

Howard R. Borntraeger
Howard R. Borntraeger, 81, formerly of Cornell Street, Amsterdam, passed away Saturday evening at St. Mary's Hospital. He had recently resided at the Park Hill Adult Home.
He was born on March 20, 1920 in Amsterdam, a son of Karl and Ethel Palmer Borntraeger. He lived here all his life and attended Amsterdam schools.
Howard was employed by Mohawk Carpets for 40 years and later in the maintenance department of Noteworthy until he retired. During World War II, he served with the Army in Europe as a private.
A communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, he was active in local veterans groups such as the John J. Wyszomirski Post 701 American Legion, where he served as vice commander at one time, a life member and past chief de guerre of the Voiture 40 et 8; the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 55; and the Polish American Veterans. He was also a member of the Rockton Fish and Game Club.
Surviving are his loving daughter, Donna Marie Vega Ponce, and his loving son, Joseph Karl Borntraeger, both of Amsterdam; his son-in-law, Carlos Vega Ponce, and daughter-in-law, Kimberly Borntraeger; his dear granddaughter, Ashley Rebecca Vega Ponce, and his stepgrandsons, Justin and Brandon Craig; a sister, Eleanor Pohlman of Amsterdam; nieces, nephews and cousins.
His beloved wife, Frances J. Hayes, preceded him in death on April 13; they were married on June 22, 1958. A sister, Emily Flesh, predeceased him.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, where Post 701 American Legion will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:15 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church. The Rev. Lawrence Decker will be celebrant. Interment will take place in the family plot in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam with military honors.
Contributions may be made to St. Michael's Memorial Fund, or the 40 et 8 Child Welfare Fund.
Isadora Visconti
Mrs. Isadora C. (Dory) Visconti, 62, formerly of East Fulton Street, Gloversville, died Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
She was born on Sept. 5, 1939 in Manila, Philippines, and educated in the Philippines. She came to this country in 1965.
She was self-employed in the rental property business and was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Ruzzo Visconti of Perth. She was married to Jerry Visconti and he died in 1973.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 147 Bleecker St., Gloversville. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. The Rev. Donald Czelusniak, pastor of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Gloversville, will officiate.
